Kaylan was lying on her bed, turning from side to side. It's hard for her to go to sleep. "Hm. I can't sleep," said Kaylan to herself as she got out of her bed and put on her glasses. She walked out of her room and walked down the hall to Estella's room. Kaylan laid her bandaged hand on the door as she pushed it open waking up her older adoptive sister. "Kaylan, why are you awake?" Estella asked as she rubbed her eyes to look at the young girl standing near her doorway. "I can't sleep..." Kaylan replied shyly. "Oh." replied Estella as she got out of her bed and went over to Kaylan, kneeling down to her height. "Is there anything that can help you go to sleep?" asked Estella. "Maybe a story, a fairytale to be specific." Kaylan replied. "Oh, ok, let's go to your room and I will tell you a fairytale, ok." said Estella. "Oki" said Xingchen. Both sisters walked to Kaylan's room. As Kaylan laid on her bed, Estella said "Ok, Kaylan, you see this fairytale is special." "Oooo, really!!" exclaimed Kaylan, her eyes filled with glee. "This fairytale is called The Little Star Girl." said Estella as she continued. "Once upon a time, there was a little girl born with a name that means star. She was born in Malaysia with her mom, her dad, her younger sister and her pet dog. The young girl had a rough childhood. She really didn't get along with her family. However, there's one family member that is the worst to her: Her younger sister." "Why her younger sister?" asked Kaylan. "I will tell you why, Kaylan." replied Estella.

"Hey! How come you didn't take me with you to the movies?! Big sisters always have to be her little sisters!" yelled Zena who looked really angry. "Zena, I can't spend 24 hours with you all the time, also I want to do things on my own." said Estella calmly. "Excuses!" yelled Zena, who kicked her older sister's knee. "Your my big sister, you should be with me at all times!" Zena continued to yell. "Zena, when your older, you need to learn to not be attached to me." said Estella. "I will tell on you!" yelled Zena. Hearing that made Estella's face look in fear. "Ok, you can come with me." said Estella gloomly. "Yeah!" said Zena happily as she held her older sister's hand, who looked really depressed.

“The star girl, being the oldest was given more expectations out of her more. While her younger sister is favorited and can get away with anything, because of this, it fueled a very not-great personality in her younger sister.” “The only person in her family that the star girl got along with was the family dog.” “It reminds me of Laila.” said Kaylan with a smile. “Haha, yes, that’s true.” replied Estella. “The star girl and the dog spend a lot of time together whenever the star girl is not near her younger sister, though however, it makes the younger sister not happy and can jealous of the dog.” “How can she be jealous of a dog?” asked Kaylan. “Eh, who knows.” Estella replied as she continued the story. “As the years passed by, things didn’t get any better for the star girl. Until one summer day, the star girl and her family went on vacation. This is also the first time that the star girl and her younger sister did not spend any time with each other as the younger sister made some friends. Because of this, the star girl believed that since her younger sister had made some friends, that she would change. But it didn’t last that long. Because soon, the younger sister and her friends are being mean to her.” “Estella, did the star girl try to stop her younger sister and her friends from being mean to her?” asked Kaylan. Estella went silent when she heard of what her younger sister had said. But Estella let out an exhale and looked at the younger girl. “Well, Kaylan, you see, the younger sister told the star girl that if she told on her, she and her friends would hurt the dog.” “Why would someone hurt a doggie?!” asked Kaylan with shock. “Well, Kaylan, people do that and of course that’s wrong.” said Estella. “It continued during the first half of the vacation, the star girl doesn’t know what to do.” “Though of course, there will be days where the star girl isn’t confronted by her younger sister and her friends, as long as she enjoys her vacation.”

Estella and Laila walked down a street that is near the hotel. “To be honest, Laila, let’s get something to eat, shall we?” said Estella as looked down at the small golden retriever who let out a small bark. Estella let out a small laugh as she and her dog continued walking. But suddenly, the two were stopped by Zena and her friends. “Zena, if you and your friends are going to beat me to the ground again, just do it.” said Estella. “You, bodoh!” yelled out Zena as she kicked her older sister’s knee really hard. “Ow! Zena!” yelped Estella. “You know, Estella, I just realized something: Your a horrible big sister!” yelled Zena. “Huh, Zena, what do you mean, I am trying to be a good big sister for you.” replied Estella. “Shut up!” Zena continued to yell as she kicked Estella’s other knee, almost causing Estella to fall down. “You never spent any time with me and-and you also don’t want to do anything with me!” said Zena with pure anger and hatred in her eyes as glared at the taller girl. “Look, Zena, I am sor-” “Hey, she said shut up!” yelled one of Zena’s friends as they punched her arm. Zena then turned and glared at Laila, who was barking and growling at her. “And I won’t let that stupid dog get in my way!”

But before Estella can say another sentence in the story, she heard some noise outside of Kaylan’s room. “Well, good night, Kaylan, I will finish the story tomorrow.” said Estella as she tucked Kaylan in and gave her a kiss on the forehead before turning off the lamp. Estella walked out of Kaylan’s room, just to be stopped by her other found sisters. “We heard of the story that your telling to Kaylan.” said Hadley. “Yeah!” said Finnley. “Estella, I am not going to lie, but your star girl fairytale sounds like of that one story that you remembered of a time that happened to you when your were eleven.” said Maureen. “Omg, yeah and the part where you meet Mrs. Suyin at the end!” laughed Layla as the other siblings laughed. “What, guys, no, the fairytale that I told to Kaylan is not the same as the story I told you guys and also I am not completely sure if the girl that I met on my vacation was really Suyin.” replied Estella. “Haha, yeah right.” said Hazel. “Anyways, good night.” said Estella as she went to her room. She laid down on her bed, thinking about the memory that happened to her when she was eleven and the fairytale that she told to Kaylan. “Do you believe in fairytales?” Estella whispered to herself before drifting off to sleep.

As Zena’s other friend kicked Estella in the stomach, Estella fell down on the ground, clenching on her stomach. Zena scooped up Laila who was still barking and growling at her. “C’mon, guys, let’s go.” said Zena as she and her friends started running away from Estella, who was on the ground. “No, Zena, give Laila back!” said Estella as she tried to get up. “Hey, you heard her, give her dog back!” Estella heard. “Ugh, fine, let’s go, guys!” hissed Zena as she threw Laila to the ground as she and her friends left. Estella slowly got up and in front of her is a girl, holding Laila in her arms. “Hi.” said the girl. “Hi.” said Estella. The girl then walked over to Estella and gave Laila to her. “I am Suyin.” “Estella.”
