If the son looks like the father, all is lost. They will be completely oblivious about their own crush and proceed to do silly things to get their attention.
It was seen in Wei Changze, actively contradicting and ignoring Cangse Sanren, getting on her nerves, all with a very serious face and very on purpose.
It was seen in Wei Wuxian, teasing and playing pranks on Lan Wangji, sticking him to his hip, very boisterously and very on purpose.
And now it's happening with A-Yuan, the cycle repeats.
With the same horrified expression that Wei Changze had when he saw his son carrying his friend on his back and running so fast that said friend clung onto him, he looks at his little baby who, with a sweet smile, points out all the plot holes in the story that Jingyi (his classmate) had been telling to a little girl (another classmate).
For the 5th time.
At first, Wei Wuxian let it slide, thinking it was just his son giving constructive criticism!
But then he noticed a pattern. A very embarrassingly familiar pattern.
A-Yuan only did it when Jingyi was talking to other kids, talking very close to them.
Never, not even once, did he do it when the story was directed at him. He just sat there and listened attentively as the boy narrated his adventure in the laundry room, getting so close that he even got some spit on himself.
But when it was directed at someone else, it was a different story.
It was basically a cry of 'pay attention to me .'
When A-Yuan turned 8, Wei Wuxian was absolutely sure that his son would never embarrass himself like that, he was too much like Lan Zhan to do that.
He was wrong.
The proud look on A-Yuan's face as he watched the girl slowly walk away from the scene, due to Jingyi's almost angry outbursts of contradiction, confirmed it.
And as a fitting son of his, he completely ignored him when he brought up the topic and denied any accusation of being in love. He also ignored his grandpa.
Yes, A-Yuan was very embarrassed when Jingyi confronted him about it. But luckily for him, Jingyi didn't have the ability to make fun of him.
Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said about his baba and grandma.
