Their interaction started with a session of laughter. As Ash and Brock approached Dawn, the latter noticed that Ash was also wearing a silly pair of glasses and had his hat tilted down to hide his identity. Brock didn't really need to hide anything as he wasn't a Champion or a Top Coordinator, but the other two were very well-known celebrities at this point and Dawn made it clear that what she needed to talk about did not regard the public.
Pikachu and Croagunk greeted Piplup separately before all taking a seat on the grass, the other trio doing exactly so. After gazing up at the beautiful clear sky, Dawn turned to her two best friends.
"So, I have something I want to tell you guys..." she began.
Ash raised an eyebrow. "Which is...?"
She chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of her head. A light blush appeared on her face as she stumbled over her words, not sure of how to say what she wanted to say.
"Take your time, we're in no rush," Brock said, patting Dawn on the shoulder.
"Trust me, I know. We're not leaving here until I say this, it's just..." Dawn then quickly frazzled her hair in frustration. "Okay fine! I-"
Ash then shushed Dawn, reminding her of her own words, that she didn't want this to be a public thing. Realizing how loud she was, she stopped, took a deep breath, and spoke in a quieter and gentler voice.
"I like guys...-"
"Yeah, I already knew that" Ash quickly said.
"...and girls..." she continued.
"Pika?!"
"Croa?!"
"Lup" Piplup nodded, laughing at Pikachu and Croagunk's shock.
Ash immediately ate his own words, as he and Brock turned to each other. They both shared a wide-eyed stare, not having expected that to be what she wanted to tell them. But when they both turned to look back at Dawn, she already had tears streaming down her face.
"Woah woah woah! Dawn, what's the matter?" Brock asked.
She sniffled, stuttering as she spoke. "I just...don't know how you feel about this...about me..."
"Dawn, wait, don't tell me you think we would...Dawn!" Ash realized what she meant, shuffling over and wrapping her in a hug which Brock joined.
"We're surprised, but we don't think of you any differently!" Brock assured her.
"Yeah!" Ash nodded. "I think it's awesome that you made that decision, we'll support you with whichever way you go!"
"Pi-ka!" Pikachu exclaimed in agreement.
Dawn then began to cry even more, overwhelmed by the outpour of support from Ash and Brock. They were obviously tears of joy now, rather now there was even more joy than tear! After a little while longer, they separated from the hug, as Ash held his hand up. Reading the signal, Dawn gave him a high-five, something that never stopped between them since they first parted.
"Oh man..." Dawn wiped her eyes, taking a deep breath. "Well, yeah, that's it..."
Ash shook his head and crossed his arms with a smug smile. "So, who was it?"
Confused, Dawn tilted her head. "What do you mean?"
"It was Zoey, wasn't it?" Ash questioned further.
Dawn immediately became flustered, shocked at what Ash was saying. "Wait, how did you know?!"
But then she realized her mistake, as she basically admitted Ash was right on something he most likely asked on a whim. Ash and Brock were back to laughing, but Dawn couldn't be angry, as Ash was in fact right, something that she confirmed.
"Have you said anything to Zoey yet?" Brock asked.
Dawn laughed nervously, showing the two her phone wallpaper, which was a picture of Dawn and Zoey hugging tightly, huge smiles on both of their faces and the beautiful night sky in the background.
"No..." Ash muttered, before shaking Dawn by her shoulders. "Waaaaaaay!"
The two then began to laugh as they both fell to the ground, laughing hysterically. Brock just shook his head, a huge grin on his face. He loved these two dorks.
