Work Text:
Flowers were not common in cold areas, especially in the mountains.
There were only isolated places where they appeared, but nevertheless two men found themselves in the middle of a circle of flowers.
>Wei Wuxian< looked around in confusion, the area somehow familiar to him, as if he saw it every day himself.
"Lan Zhan... this is-."
Unusual for his typical behavior, >Lan Wangji< interrupted >Wei Wuxian<.
"The cloud recesses , we are in Gusu."
>Wei Wuxian< nodded before scratching the back of his head with Chenqing, a small pout on his plump lips.
"But that's not our cloud recesses, something is different."
The word "our" came naturally to him, after all he had lived there for a few years now.
>Lan Wangji< made a sound of agreement.
"Mn."
He didn’t feel like discussing it further, as he immediately began to examine the area more closely.
>Wei Wuxian< found this idea brilliant and hastily joined >Lan Wangji< after putting Chenqing back in his belt.
He noticed differences in the appearance of the buildings, also there was no white gravel on the ground, but then something caught his full attention.
"Lan Zhan look at that!"
>Lan Wangji< turned to his friend, who was pointing at something with wide eyes.
>Lan Wangji's< eyebrows furrowed for a brief moment, but his expression immediately relaxed, his usual cool gaze returning.
"Aiyah- and I thought our stone of 3500 rules is bad, here they actually carved it into the mountain!"
>Wei Wuxian< immediately missed the stone, which used to give him a headache.
A faint noise told >Wei Wuxian< that >Lan Wangji< had turned around again, but he stopped moving abruptly.
"Wei Ying."
>Lan Wangji< began, which immediately earned him the interest of >Wei Wuxian<.
"It seems like we're in another reality."
>Wei Wuxian< raised an eyebrow still not looking his way.
"That sounds very specific, how did you come up with that theory-"
Now >Wei Wuxian< turned around completely and also stopped immediately.
"Oh."
A pair of dark brown eyes blinked at the two curiously.
"Are you done with your tour? Then I would like to know what made you two gentleman sign up to just roam around here?"
>Wei Wuxian< eyed the male in front of him intently, black long hair tied up in a high ponytail with the use of a red ribbon, body covered in black robes that were unabashedly loose in the chest area and a black flute tucked into his belt.
All of this seemed eerily familiar to him, only there was something wrong with the face and the small build.
>Lan Wangji<, next to him, must have had the same thought.
A soft "Wei Ying?" escaping him, making the man in the black robes raise his eyebrows in surprise.
"Huh?"
He crossed his arms over his almost completely exposed chest and leaned forward examining >Lan Wangji<, squinting his eyes at the pattern.
>Wei Wuxian< felt very strange, this man in front of them seemed to be a Wei Ying from another reality, but why did his face and body seem so unfamiliar to him?
And if it really was Wei Ying, why didn't he recognize them directly?
He was just thinking about it when his other self reacted as if he could read his mind.
"Lan Zhan?!"
He let out in amazement and hopped towards >Lan Wangji<, who almost staggered back with uncertain eyes, but immediately caught himself again.
"Mn."
>Lan Wangji< himself noticed how broken his voice escaped his lips, but when a broad smile spread across Wei Ying's face, it was as if all his scattered thoughts were blown away.
"Lan Zhan! It really is you!"
Wei Ying grabbed his sleeve and got even closer to >Lan Wangji<.
>Wei Wuxian< looked at his other self with his mouth slightly open, >Wei Wuxian< himself was hardly that pushy and especially with >Lan Wangji< one should hold back.
Wei Ying laughed freely, he didn't seem to want to let go of >Lan Wangji's< arm any time soon, he almost clung to it.
"Aiyah, Lan Zhan! I hardly recognized you at first, your hair is different and you are smaller too! But you are incredibly handsome in every reality, really such a rare beauty!"
>Wei Wuxian< almost choked, completely in shock, Wei Ying, who unashamedly showered >Lan Wangji< in compliments, seemed to be even more unscrupulous than himself.
In a frozen state of horror, he barely noticed the heat rising in >Lan Wangji's< cheeks.
"Wei Ying..."
He pretended to warn, but Wei Ying skilfully ignored him and instead turned to >Wei Wuxian<, who, despite his normally loose mouth, hadn't uttered a word yet.
"Then you must be me, how interesting! You're taller than expected."
