Work Text:
In a rather perplexing situation, Roier and Jaiden, who had always been regarded as a platonic pair of exceptionally close friends, suddenly found themselves confined to a peculiar room. This room defied categorization - it was neither overwhelmingly spacious nor uncomfortably cramped. To Roier, the ambiance within the room was distinctly unsettling, despite a faint undercurrent of familiarity that tugged at his senses. It was as though he had stepped into a place he had encountered in the past, but it was far from a comforting reunion. There was an eerie quality to this déjà vu, leaving Roier with a sense of disquiet that he couldn't shake.
For Jaiden, the room held an entirely different mystique. It seemed to trigger elusive memories buried deep within her consciousness, memories that were shrouded in an enigmatic haze. Attempting to retrieve these fragments of her past felt like grasping at dissipating strands of smoke; it was a disorienting experience that set her head spinning. The reminiscences she sought were akin to old, faded television shows with intermittent static, where the moments she tried to recollect flickered in and out of her grasp. The room, in its peculiar way, served as a strange catalyst for Jaiden's introspection, leading her on a quest to unravel the cryptic tales hidden within the recesses of her mind, even if the journey proved to be mentally taxing and disconcerting.
Amidst the enigmatic setting of the Federation of Quesadilla Island, the duo, accompanied by a diligent worker known as Cucurucho, had been transported to what appeared to be the heart of this intricate organization. As they ventured further into this peculiar realm, Roier couldn't help but harbor a mounting sense of curiosity and unease. His voice broke through the prevailing uncertainty as he turned to Jaiden with an earnest inquiry.
"Jaiden," Roier began, his tone laced with both apprehension and curiosity, "Do you have any inkling as to why we find ourselves here? And, perhaps more urgently, do you have any insights on how we might navigate our way out of this perplexing situation?" His questions hung in the air, their urgency mirrored by the perplexity etched on his face.
Jaiden, however, was not privy to the answers he sought. She met Roier's gaze with an expression of bewilderment. "I wish I could provide some clarity," she admitted with a hint of frustration, "but truth be told, I'm just as lost as you are. To both your questions, I have to say—I don't have the faintest idea." Uncertainty lingered between them, casting a shadow over their predicament.
As they remained ensconced within the room's disorientingly bright, white confines, Jaiden's eyes began to wander, seeking refuge from the overwhelming radiance in the room's unexpected decor. The walls, seemingly freshly painted, bore the artistic imprints of previous visitors, but it was one particular illustration that captivated her attention. Nestled among the childlike drawings, rendered with crayons in vibrant hues, was a tableau that stirred her curiosity.
In the drawing, a brown-haired boy adorned in a peculiar, light teal dress or gown stood on one side, a blue bandanna artfully embellished with red adorning his head. On the other side, a girl with similar brown hair sported what appeared to be ethereal wings sprouting from her ears and back, dressed in the same intriguing shade of teal. What truly intrigued Jaiden was the figure that bridged them in the center—a tall, enigmatic presence with a peculiarly contorted smile, garbed in what resembled a suit. This character, labeled as "Mr. :]" in colorful lettering, had an aura of peculiarity that sent shivers down her spine. The boy was designated as "me," and the girl as "bird sis," while above them, the word "family" was scrawled in a kaleidoscope of cheerful hues. It was a tableau that raised more questions than it answered, leaving Jaiden to wonder about the significance of this drawing, but all the drawings were kept on the walls made her wonder why.
As the doors swung open, their hinges creaking with a sense of impending tension, a flurry of emotions surged through the room. Two distinct voices pierced the air simultaneously, creating a stark contrast in the atmosphere. Roier's tone dripped with anger as he spat out, "Asshole!" in a vehement rebuke, while Jaiden's voice rang with an unusual delight as she exclaimed, "Cucurucho!" The stark contrast between their emotions was palpable, echoing their diverse reactions to the unexpected visitor.
However, Cucurucho remained unfazed by this contrasting reception, displaying an almost mechanical detachment. The enigmatic worker, equipped with a peculiar text-to-speech box attached to its hip, uttered a succinct greeting, "Hello." The terseness of the greeting left an eerie silence hanging in the air, as if the room itself held its breath.
The tension escalated when Cucurucho delivered a simple yet directive command, "Please follow me." Jaiden, inclined to comply, began to move forward, but Roier's hand grasped her firmly, halting her progress. Roier, his irritation palpable, retorted, "We won't follow." A quiet hiss of frustration escaped Jaiden's lips, but Roier's grip on her hand only tightened in response. Cucurucho, unflinching and implacable, continued to stare at them, repeating its demand with an eerie persistence, "Please follow me."
Following what felt like an interminable passage of time—though in reality, only ten minutes had elapsed—Roier and Jaiden trailed obediently behind Cucurucho. Their journey through the labyrinthine corridors of the building carried an air of unspoken tension, a silent backdrop to the cryptic unfolding of events. Amidst this silence, Cucurucho broke his stoic demeanor, addressing them with an enigmatic statement, "We're pleased to have you two back." Roier remained stoically impassive, but Jaiden, her curiosity piqued, tilted her head and inquired, "What do you mean by 'have you back'?" At this, even Roier found himself listening intently for Cucurucho's response, but none was forthcoming. The mystery continued to deepen.
