Chapter Text

Foolish pov:

The waters of the reef were calm, which was why Foolish had chosen this spot to settle. Being the leader, he had to choose the perfect spot for his friends. The reef was ideal for hunting and for the many resources available. The small group had to find a safe place for the young merpeople they had found.

And speaking of young merpeople, where was Leo?

Foolish was sure she was at his side just a few seconds ago. The kelp forest was dense and Leo loved to hide in it. So he searched in the kelp for his daughter, whose warm-colored tail was usually easy to spot. Foolish searched every nook and cranny, but couldn't find her. He began to panic; Leo never went far from him. She had to be with the others, yes, it was the only possibility. The shark swam quickly towards the houses where his friends were. When he saw them, there was still no sign of his daughter.

"Foolish! Just in time, I needed to tell you something important." said Bad, his gaze then moving behind him "Where is Leo, Foolish!?"
"I don't know Bad! I don't know! I thought she was with you guys!"
"Foolish! How could you not watch your daughter! There is a boat over there!
" What? A boat! "

Foolish turned to see where Bad was pointing. And yes, a boat was a hundred yards away, anchored down. If Leo wasn't here, she must have been captured by the humans. Leo was in danger and he had to help. Foolish was angry and swam towards the boat, but a hand held him back. He turned furiously, to see the octopus holding him back.
"No Foolish! I know you're mad but we can't go right now and maybe she's not even on the boat," Fit said, trying to calm him down.
"But Leo is in danger!
"You have to calm down Foolish! I know you're mad but we can't risk exposing ourselves to humans. So come here, we're going home for now."

Fit took Foolish by the shoulders and guided him into his house, accompanied by the other mermaids. They sat down at a large table to discuss a plan and, above all, to calm the shark. Foolish finally listened to them and remained calm, for the moment. They were right, he couldn't risk anything, not even exposing himself to humans or to take the risk of his child being hurt.

***

After two days nothing had happened, he still had no news of his child and no progress. Foolish wanted his daughter now, it was time for action. He couldn't wait any longer, wait for his friends and their plan.

In the morning he silently left his house. He knew that at this early hour no one would be up and about to stop him. So he had free rein. Foolish swam quickly towards the boat. He circled his prey to assess it. He surfaced discreetly to look on the boat. He had to find the captain and attack him first. That was his only plan. Find the captain, he was usually the strongest, so his crew wouldn't try anything then he'd save Leo. And maybe no one would get killed if they cooperated with him.

Foolish rounded the back of the boat and saw what looked like the captain. He was alone in his corner near the edge of the deck. His long purple coat decorated with gold ornaments and his tricorne of the same color. Why was he near the edge, it was dangerous. Wait, why did he care about him, he didn't have to protect a human. He was his enemy. Besides, his position was perfect for attacking him, so he had to be quick before he moved.

The shark dived again to gain momentum. He surfaced at full speed and jumped onto the deck. He landed directly on the captain, pushing him to the ground a few feet away. Foolish was on top of him, putting all his weight on him and squeezing his arms. His claws ripped through his clothes and tore into his muscles. He heard the crew begin to panic, but their captain didn't move. He didn't even try to defend himself, just let it happen, accepting his treatment. Foolish could literally rip his arms off right now, and the human had no reaction.

Maybe the captain had no reaction, but his crew did. Foolish felt a sharp object pierce the end of his tail. Surely a harpoon had been planted by one of the humans. He'd been through worse, and this wasn't as bad as being separated from his child. He growled after all, but it was more out of annoyance than pain. His claws dug even deeper into the flesh as the weapon was withdrawn, probably to hit again.

“¡Para ya! ”