Wei Ying beamed and >Wei Wuxian< finally seemed to regain consciousness, he sighed in amusement and crossed his arms over his chest.
"Of course, that's what makes a noble cultivator!"
He joked and wanted to poke fun at >Lan Wangji<, but >Lan Wangji< could only stare at Wei Ying, who was still hanging on his arm, with slightly wide eyes.
>Wei Wuxian<, for some reason, didn't want to look at the scene, instead engaging his other self in yet another conversation.
"You have a quick understanding, I give you credit for that."
Wei Ying grinned crookedly, he winked.
"Too much of the praise, I was just combining."
When footsteps appeared behind the three, Wei Ying lifted his head and his face lit up instantly, a lovely expression beaming towards >Wei Wuxian< and >Lan Wangji<.
Wei Ying broke away from >Lan Wangji< and >Wei Wuxian<, oddly enough, relaxed a little.
"Lan Zhan!"
Wei Ying chirped, who ran past the two and attached himself directly to a strong arm covered by white robes.
When >Wei Wuxian< saw Lan Zhan from the alternate reality, his heart leapt.
He was a little taller than >Wei Wuxian< himself and significantly broader, even under the white robes, one could see that his body was toned.
Although the long strands of hair, which hung in his beautiful face, made him look a little bit softer.
However, what was identical to his >Lan Wangji< was Bichen, which was always carried around in Lan Zhan's big hand.
With an affectionate "Wei Ying." He greeted the smaller man and the way Lan Zhan pronounced his name made >Wei Wuxian< feel all fuzzy inside, although he wasn't even spoken to.
>Lan Wangji< stood next to >Wei Wuxian< again, which made >Wei Wuxian< even more nervous, he was afraid of being caught, even though there was nothing to be caught for.
>Lan Wangji< looked at his other self briefly, the warm twinkle in Lan Zhan's eyes, which was only there when he looked at Wei Ying, didn't go unnoticed and >Lan Wangji< quickly understood.
After Wei Ying pulled Lan Zhan over to the other two, the latter hesitantly looked up, as if taking his eyes off Wei Ying would hurt him.
"Lan Zhan look, the two are probably both of us from another reality."
Lan Zhan seemed to understand.
"Mn."
>Wei Wuxian< chuckled.
"As direct as always Lan Zhan, you two hardly seem to differ in character."
>Lan Wangji< huffed next to him, but he didn't seem to be annoyed at that statement.
Lan Zhan bowed to the both of them, which >Lan Wangji< immediately returned, while >Wei Wuxian< grinned and then mirrored the gesture.
"Aiyah! Lan Zhan where's our hospitality, come on we should at least get them something to drink while they're here."
Decided Wei Ying and >Wei Wuxian< could feel himself growing much more comfortable when alcohol was mentioned.
Lan Zhan nodded.
"Mn, we're going to rest at the Jingshi, I will prepare the tea."
>Lan Wangji< glanced over at >Wei Wuxian< as if to make sure everything was alright.
>Wei Wuxian< smiled broadly at him before he set off first and followed the other two men.
>Lan Wangji< did the same.
The way to the Jingshi was similar, the room was secluded and separated from the other sleeping quarters.
>Lan Wangji< suspected that the same fate befell the Lan Zhan in this reality in terms of family members.
They followed the two men inside, still examining the room, which had some similarities, but overall left >Lan Wangji< and >Wei Wuxian< with a strange feeling.
After all, this wasn't their room and they could almost taste it, >Wei Wuxian< immediately recognized the smell of cold sandalwood, whom he knew only too well from >Lan Wangji<, but there was another scent in the air.
It smelled fresh, a bit like grass and lotus with a spicy note.
It was his own smell that mingled with Lan Zhan’s.
The whole thing seemed a little too intimate to him, he tried to concentrate on something else.
Wei Ying gestured for the two newcomers to sit down while Lan Zhan prepared the tea.
When >Wei Wuxian< flopped down, a cup of wine was immediately pushed towards him.
"Emperor's Smile!"
He shouted with joy, as he downed the cup in one go.
Wei Ying seemed to agree with his enthusiasm, he also poured himself a cup.
"Gusu's wine is simply the best, I've been around a lot, but nothing comes close to this Liquor!"
Lan Zhan joins them, elegantly leaning forward to pour >Lan Wangji< some of the tea, he nodded his thanks.
"Lan Zhan, do you really allow the consumption of alcohol here? You don't seem so uptight after all!"