As they navigated through the ever-shifting corridors, they eventually arrived at a juncture where the path split into two divergent directions. To the right stood another worker, eerily similar to Cucurucho but distinguished by a white, featureless mask concealing their visage. Mirroring them on the left side was yet another worker, virtually identical to the first. Cucurucho, with his dispassionate voice emanating from his text-to-speech box, issued a terse command, "Get them ready." Without further ado, Roier and Jaiden found themselves at the hand of these two enigmatic workers, each ushered down a separate corridor, the weight of uncertainty bearing down upon them as they embarked on a path unknown.
In the left-wing room, Jaiden was enveloped by an aura of ethereal purity. Every corner exuded a pristine white, creating an atmosphere of serenity and elegance. Two impeccably designed white chairs stood adjacent to a gracefully crafted vanity, their minimalist aesthetics amplifying the room's air of untainted simplicity. Amid this immaculate setting, a diligent worker, clearly skilled in the art of transformation, meticulously tended to Jaiden's appearance.
With deft hands, the worker attentively combed through her hair, each stroke an act of devotion to the task at hand. Brushes danced across her skin, applying makeup with an artist's precision, subtly accentuating her features. Gradually, Jaiden was metamorphosed into a vision of bridal beauty, her reflection in the mirror before her mirroring an ethereal radiance. As the worker carefully adorned her in a radiant white dress, Jaiden couldn't help but be overwhelmed by a sense of trust, a belief that Cucurucho's intentions, despite the enigmatic circumstances, were rooted in purity and benevolence. This transformation, though shrouded in mystery, seemed to hold the promise of something profound and meaningful.
In the right-wing room, Roier found himself in stark contrast to Jaiden's tranquil experience. The pristine white surroundings here served as a backdrop to a relentless battle of wills. Two elegant white chairs stood as silent witnesses to the unfolding struggle, their understated elegance at odds with the turmoil within the room. Roier's fiery spirit flared as he vocally protested, shouting vehemently that his husband, Cellbit, would soon find him and unleash retribution upon everyone involved.
As the worker diligently worked to dress Roier in a meticulously tailored suit, Roier's protests continued unabated. "You won't get away with this! My husband will find me, and he'll kill every last one of you!" he bellowed, his voice laced with a mixture of anger and desperation.
However, the worker assigned to him remained unperturbed, resolutely focused on their task. Without uttering a word, they skillfully adjusted Roier's tie, straightened his lapels, and ensured every detail of the suit was impeccable. Roier, begrudgingly resigned to the worker's relentless efforts, couldn't help but experience fleeting flashbacks to his wedding day with Cellbit – memories of love and commitment that contrasted starkly with the current situation.
Desperate for answers, Roier finally confronted the worker, his voice a mixture of frustration and curiosity. "What is this all about?" he demanded, but received only silence in response. The worker's silence was as impenetrable as their determination, leaving Roier to grapple with the enigma of his transformation and the uncertain future that awaited him.
As Roier's transformation into a groom reached its culmination in the right-wing room, an inexplicable sense of foreboding clung to him like an unshakable shadow. He was soon led out of that room and into yet another, where a chilling tableau awaited. Before him, an eerily serene scene unfolded. At the center of the room stood an ornate altar, adorned with pristine white drapery that cascaded gracefully to the floor. Illuminated by an otherworldly glow, Cucurucho, the enigmatic worker, stood regally at the altar, an embodiment of otherness against the pristine backdrop.
Roier's apprehension surged as Jaiden was escorted into the room. Their gazes met, silently acknowledging the unspoken horror of their predicament. Against their will and in the most surreal of circumstances, they were about to be married by the relentless Cucurucho, their protests falling on deaf ears.
Cucurucho's voice, devoid of emotion, began the ceremony. "Dearly beloved," he intoned, though the irony of the situation was not lost on Roier and Jaiden, who exchanged worried glances. When it came time for the vows, Roier couldn't help but speak out, his voice trembling with a mix of anger and desperation. "This is madness! We won't stand for this!"
But Cucurucho remained unflinching, proceeding with the ceremony as if Roier's protests were mere whispers in the wind. Jaiden, too, felt compelled to voice her resistance. "This is not our choice!" she cried out, her eyes locked with Roier's in a shared moment of defiance.
The room seemed to close in on them as the ceremony continued, its walls bearing witness to this forced union. They exchanged reluctant vows and rings, their voices laden with reluctance. As the ceremony concluded, Cucurucho led them to a room that resembled a honeymoon suite, a room that now felt like a gilded cage.
With a cryptic final statement, Cucurucho broke his silence. "When your offsprings arrive, the project will be done. We hope you enjoy your life. Welcome to the Federation, Project Bluebird, Project Spider." His words hung in the air like an ominous cloud, leaving Roier and Jaiden to grapple with the gravity of their situation.
Alone in the dimly lit room, Roier turned to Jaiden, his voice trembling. "We have to find a way out of this, Jaiden. We can't let them control our lives like this."
Jaiden nodded, her eyes filled with determination. "I agree, Roier. We'll figure this out together, no matter what it takes."
