Chapter Text
Padme Naberrie.
A friend. An old friend.
He should’ve gone to her. He could’ve told her, confessed everything, turned away from it all. But the hot-headed idiot that he was held back. He followed orders, kept his head down, and watched the galaxy burn at his master’s side.
Darth Vader pulled the datapad closer to his face, eyes squinting against the bright contrast in the darkness. Her name stood out in a garish shade of red. The aurebesh glared back at him.
PADME NABERRIE.
A mockery of his former self, or at least, the man who wanted better for himself…for her. She was now his enemy. The file on his datapad confirmed the truth: a rebel suspected of high treason against the Empire.
She was lost to him. He’d let her go, forced her to go.
And now?
He would be forced to find her. To bring her to justice. To lead her to her death at his own hands.
But would he do it? Could he? Shouldn’t any intelligence agent be able to suss her out of hiding? Why did it fall on Vader’s shoulder to kill his former beloved. Sidious’ sick sense of irony stung. He never wanted this for either of them. Love wasn’t meant for Sith lords, and his master knew it.
Padme Naberrie was going to die. And Lord Vader would see to her end.
