   Tess' arm was still lazily draped behind Joel's neck, and she could distantly notice some kid crying across the hall. Joel's hold on Tess never for a second loosened, and on the street below, he heard FEDRA making their patrols.

   But there was nothing in here that could touch them. Not right now.

   No, there was nothing but the two of them recovering from the last ten minutes as one might after being thrust forward violently during a crash--a little shock at the suddenness of it. Surprise that it had just happened at all. Awe that they were still there in one piece on the other side of it. Reluctance to get out and see the damage left behind.
