Looking out for you

Summary:

Dazai seeing Atsushi as his kid, and being possessive over him.

Work Text:

He doesn't know when he started to see his new mentee as a son. Perhaps it all started when he first laid his own eyes on the sunset pair of eyes of the young adult. But even then, he does not wish to get rid of this mind set, as he sees no problem with it, as long as nobody knew of it.

It was at the end of the day when Dazai suggested that they should go on a walk together before heading their own separate ways. Atsushi, being a people pleaser, accepted, however, as much as he likes to please people, he also likes to spend time with his suicidal mentor, as weird as that sounds.

Both men were walking through a park together, the sun low behind the mountains, creating a sunset color in the sky. Atsushi was looking at the flowers and trees, while Dazai was silently observing his surroundings. Something caught his eye, and he couldn't help but notice how Atsushi's hair looked soft, almost like a cats fur after being groomed. He resisted the urge to run his hand through the silver hair. The thought of having this adorable, young boy, who looked up to him as a trustful figure, filled Dazai with a warm, fuzzy feeling inside.

As they continued their walk, Dazai began to realize just how precious this child was to him. Any potential threat that could endanger him would be met with unforgiving pain. Dazai imagined many scenarios where Atsushi could potentially be harmed, and he became furious at the idea of such a thing. And even when the tiger was kidnapped, hunted and almost killed, back then he was in denial with his own feelings towards the younger, so he thought it didn't matter that much. He vowed never to let that happen, and was determined to protect Atsushi with his life.

As they continued their walk, Dazai looked down at Atsushi and realized that his heart was fluttering with pride and affection. This child was the light of his world, and he was now nothing without him. a feeling that was beyond description. Atsushi looked up at Dazai with his big, innocent, doeful eyes, and suddenly Dazai knew that he would be willing to do anything for this child. He took Atsushi's hand and held him tightly, feeling an overwhelming wave of love and protection for this precious boy.

Atsushi looked up at the older man and smiled, glad to be spending time together despite their busy schedules. The way that Dazai was looking at him was...different. It felt like he was seeing him with a new set of eyes, and it made Atsushi feel both confused and nervous. He wasn't sure how to respond to this sudden change of perspective. The warmth of Dazai's hand was comforting, and Atsushi couldn't help but enjoy the feeling.

As they were walking through the park, Atsushi began to notice the sound of bird chirps and the rustling of leaves in the trees. As they walked across the bridge over the pond, Atsushi noticed the light reflecting from the fish in the water. Suddenly, he realized that he wasn't thinking about the homework he had to do or the exam he was studying for. Instead, he was fully present in the moment, enjoying the warm sunlight and the quiet beauty of the park. He looked over at Dazai and smiled, feeling a sense of peace and safety in his presence.

Dazai sighed at the sight of the silver headed boy smiling. He wishes he could go back in time and get Atsushi out of that damn orphanedge, maybe then he could have had a normal childhood, but he knows that even if he adopted him before all of this, he probably wouldn't have been a good dad. But what else can he do other than move on from the past and create new begginings.

So for now as they sit down on a bench overlooking the sunset, he breathed in the cold air as the weretiger lays his head on the older mans shoulder, now, at this moment, they don't have to worry about anything, just content being in eachothers presence.

¨I'm proud of you, Atsushi.¨ Dazai smiled as he laid his hand on Atsushi's head.

For now he is calm and happy to be with the person who he considers to be his child.
