Many people would say being athletic and academic was a contradiction.
Faraday begged to differ.
While it wasn't in everyone's skill set to be so, Faraday had non problem being a contributing member of her softball team and also a straight-A student who spent her spare time researching climate change and subatomic matter. Sure it was tough to balance both pursuits (softball practice had a habit of running late, making hard to keep up with homework, not to mention her research), but it was worth every second of it. In large part because Faraday loved both pursuits, but another bonus was having met Wren.
Faraday had been considering leaving the Alliance of Science (Carl had been getting much too pedantic to stand) when Wren came into their lives, rambling on about string theory and multiple dimension. They had taken some getting used to, but in a handful of weeks Faraday couldn't imagine life without Wren in it.
Their enthusiasm was infectious, even for the most mundane things. The thought of seeing Wren was what made Faraday stick with the Alliance of Science, even when softball took up every afternoon she had.
Wren even made a point to make it out to a couple of Faraday's softball games. It made Faraday unreasonably happy to see Wren cheering for her from the stands, even when they had admitted to knowing less than nothing about the sport. Faraday had tried explaining it, but they had inevitably just turned to different trajectory formulas.
Never the less, Faraday wouldn't have it any other way.
Well, maybe without Carl. He was still being a pain.
