Chapter Text

You feel a wave of tension walking through the previously bustling and now nearly empty corridor. First day of school, and already running late.

You correct yourself. First day of public school. It's not as if you've received no education whatsoever before today, just always tutored at home. You're 15 years old after all, and not even the worst off commoners could go that long without enrolling into some form of curriculum.

And you remember what father said before he left for his mandatory business trip. It would be necessary to start attending a public school in order to get some level of certification, as well as to start communicating with more people. Of course, you're used to being alone, your parents are usually out of the house for long periods of a time, especially of late, with the regular crew of assistants staying near the lobby room as they would always be, along with the advisory quartering in the right wing. But this time, it seems as if the entire advisory along with half of the assistant staff have left overnight, leaving the house much more hollow than usual. Strange... What were you thinking about again? Ah;

People... it's not as if just the sight or even touch of a person drives you down the deep end, but you've always struggled speaking to others for some reason. Even with father. Being a noble yourself was already 85% of your future and career, however you already knew how the House Louvre valued traditional work ethic. Even though you were caught off guard from the sudden announcement, it would be foolish to object. Not only that, but you've caught wind that the house was in a bit of trouble. Whispers. Suspicion. Rumors. But it couldn't be that important. Father hasn't spoke to you about anything related to issues. And if it was that bad, wouldn't the Aristocrats want to intervene?

Anywho, the school you're in now, Ten Judges Academy, isn't any plain old school by any means of course. You've heard that it was in fact one of the most prestigious of its kind. And likewise, the BIGGEST. Sheesh! In fact, it might be triple the size of even your own home. You don't go outside often, and if you do, it is either in your garden or a quick trip to the local shoppe. It's strange in a way, it feels like this is the farthest you've ever needed to walk in your entire life.

But alas, after going through hallway after hallway you're almost to your first class. And you might just make it on time too. Should be just around this-

SMASH!

In an instant, you're on the floor along with the small stack of books you were carrying. Your head hurts... Better get those books you dropped. One, two, three, four, fi- Hey, wait, you only brought two books with you! It also occurs to you at this moment that, you did not recall smacking into a wall, but you are in the other side of the hallway you were previously at. So it means, you must have smacked into a..

"Hey!" You hear a voice.

Looking up with dizziness, you're met with light green eyes, light black hair, and a stern expression. It occurs to you at this moment, that, these features are traits of a girl such as yourself.

"Don't you see where you're going you moron?! You just-"

The girl stops abruptly and her expression quickly turns noticeably mellow.

"Hold on, I don't think I've ever seen you before," The girl says. "What's your name?"

You blush lightly.

...

"Hell-looo?" the girl inquires. "Anyone there?"

These are the exact 'conversations' you loathe getting into. You can't even speak to tell her what your name is. You figure that you'd better get used to it and proceed with your day. You don't need speech to get a degree, after all.

You bow to her, then pick up the two books you needed for your block and proceed further, until you feel a hand on your shoulder. The brunette girl.

"That book you have.. you're heading to Math 01 aren't you?"

You nod.

"Well, you're not even going the right way." She scoffs. "I also happen to have Math 01. So you can follow me to class, NOT because I want to help you or anything but the bell is about to ring, so you might as well just follow my lead."

She starts walking towards the hallway across from the fork you turned at, and you swiftly follow behind. The both of you made it to class right on time, and settle down in your assigned sheets. Ah... you've never been stellar with math.

"That girl.. is a total. weirdo! Plus she was literally ignoring everything I asked her when we were in the hallway! Me! I can't believe it! But hey, wait... Ten Judges Academy rarely accepts students midway into the school year.. could it be that she's some sort of genius? She gives off commoner vibes, but it's possible that she's a high noble as well. It'd be better to get on her good side and figure out what to do with her later. But again, a little gossip never REALLY hurt anyone! I snuck a peek at her paper on the teacher's desk Hehe.. let's see what you're made of Enri!"
