Chapter Text
Alex gratefully sighed as his mom pulled into their driveway, the unshed tears burning against his eyes as he tried to play cool for a bit longer. Grabbing his bag and heading inside, unlocking the door himself, and beelining straight to his room after turning off the alarm. He dropped his bag by his closet door and kicked his room door shut, beofre walking over and falling onto his bed. His phone layed on the edge of his mattress as he scooted towards the wall his bed was pressed against and ugged a pillow to himself, silent sobs shaking his shoulders as tears streamed down his face. He was pathetic. The election hadn't even happened yet and he was sobbing over the idea of losing. TO be fair, it would be embarrassing to lose, but even worse to lose against Miguel Ramos.
See, the pair had been close in elementary school, being the class clowns in third grade, but drifted apart as they hit middle school. While Miguel had gone into theatre and drama clubs, Alex had stuck to the more brainy clubs, like Mathletes and Odyssey of the Mind. Realistically, Alex knew he was the better fit for this. He had been the one who was good at math, the one who willingly joined a math club AND got second place in the 24-game competition. But, it was a vote by their year. And, although the people in their year weren't sll from the two's old school, there were still a significant amount. Meaning Miguel may end up winning the election due to popularity, seeing as Alex was in all honors classes and only really conversed with those in the same classes as him, while others found him annoyingly loud and obnoxious.
Alex's phone ringing cut through his train of thoughts, and he sighed as he stretched to pick up the phone and check the caller ID.
'King of My Heart'
Alex frowned. He wasn't really in the mood to talk to Henry at the moment, but he didn't want his boyfriend to worry. Ignoring those thoughts, he declined the call and dropped his phone so it was laying on his mattress again as he burrowed under his blankets and sobbed. A few seconds later, however, his phone rang again. He was confused as he checked the caller ID.
'Brainiac'
Why Nora would be calling him, he didn't know, but he accepted her call.
"What?" He deadpanned, exhausted and wanting to go back to crying.
The only response to his question was the 'beep' of someone hanging up. Alex pulled the phone away from his ear and sighed as he saw what Nora had done. She had called him while being on call with Henry, joined the calls to make a conference call, and had hung up to essentially put Alex and Henry indirectly on the phone with each other. After making a mental note to kill Nora later, Alex put the phone back up to his ear.
"What?" He repeated, knowing Henry was listening.
"Are you alright, love?" Henry asked, worry undertoning his voice, even through the phone.
Alex smiled softly at the pet name before the smile dropped and he sighed, again. "'M fine, Hen."
"Are you sure, darling?" Henry pushed, the lilt of his British accent soothing Alex.
"I'm fine, Hen, I promise." Alex assured him, although Alex was anything but fine at this point.
"Really?" Henry persisted, and Alex let out a frustrated sigh.
"Yes, Henry, I'm fine." Alex muttered, rubbing his temples.
"You aren't, love," Henry said, and before Alex could question anything, he heard a knock on his window. He turned to se his boyfriend standing outside, phone to his ear, and waving. "You aren't fine, Lex."
Alex's bottom lip wobbled and he hung up on Henry as he scrambled to the window, unlocking it and opening it to help Henry in. Once the blond was in Alex's room, he shut the window and relocked it, before turning to his boyfriend. Wordlessly, Henry walked forward and pulled Alex into a hug, the Latinos head buried in Henry's shoulder as the British boy rested his head on top of Alex's. Henry's arms wrapped around Alex's hips, while Alex's arms encircled Henry's torso. Alex sobbed, loud and ugly ones that got muffled by the fabric of Henry's shirt, and Henry rubbed small circles on the small of Alex's back in a soothing manner. That was all he needed right now, Henry to be there and comfort him. He would explain later, he was sure Henry had questions, but right now he was busy crying his eyes out.