Laughing, >Wei Wuxian< emptied his second glass.
>Lan Wangji< carefully put the tea away from himself, facing the man.
"Alcohol is still prohibited, with few exceptions you should avoid consuming it here."
Speaking calmly, making >Wei Wuxian< pout and Wei Ying laugh.
"Hahaha! I haven't heard that for a long time! Lan Zhan you are really great!"
The heat crept up >Lan Wangji's< neck, but he just looked down, showing nothing.
Lan Zhan sighed and either >Wei Wuxian< had started hallucinating or Lan Zhan had just pinched Wei Ying's waist.
"Behave yourself, stop fooling around."
The words were spoken softly and with a touch of amusement, so they didn't seem like a request, and Wei Ying started grinning from ear to ear.
"But Er-Gege."
He hummed and leaned in close enough that he could have easily climbed into Lan Zhans lap.
>Wei Wuxian< choked, his hands got all sweaty, and then Wei Ying caressed Lan Zhan under his chin!
"You like it when I praise you like that, huh? Hanguang-jun, my dear husband?"
There was a clatter as >Lan Wangji< dropped his teacup onto the table, and moments later >Wei Wuxian< started coughing so hard that tears welled up in his eyes.
"H-husband?!"
>Lan Wangji< squeezed out, his voice hoarse, sounding almost like a whisper even though he was louder than a Lan cultivator should be.
Lan Zhan and Wei Ying looked at them in amazement until Wei Ying expelled an:
"Ah!"
"Sorry, I assumed you were married too, That must have scared you!"
Despite his words, it didn't sound like an apology at all.
"Married!"
>Wei Wuxian< had calmed down from his fit of coughing, he wiped the tears from his eyes, eyeing the two of them with a look of absolute disbelief, that it was almost amusing.
"Mn.”
Lan Zhan confirmed without even a hint of a change in his expression, and >Wei Wuxian< couldn't believe it.
Lan Zhan, the Hanguang-jun, had just agreed that he was married to Wei Ying, the Yiling Patriarch, a man! without any shame or retort!
>Wei Wuxian< quickly became dizzy and >Lan Wangji< didn't seem to be doing any better, his hands shaking and cramping briefly.
"I.."
>Lan Wangji< was speechless he looked down, hiding his face, which showed more emotion than usual for him.
"Since when?!"
>Wei Wuxian< managed to ask, his eyes round and big, his other self found the whole thing terribly funny.
A laugh escaped him and he actually just placed himself into Lan Zhan's lap!
"It should be four years now, we bowed to heaven and earth, then ourselves and have been a married couple ever since!"
>Wei Wuxian< didn't notice, as he was absolutely stunned himself, but >Lan Wangji< seemed to be shaking all over, his hands gripping his white robes so tightly that they threatened to tear at any moment.
"That… I-"
It was as if all words in >Wei Wuxian's< head were blown away, he had no idea how hot his cheeks were, he thought for a moment that he would rather run away from stray dogs than continuing this conversation.
"Aiyah, don't be so embarrassed, don't worry I won't dare anything, I'm really not that shameless."
Wei Ying's hand waved back and forth as if to reinforce his words, but unfortunately it didn't have the desired effect.
Lan Zhan leaned forward a little and if one hadn't been listening carefully, his words would probably have been lost in the commotion.
"I dare to doubt it."
A mock expression of shock appeared on Wei Ying's face.
"Er-Gege! How mean, otherwise you always agree with me! This is high treason, how can you betray me, a poor, weak man?! Hanguang-Jun I never expected something like that from you!"
The smile on Lan Zhan's lips was so faint as to be barely noticeable, but it was there and all of it was for Wei Ying.
"Wei Ying will survive."
His husband protested loudly at those words, and >Wei Wuxian< was able to recover from the shock a little, while his other self continued to whine loudly.
Only then he noticed how fast his heart was beating, he could hear it in his own eardrums, a surreptitious glance at >Lan Wangji< confirmed that he wasn't the only one who was struggling.
Normally he would crack a joke to downplay the awkward mood a bit, but his throat felt dry as a bone and he hoped that >Lan Wangji< would take the initiative.
Of course, that didn't happen, instead >Lan Wangji<, trembling, picked up his dropped teacup again, he seemed about to take a sip before realizing there was nothing left in the cup.
So he put it back on the table, his natural elegance managing to cover up the nervousness a little.
