She grins again, and that caged beast is back. Yuuji hasn’t seen it in a while. The sight chills him to the bone. Maybe he’s starting to get where Mimiko and Nanako had been coming from, hiding behind him all those years ago.

He could feel the cursed energy of his oldest and most visibly human brother behind the second door, which he opened with more enthusiasm than he probably should've used. The man had been seated on a table with a mirror propped up in front of him, deep in concentration as he brought something Yuuji recognised as a makeup brush padded with something purple towards his left eye.
Had been, because the sound of the door slamming open caused Choso to startle and jab himself in the eye with the brush, whirling around to meet Yuuji’s panicked expression.
“Sorry! Sorry. Are you okay?”
“I’m alright,” Yuuji’s brother said, trying to act as though he wasn’t desperately blinking tears from his eyes. “You just startled me a little is all.”
(Or, the young spirit of an expecting older brother enters Choso's body in the womb and decides that the life of a curse is, in fact, not the path he wants his brothers to lead, no matter how difficult. Despite a few hiccups and bumps in the road, it ends up alright in the end.)
