Work Text:

Ahsoka sat on the steps to the Jedi temple. Her hands cupping her face, staring into the blue, orange and pink sky.

The y wings flew through the sky with such ease. They were so coordinated, like a flock of birds. They danced with each other, it was artistic, it was purposeful. They moved like they were having a conversation. They moved like they were having fun. They were.

Ahsoka sighed. She tried to think about the last time she really talked to anyone. Well, anything other than war. They talked a lot about that. Even in her down time, she was strategizing with clones or practicing with her master. But when was the last time she was really able, to go out and hang with some friends… or really, anybody at all. She wondered if she was ever going to be able to relax after the war. She spent so long in fight or flight, she didn’t know how to just, have fun.
She didn’t deserve that.

“Do I even.. have any friends? … other than Anakin and Rex. I guess… obi wan? No, he doesn’t even even see me as an equal… I guess we aren’t. He’s definitely a lot older…” Ahsoka sighed, she was lonely.

Some clones passed by, chatting and laughing away.

Ahsoka smiled, “Maybe i can join in.” She got up and ran over, waving her hand. “Hey guys! What’s up? You’re from the 195th, right?” She smiled.

They stopped laughing and quickly turned. “Ah, a youngling.” She frowned at the comment, “We’re busy, does one of the Masters have a new mission for us?”

Her brows furrowed, “Uh, Padawan. I’m a padawan learner actually- but no,” She tried to soften her tone, as to not sound annoyed, “I actually just wanted to have a conversation with you guys, you seemed to be having fun.” She grinned, politely.

The clones looked at each other. One of them leaned over to the other and said, “Oh. Now I recognize her… She’s General Skywalker’s apprentice.” He sneered ever so slightly, a blink and you’ll miss it tone.

The other one leaned in, as to cover his voice, “Ohhh, I heard about her. The disrespectful youngling. Poor Skywalker, I’d sign 1000 rejection forms if I had to be assigned that one.” He chuckled.

The other clones laughed, not even subtly.

Ahsoka’s face tightened into a scowl, “Oh yeah? Well General Skywalker doesn’t seem to agree! I think he likes the “youngling” who can take out a hundred clankers in under 5 minutes, just fine!” She stormed off, but as she did she heard them again,

“Who let her be a padawan? She’s obviously too emotional.” He scorned.

Another clone laughed and replied, “Yeah, I thought Jedi were supposed to be wise and under control. Not some annoying brat.

“Ugh!” Ahsoka wanted to tear up… but wouldn’t that be letting them get what they want? Was she really… annoying? Either way, it’s them who’ll be getting the last laugh. Just wait until Anakin hears about this, he’ll be livid.

She walked through the corridors until she got to Anakin’s room. She was about to knock on the door when it opened itself. Anakin stood in front of her.

He scowled

“What’s wrong snips? I’m kind of busy, we have a new mission we’ve been assigned.” He raised an eyebrow, slightly worried.

Ahsoka opened her mouth to speak a couple times, suddenly feeling silly, then finally said “I was talking with some soldiers from the 195th and… Well I was just trying to join their conversation and- they said I was annoying and too young to be a padawan and-“

“Whoa, slow down there snips, you’re rambling.” Anakin put his hands on her shoulders and she swatted them off.

“They were- They’re just complete jerks!” She fumed.

Anakin concerned face, turned to a look of “ohhh I understand the problem now” and it was mixed with feigned pity. She hated it. “To be fair, Snips, you are young to be a padawan. I don’t think stating a fact is meant to be an insult to you.” He chuckled.

Ahsoka’s face contorted into a look of shock and betrayal. “What? No- They were just- Ugh! They said I was annoying!” She crossed her arms and looked away.

Anakin lightly turned her face back to him with his hand.

“Ahsoka.” He said sternly, “We have a mission we need to attend to. I think this can wait. Now, I understand you might have gotten your feelings hurt, but a Jedi does not let that sort of thing get to them. And besides, you can be a little temperamental… especially when it’s about your age.” He tried to smile as a comfort to her, but it just made Ahsoka more angry.

Why wasn’t Anakin defending her?

Oh.

He thinks I’m annoying too.