Lan Zhan noted that the two newcomers fell into an uncertain silence and felt a little sorry, after all it must have been shocking for them to suddenly find out their other selves were in such an intimate relationship.
Stroking his husband's waist, he gestured for him to slow down the teasing a bit.
Wei Ying understood and sighed with a smile, he would have liked to go even further, but if he didn't want to leave the two of them in an awkward mood he had to turn it down, he still refused to leave Lan Zhans lap though.
"You two are really lovely, now calm down, nobody is forced to do anything here!
Lan Zhan and I were just lucky enough to be able to go one step further.
Come on, I'll pour you another one!"
Wei Ying scrambled down slightly from his lover's lap to pour another glass for >Wei Wuxian<, who was taken aback when >Lan Wangji< suddenly held out his cup.
Perplexed, three pairs of eyes fixed on the cultivator, who didn't dare look at any of them, but to survive another minute in this room, he had to clear his head, or well- drown it with liquor.
At that moment he was ready to break his clan rules and that in front of his other reality self.
"Oho Lan Zhan! Someone's getting brave, please have a sip!"
Giggling, Wei Ying poured him a glass, which was immediately downed in one gulp.
>Wei Wuxian< didn't know whether to laugh or cry, even >Lan Wangji< had to numb his overflowing nerves with alcohol and that limited any dignity that >Lan Wangji< otherwise adorned himself with.
>Lan Wangji< slammed his cup down on the table, this time on purpose, and the two demonic cultivators watched him closely, knowing only too well what was to come next.
>Lan Wangji's< dark eyes glazed over and shortly thereafter his head was about to slam onto the table, but >Wei Wuxian< supported him quickly enough.
A small chuckle escaped Wei Ying, who was leaning comfortably against his husband's broad chest, clearly enjoying the show.
"My goodness Lan Zhan.. one would think that your tolerance would improve at some point."
Now >Wei Wuxian< had to laugh too, he could direct his attention to something else and no longer had to think of himself in wedding robes about to take his vows.
"Lan Zhan I really love you! Who falls asleep before they get drunk?"
Laughed Wei Ying and >Wei Wuxian< erased his last thought.
How could he not think of that?!
His head was bursting with all the thoughts of himself and >Lan Wangji< spending their lives together.
He wondered if they would sleep in the same bed, of course this had happened before, but it would be entirely different, considering they were going to be married this time!
Would they hug?
Maybe they would exchange kisses too.
Or-
Possibly even make love to one another!
Suddenly >Lan Wangji< shot up and >Wei Wuxian< jumped so hard that he hit the table with his knees, the dishes rattled.
The sound of his rapidly beating heart drowned out almost all other sounds, he felt caught and embarrassed, but he could not linger in his stupor any longer, for >Lan Wangji< decided to reach across the table, reaching out to the Emperor's smile.
Wei Ying was quicker however, and simply snatched it off the table, placing the bottle in his lap.
"Aiyah, that's enough Lan Zhan."
He admonished and >Lan Wangji< let out a dissatisfied huff of air as if he was about to complain out loud on purpose.
>Wei Wuxian< grabbed >Lan Wangji's< shoulders and pushed him back onto the seat cushion, which he endured with narrowed eyebrows.
"Mighty Hanguang-Jun! What has gotten into you?
If your uncle saw you like that, he would definitely spit blood again!"
>Wei Wuxian< didn't have to scold >Lan Wangji< like this a lot, it was usually the other way around.
However, it seemed that the Honorable Mr. Lan would take on the mentality of a child as soon as he had a drop of alcohol.
"Uncle wouldn't understand."
>Lan Wangji< grumbled, his lips red and pouting, making >Wei Wuxian< feel the urge to run his fingers over them.
When he became aware of this thought, he blamed it on the couple, who put strange nonsense in his head.
Suddenly, Wei Ying laughed out loud, attracting everyone's attention except his lover's.
Lan Zhan's ears seemed to glow a bright red, eyebrows furrowed, eyelashes trembling, >Wei Wuxian< found the sight delightful, he had never seen his >Lan Wangji< so embarrassed.
"Oh right! Lan Zhan this is the first time you'll experience yourself being drunk! Hahahaha! Don't be so ashamed! You really are so great Hanguang-Jun!"
Wei Ying couldn't seem to stop giggling, and while Lan Zhan looked like he was about to flee, >Lan Wangji< blinked at Wei Ying with a half-closed, veiled gaze.
