Work Text:
It was a bright and sunny morning in Starling City, especially for Mia, the famous vigilante and former mayor's daughter. It was a particularly special day and she knew it. It was her very first training day and she couldn't wait.
Mia had been trained before by John Diggle, her father, and Nyssa Al-Ghul. But they were merely the basics. Her father had promised her a week before that she would be taught how to truly fight, with weapons and such. She knew that she already had her own bow that was in the Arrowcave for safekeeping, to be given to her when she was of-age. And today was that day.
"Daddy! Wake up!" she eagerly exclaims in her parents bedroom with no care that she might also wake up her entire family. "Mia. It's 4am." Her mom, who woke up instead of her dad, says annoyed.
"But it's training day!"
"I know Mia, but your training is at 7. Get some sleep okay? I'll wake you up when it's time to get ready." Felicity says, sending Mia to her room.
Mia unwillingly walks back to her room heartbroken. She wanted to train and she wanted it now. As she tried to go to bed, she could imagine all the exciting things that could happen during training. Her getting her very own bow, the training room, all the gear, but mostly, spending time with her dad. Too excited to think about anything else, she gets out of bed and runs to William's room, hoping to be able to talk about all the things she's thinking about with somebody else.
"Wiiiilllllll. Wiiiiiiiill." She whispers beside her brother's ear, hoping her mother wouldn't catch her awake. William groans. "Will! Wake up!" she says while also trying not to be too loud.
"Mia!! It's so early!"
"Please Willlll...! I want to talk to you!" The 6 year old says. She's done this before, and almost every time William successfully wakes up, but that was before his super early college classes. He had just come back from college for the weekend the day before and was very tired.
With the taught patience and empathy he got from Felicity, he responds. "Maybe later, okay? It's still super early, and I need some sleep."
In Mia's disfavor she was yet again denied something she wanted, but unbeknownst to her, she was getting sleepy, that being 4am and all. Too tired to walk back to her room, she falls asleep beside William.
— 3 HOURS LATER
"Mia! Wake up!" Felicity says in a singy-songy way like she usually does to wake her daughter up in the morning. But Mia wasn't in her bed. Remembering what happened this morning, she was scared that she might've ran away or something. After searching in the bathroom and in Lucas' room, she was very relieved to see that Mia was sound asleep beside Will.
"Oliiiverrr! Look at this." She calls out for her husband cooking breakfast in the kitchen, being quiet and careful so she wouldn't wake up the two siblings. Oliver walks up beside his wife to see the sight. They watch in pure awe, remembering what it was like when it was just the two of them. Eventually though, after soaking in the moment, Oliver goes back to the kitchen and Felicity carries Mia out of the room to properly wake her without having to accidentally wake up William who she knew needed the extra hour of sleep.
“Is it time to train??” With one eye open, a raspy voice and a bedhead, the little girl asks, sounding more excited than ever despite the fact that she had just woken up. Felicity chuckles, “It sure is.”
Overhearing the conversation happening in the living room, “Are you excited bug? Oliver asks, using a nickname he felt he hasn’t used in a very long time. Still, it came very naturally.
“Yup dad! I practiced all my kicks and tri-” She was interrupted by her 3 year old brother, Lucas, screaming for Felicity from his cot. “Well, sounds like your brothers awake!” Felicity says, rushing to Lucas’ room.
“Well Mia, you better get dressed up, okay? We're leaving in an hour.” Oliver tells his blonde mini lookalike. “Okay dad!” Mia happily complies.
