Chapter Text
Walking through the Truman gates that November morning felt no different to any other day. Nick and Charlie were walking side by side, so closely that they were almost touching, they were long past the stage of hiding their love for one another whilst at school, but chose not to since the last time they were overly intimate in front of other kids at school, Charlie accidentally made a year 7 cry whilst nick almost pissed him laughing at the whole situation.
Gradually they made their ways through the somewhat depressing school corridors, because who really wants to be in school. They were laughing about various different things from the memes they sent one another to the latest petty drama at their school. Occasionally stopping to say hi to a few people, including Tao, Isaac and a couple of the rugby lads.
Even though it felt no different to any other day, Charlie knew that the rugby match which was set for the end of the day would decide nicks mood for the rest of the week. Rugby was the second most important thing in Nicks life, Charlie and his Mum were first of course. Even though he himself had decided that rugby was not his thing, he continued to play on the schools team to simply spend more time with Nick.
As they sat down in form, they finally relaxed and found each others hands on the desk, looking around the room Charlie made sure no one else had arrived yet, not even Mr Lange their form tutor. Once he was certain that they were alone, he lent other and gave Nick a few pecks on the lips before resting his head on Nicks shoulder.
The older boy let out a light chuckle and kissed the younger boys hair, one of the he loved the most an about Charlie was his dark curls. Nick noticed Charlie’s eyes gradually close, so he got his phone out and snuck a quick photo to add to his collection of mugs of Charlie. The younger boy heard the little sound effect nicks phone made and let out a light chuckle before raising his head to meet the older ones eyes.
The tension built and built, with the two boys edging towards a kiss before Mr Lange walked in on the encounter, when he stopped dropped his head and said “good morning Nick and Charlie”, to which the two boys replied with a simple “morning sir” and a awkward chuckle each. Their strong grips on each other slowly released knowing that the arrival of more students was imminent.
By the end of form, the boys had agreed that they would both lie to their 5th period teachers, so that they could meet up in the pe department by themselves before the rest of the team. With Charlie being head boy and nick getting along with most his teachers(despite not liking most of them) convincing them to let them leave their lessons early was not gonna be a problem and they could use the excuse of the rugby game.
As they reached, Nicks class, since it was closer to their form room and conveniently on the way to Charlie’s class. They said goodbye and resisted the strong urge to kiss in the middle of the school, in front of everyone knowing that if they did people would say stuff and stare.
They parted ways and both immediately couldn’t wait for lunch to roll around so they could see each other again. And of course it felt like an eternity but once they saw each other, all of the worry and sadness was exiled from their bodies.
Lunch went fast, too fast for the boys liking, but again it was no different to any other day, the sat with their mates and Tao was banging on about some movie they’d never heard of. When the inevitable end of lunch came, the two boys agreed what time they’d meet up before the game.
The lesson felt like it dragged on for years and the two boys consciously watched the clock in their separate lessons but when the time finally arrived, it felt like they had been torn apart for decades and that was the reunion.
Nick and Charlie both knew that no one else would be in the pe department so it was a perfect chance to have time to themselves after a long day. The smiles on their faces as the saw each other down the corridor were almost too wide to fit on their faces.
The two ram into a deep meaningful embrace that neither of them ever wanted to leave. For those few minutes nothing else in the world mattered, it was just the two of them, no one could ruin it, together they could take on anything and everything.