"I apologize for my past behavior."
Lan Zhan murmured a little too softly, his head still turned away from the table, as if he would otherwise have to indulge his shame.
Wei Ying seemed to find the whole thing very amusing, as he practically threw himself against his lover's strong chest, his cup threatening to spill over with the hectic movement, which is why Lan Zhan gently took it from his hand.
There was a drunken tone in Wei Ying's giggles, which surprised >Wei Wuxian< a lot, as he wouldn't consider himself a lightweight at all.
"You don't have to apologize! Hahaha! If you knew what I did to you, you would have to punish me!"
Wei Ying's laughter was loud, but none of them seemed really bothered, too distracted by his poorly chosen choice of words.
A hand gripped Wei Ying's pale wrist, not painfully strong, but strong enough to tell Lan Zhan wasn't joking.
"Shameless."
The tips of his ears were all red, which >Wei Wuxian< thought was kind of cute.
"Wei Ying you are drunk."
Lan Zhan admonished, releasing his wrist only to gently stroke Wei Ying's glowing cheek.
>Wei Wuxian< thought Lan Zhan could joke after all, since it was known that the Yiling Patriarch was extremely good at drinking.
Wei Ying chuckled, burying his head under his husband's chin like a cat begging to be petted.
"Hm~ you're probably right Er-Gege... I still tend to overestimate this body."
Lan Zhan seemed to have heard his begging and gently stroked his hair.
"Wei Ying tends to overestimate himself in general."
Although it sounded like an accusation, Wei Ying knew better than anyone that Lan Zhan was referring to the selflessness he had often displayed in his youth.
This time >Wei Wuxian< was undeterred by the shameless gestures of his counterpart when he threw the next question into the room.
"This body? What do you mean by that?"
Lan Zhan looked over at him, Wei Ying seemed unable to answer.
"Mo Xuanyu's body is weaker than Wei Ying's original, but he still often finds it difficult to adapt."
Lan Zhan's voice sounded composed, but to >Wei Wuxian< it seemed as if a cloudy veil had briefly covered the cultivator's light eyes.
"I see.. then a soul sacrifice ritual was performed."
He was speaking more to himself than to Lan Zhan, which is why Lan Zhan didn't answer.
>Wei Wuxian< found the whole thing interesting, Mo Xuanyu had summoned him, but he was allowed to keep his body, he quickly felt a bit bad because of how often he had complained about the mask, where a completely foreign body is clearly the greater evil.
Suddenly a hand grabbed his cup.
"Lan Zhan!"
He said, startled, when >Lan Wangji< drained the last sip of the wine contained in it.
He had completely forgotten that >Lan Wangji< was still drunk!
As if he was now finished with his task, >Lan Wangji< got up, reached for Bichen and stepped towards the door of the Jingshi.
>Wei Wuxian< quickly rushed after him, grabbing his sleeve who he was tugging at, thus preventing his partner from moving.
Dissatisfied >Lan Wangji< grumbled and >Wei Wuxian< didn't know whether he should find the whole thing funny or horrible.
"What are you planning to do Lan Zhan? Where are you going?"
The answer to his question came quickly, if with a slight growl.
"To Gusu."
>Wei Wuxian< raised an eyebrow.
"We are in Gusu."
>Lan Wangji< didn't seem satisfied with this answer at all, his lips curled into what resembled a pout, he shook his head.
"No, not here."
He looked defiantly at his other self, in whose lap still sat Wei Ying, >Lan Wangji's< eyebrows furrowed.
"Not here!"
He repeated again, his voice seeming angry.
Maybe he felt disgust when he saw himself from another reality in such an intimate relationship with >Wei Wuxian< and now wanted to put an end to it all.
>Wei Wuxian< felt sick at this thought, of course he hadn't expected it either, but he didn't find the whole thing that pejorative.
"We will find a way tomorrow."
The deep voice of Lan Zhan cut through >Wei Wuxian's< darkening thoughts.
>Wei Wuxian< nodded his thanks, it really wouldn't be a good idea to wander the paths of the Cloud recesses at night, with a drunk Hanguang-Jun at risk of being seen.
But >Lan Wangji< didn't seem convinced, he just threw ice-cold looks in the direction of his other self, which didn't affect the other one at all.
"Wei Ying is gifted, he will meet success."
