Rain trickles down the window. You have been laying on the cold floor for awhile, staying still and letting time pass by. That’s all you really can do in this town, watch the days come and go. There is nothing special here, the area is practically a ghost town.
Your head starts to ache from the hardness of the freezing wood below you, so you slowly sit up. You rub your forehead and look at the window across from you. It’s dark and gloomy outside, as per usual.
You pause before standing up fully, and you go to the kitchen. The only sound in the whole house was the pouring water from the fridge that is filling the glass in your hand. Once it’s full, you put it up to your lips and take a sip.
God, you feel miserable. You’ve been lonely ever since you moved here, there’s only one person you consider a friend. His name is Simon, he’s very quiet and shy most of the time. You slowly gained feelings for him since he was the only human that actually paid attention to you.
As if it was fate, you hear a knock on your front door. You slowly walk to go answer it, setting your glass on the counter. The door opens with a creak, and you see Simon on your porch. He has a slight smile on his face, which you’ve always found cute.
“Simon? It’s very late, what’s up?” You ask, allowing him to come inside. You shut the door after he steps in, following him to the couch. “Nothing much.” He responds casually, slowly scooting closer to you. “Alright. You want some water?” You offer him a glass, but he politely declines.
“No, I just came because things have been on my mind.”
“What kind of things?” I ask him, curious on what he means. The rain pours more harshly outside, we both notice it drip down the window.
“Well,” He pauses, taking a deep breath. “You are always nice to me, I appreciate that.”
“Why wouldn’t I be? We’re friends!” You tease him, putting a slight smile on his face.
“I love you.” The words flow out of his mouth, and awkward silence between you two follows for a minute. The room gets quiet, the only thing heard is the muffled rain outside.
Suddenly, you grab onto his gloved hand and look at him. “I love you too.” You respond, squeezing his hand slightly. The comfort of a person loving you brought up your spirits, so much so that it activated some kind of flirting.
You didn’t hesitate to get all close and personal with him, holding onto his shoulders tightly. “I wish I had known you liked me sooner.” You said, laughing a bit to yourself. “I always felt the same way about you”
At the moment, something in Simon clicked. He grabbed your arm and pulled you along with him up the stairs. “Simon?” It’s like he was in his own little world in the moment. He kept walking and made you come along, finally stopping at a door.
“Is this your room?” He asks, twisting the doorknob.
“Yes, what’s so special in here?” He doesn’t respond and simply walks inside. You feel confused, but follow him nonetheless.
Out of nowhere, he grabs your arm and lays you on the bed. Since the lamp was not turned on, the only light in the room was from the dim window. It was hard to see his face in the dark, all of this was overwhelming. “We should slow down Simon.” You suggest, sitting up from the bed to look at him properly.
“Why? I have been waiting for this moment.” He comments, with slight disappointment in his voice. He crawls onto the bed, pulling you into his arms.
The embrace was warm and welcomed, making you relax. His arms wrapped around you as he hugged. What could be better than this?
“I have been hoping for something like this in my dreams.” You mumbled, smiling to yourself. “It’s so goddamn lonely out here, I need you around Simon.”
He smirks at you comment as he rubs circles around your back.
You felt all your worries go away whenever Simon’s around, and that definitely applies to right now. The warmth and feeling of protection makes your stress disappear.
“Promise you’ll never move away or any stupid shit like that.” He states blankly, making you giggle a bit.
“I promise, Simon.”
