Chapter 1: Fell on deaf ears

Chapter Text

A calm afternoon after their adventure and weekly visit to Philza and chayanne. The sun is setting the river is cold with loads of fish in it and Tallulah insisted on fishing in which he can’t say no to.

“Papa,” Talullah called him he gently out his guitar aside. “What’s the matter little one?” his daughter pointed to a strange man sanding across their tree house. Quackity.

Wilbur pursed his lips and gently asked for Tallulah for “Stay put, just stay fishing okay, my dear?” Tallulah noded and Wilbur clenched his hand.

He makes a way across the river to the man. Wilbur fold his hand to his chest “What are you doing here Quackity?” Wilbur ask with a sharp tone and Quackity tched.

“I just want to return this,” Quackity shoved a red knitted beanies to Wilbur’s chest, “Your kid left it at my house,” And Wilbur strained a smile.

“That “kid” has a name Quackity, Tallulah is her name in case you forgot,” Wilbur replied with sarcasm and Quackity rolled his eyes.

“Oh yeah? Like you forgot to take care of Tilin when you pretending to be a rock star wannabe?” Quackity bite back, “I don’t have a choice Quackity.”

“Well at least say hi to him, you know how hard it is for him to not know his other parent and yet you still call Tallulah every other day every time you go out your tour!” Quackity snapped “You don’t even care enough to visit him!”

Wilbur stay silent for a while and sigh “Fine, I’ll visit him at Saturday how’s that,” Quackity huffs and stormed off.

-

Tallulah has very good hearing, maybe that is why she is a child protege at musical and arts. She also know that there is a…disagreement between uncle Quackity and her papa so there is no surprise that she heard the fight they have across the body of water seperating them. Tallulah winced at the screams and tries to distract herself by continue on fishing. After the fight she can hear footsteps of her papa closing in towards her.

She feels a soft fabric on top of her head and she looked up to her father and smiled brightly, “Papa!” Wilbur smiled back and ruffled her hair. She holds the red beanie to catch it and Wilbur sit beside of her.

“Next time be more careful of your belongings,” He touched Tallulah’s cheek And she laughs nervously.

“Promise papa!” Hearing that Wilbur laugh and hug his daughter softly.

-

The afternoon ends and the night came, the stars is hung in the sky by the goddess of death to light the mortal realm’s darkness and fed off evil spirits. Tallulah loves the tale of the Goddess of death and her angel, she always ask for the tale of the angel of death journey to her papa before bed time or on occasion the tale of the golden haired boy.

“Papa, I want to hear how the angel of death meet The goddess of death again!” She shakes Wilbur and Wilbur laughs “Alright, Alright now stay put and I’ll sing the tale for you”

A long time ago in a faraway land a mighty adventurer arrives on the isle of the end.

He defeated the abyss dragon with hard work and creates a sanctuary on the remains of the isle to honor the goddess of death.

Hearing this, the goddess of death descended from among the stars to the curious adventurer he hold his hand and gives him the wing made out of obsidian but as soft as a feather, she also granted him companions in the form of a murder of crows.

They fell in love with each other and the result of that love is three beautiful children.

The first child is as mighty as the sea untamed as he is silent, above all else the first born values freedom with his mighty axe he seeks to free all pain from the world.

The second child has a voice as beautiful as a song bird his words carries magic that even can deceit even the smartest of mortals, but he use his words wisely to not hurt other people instead he uses his voice to make other people happy, entertaining them with songs.

The third child is as bright as the sun his happiness has an affect on other people such as his sadness, the third child is like a drop of sunlight granted into this realm, above all else the third child wished for happiness to be granted to all of the creatures on the realm.

However because the three children didn’t have a complete heavenly body they are tied to the mortal realm, the goddess of death wished for the angel of death to take care of her children in the mortal world below, but because of this they are separated between the heaven and mortal realm.

Wilbur finished his story and sees Tallulah leaning onto him, he picked her up and gently places her to the bed he stroked her hair softly and put a warm blanket around her, he cherishes his child as much as he cherish his brothers.

He kissed her softly on the fore head and pull the light off.

--

Quackity comes back to his home when the stars has already hung at the sky, his knee ache because of the distance between his and Wilbur’s house. He should’ve use the waypoint but his gut forced him to walk, closing the distance between- ugh no.

The sight of the big red bow captured his attention and he smiles, “Tilin? Oh my I wonder who’s there?” he can hear sweet giggles echoing through the room, and he slowly walked.

“Oh my surely there is no,” He grabbed Tilin’s body and hug her “monsters in our home!” And Tilin’s loud laugh burst out she grabbed Quackity’s neck and hug it.

“My my what do we have here? A little monster trying to scare me,” Quackity tickles his son by the stomach. “Papi!” Tilin continue to hug him.

“ah, why are you awake? Shouldn’t Tio Roier tuck you to sleep?” Quackity questions the little child. Tilin giggles “I tried! But if papi’s not here then I can’t go to sleep!”

Quackity brings the little child to Tilin’s room, decorated with constellations themed things, moon as a lamp and stars hanging through the ceiling. Right before Tilin falls asleep “Can you read me a story?”

“Of course my moonlight, how about the story I once battled la llorona on the mountain with a holy water and gun?” And Tilin excitedly jump. “A long time ago…”

Quackity tell her how the battle go and how it ended, and Tilin still tugs at his shirt “When will papa come visit me?” Quackity clenches his hand but pats Tilin on the head softly.

“At Saturday, he tell me of how much he wanted to meet you,” Quackity forced her a smile. And Tilin’s eyes twinkled.

“Really?! papa will come visit me?” Tilin looks at quackity hopefully and quackity gives her a smile. “Yes, only for you,” Quackity hold her hands and she slowly felt sleepy.

“i- hoam love you papi,” Tilin says as she drifted to sleep. “I love you too Tilin,” Quackity softly replies.

His moonlight…huh that’s how Wilbur used to call him. All he has now is Tilin, a new moon his stars and constellations shinning brightly for his darkest nights.