Lan Zhan tried to change >Lan Wangji's< mind and even if he was still not satisfied, he let go of the Jingshi's door, walked past >Wei Wuxian< and sat down again at the table with a: "Mn".
>Wei Wuxian< almost cried with joy about how quickly it worked, he knew only too well how stubborn Hanguang-Jun was, and especially when he was under the influence of alcohol, he hardly allowed himself to be dissuaded .
>Wei Wuxian< was still afraid of what might follow, but as if his unspoken prayers had been answered, the clock struck 9pm in the evening and as if on cue, >Lan Wangji's< veiled eyes closed.
•••
The next morning came surprisingly quickly, although the thoughts in >Wei Wuxian's< head were just circling.
His feelings were scattered and he had the feeling that he had to completely reorganize himself before he could even think about acting.
After >Lan Wangji< had cleaned himself up, the latter approached him and apologized for his behavior last night.
"Do you even know how you acted?"
>Wei Wuxian< didn't mean to tease him, really, but >Lan Wangji's< uncertain face was just too amusing.
"No."
He admitted and >Wei Wuxian< laughed when he actually wanted to cry.
He hadn't expected anything else and yet he wanted to bombard >Lan Wangji< with questions about his behavior.
But that wouldn't be fair, after all he wasn't ready to deal with these newly discovered feelings himself.
Sometimes it takes time.
Wei Ying, who had been meticulously searching for a method all morning, enlisted the help of >Wei Wuxian< after a few hours, who was only too happy to fill his head with something other than >Lan Wangji's< face.
The two turned the whole library upside down and as the clock struck noon, >Lan Wangji< and Lan Zhan joined them with food.
As Lan Zhan casually mentioned later, they seemed to have had a few conversations.
When >Wei Wuxian< looked over at >Lan Wangji< at this statement, he avoided any eye contact.
For a moment, >Wei Wuxian< felt queasy in the stomach, but then he saw the flushed neck, and relaxed a little.
>Lan Wangji< still seemed a little insecure towards him, but >Wei Wuxian< was sure that it will pass.
It was early in the evening when >Wei Wuxian< was going through another book until he found something that might be useful.
One passage spoke of occasional rifts in space and time where worlds intersected and connected.
"I think I found it."
Immediately, Wei Ying was beside him, peering over his shoulder.
He seemed to scan the whole thing for a few seconds before nodding.
"Seems about right, here it says, places where such anomalies occur, seem unnatural for their location. Strange weather conditions seem to take place, or plants sprout out of nowhere, suddenly with enormous rapidity."
>Wei Wuxian< remembered the flower circle they were standing in when they first arrived, he had paid little attention to it.
"Lan Zhan, did you two notice unusual weather for Gusu today, or a lot of plants in one place?"
The two men in white seemed to think for a moment as their eyebrows furrowed.
Wei Ying loved that expression, he had to restrain himself from kissing his husband on the forehead.
A few seconds of silence passed before Lan Zhan seemed to remember something, the crease between his eyebrows smoothing out again.
"By the rabbits. It was very warm out there today."
Now >Lan Wangji< seemed to remember, too, as he gave his other self a short nod.
>Wei Wuxian< happily stood up, clapping his hands once.
"Perfect, then we should check it out!"
Neither Wei Ying nor >Wei Wuxian< bothered to tidy up before leaving, as both light-footedly left the book pavilion.
Lan Zhan sighed in slight amusement, he would later ask Sizhui and Jingyi to clean up the mess before any of the elders took notice.
The two men followed the figures in black, who were chatting animatedly about a new idea for a talisman.
Lan Zhan noticed >Lan Wangji< glancing over at him again and again, the conversation they had had that morning, seemed to be still bothering him.
"Listen to the heart."
Lan Zhan repeated his words, he had integrated it at dawn, delivered something like a morality sermon.
>Lan Wangji< looked down, his eyelashes trembling.
It was a little strange being lectured by his other self, especially when it came to romantic feelings.
"Wei Ying is smart, he will understand."
>Lan Wangji< exhaled pent-up air, the grip on Bichen tightened.
"Mn."
A nod from Lan Zhan and then the familiar silence returned, broken only by the voices of the two demonic cultivators.
"Yes, and since then Jin Ling sometimes comes to visit, Sizhui and Jingy can be very persuasive."
Wei Ying told happily and >Wei Wuxian< had to grin broadly at this statement, after all, more years had passed in this universe than in his own.
He feels like that he too, will soon be able to have a better relationship with Jin Ling and maybe even Jiang Cheng, but he didn't want to worry about it too much for now.
The last few minutes on the way to the meadow passed quickly and then >Wei Wuxian< could also feel the unusually warm rays of the sun on his skin.
As if rejoicing at their arrival, many small, white, fluffy balls hopped toward them, their pink noses twitching curiously.
"So here we are, you were right Lan Zhan, it feels like the beginning of summer!"
Chirped Wei Ying and picked up one of the bunnies, who immediately settled into his arm, burying their tiny head in his chest.
>Wei Wuxian< was amused to see that most of the rabbits however immediately hopped over to the two men in white, as if they were faithfully greeting their masters.
A small smile crossed >Lan Wangji's< lips and suddenly >Wei Wuxian< felt his heart beating faster.
He really had a lot ahead of him when he was back in his reality, he wouldn't be able to swallow all these feelings like before.
The used to go unnoticed or even ignored, but he wouldn't be able to bury them that easily anymore.
"Wei Ying."
Voiced Lan Zhan and both men in black turned their heads around.
"Yes?"
The answer came as if from one mouth, which made >Wei Wuxian< halt in his movement for a brief moment and Wei Ying also made an uncomfortable face.
However, their attention was immediately drawn elsewhere, as Lan Zhan nodded towards the edge of the meadow, where a large circle of flowers suddenly spread out on the ground.
>Wei Wuxian< recalled the previous day.
"Lan Zhan we also stood in a circle full of flowers yesterday, remember?"
>Lan Wangji< confirmed.
"Mn."
Everyone seemed to understand quickly, >Wei Wuxian< and >Lan Wangji< put themselves in the middle of the circle of flowers.
It was even warmer in the circle than outside and >Wei Wuxian< briefly considered opening his robes but quickly decided against it, his other self was walking around shameless enough for both of them.
Wei Ying smiled at them, the bunny in his arms peeping out as well, ears pricked.
"Then it's time to say goodbye, it was very interesting to get to know you."
Wei Ying grinned widely and leaned into his husbands chest, who nodded, giving support to his words.
>Wei Wuxian< looked at the two of them furtively, he too felt the need to snuggle up to >Lan Wangji<, while the man would grab his waist.
Instead he waved goodbye, a laugh playing around his lips as well.
Lan Zhan looked from >Wei Wuxian< to his other self and fixated him with his light eyes intently.
"Listen to the heart."
He reminded and >Lan Wangji< looked down with another shaky exhalation before nodding and bowing.
Lan Zhan did the same.
"Huh?"
>Wei Wuxian< made a noise of confusion, but before either >Wei Wuxian< or Wei Ying could further ask what Lan Zhan meant by that, the two men from another reality had disappeared.
A fresh breeze blew across the rabbit meadow and Wei Ying shivered a little, his grip tightened around the small white animal in his arms.
"And they're gone. That was something."
Lan Zhan glanced down at the flowers swaying in the wind before turning away, his hand gently cupping his husband's waist.
The well-known sound of the waterfall could be heard further back, which had a calming effect on the two men, the last few hours had been nerve-wracking, although extremely interesting.
"What do you think Lan Zhan, will we see more visitors from other worlds?"
Wei Ying asked after a few minutes of silence and Lan Wangji looked down at him.
"Maybe."
Wei Ying made a thoughtful noise before releasing the now restless bunny from his grip, which immediately joined its fellows.
"I'll probably read trough the scrolls again, maybe I'll find out more by researching- Aiyah!"
He touched the bridge of his nose as if he had a headache.
"I made such a mess in the library, Shufu will definitely spit blood again before he scolds me."
He rubbed his face lamentingly before Lan Zhan took Wei Yings slightly smaller hands in his own.
"Sizhui and Jingy will take care of it, Uncle won't be back until tomorrow noon."
Lan Zhan calmed him down and brought his hand up to his lips to place a soft kiss on it.
Wei Ying melted away, a smile lighting up his face.
"Really Lan Zhan, you let others work for me."
His husband hummed in confirmation.
"Anything for Wei Ying."
Bright eyes met dark ones and Wei Ying couldn't help but kiss Lan Zhan.
"You are really amazing Hanguang-Jun, what would I do without you?"
It was a rhetorical question, so Lan Zhan didn't answer it, instead he wrapped his arms around Wei Ying and held him up like a bride.
