Chapter Text
“Other than your ear and pinky, Sukuna didn’t hurt you too badly. No internal bleeding.” Shoko shifted the ultrasound device from Yuji’s chest to his abdomen. “Hmm, what is…this mass?”
Yuji gulped, his grip wrinkling the leather of the examination bed. The cold of Shoko’s office was getting more unbearable. He couldn’t bring himself to look at the monitor displaying his insides.
“Is this? I suppose it’s possible. Everything else seems...” Shoko mumbled to herself.
The more she talked the more anxious Yuji became, “What do you mean?”
“Did you and Megumi practice safe sex?” Shoko asked.
“Huh?” Yuji felt his face heat.
“I’ll take that as a no.”
Yuji looked at the gel sliding between his abdominal muscles as they tensed. “Is something wrong?”
“The baby is having a baby.” Shoko chuckled, writing on her clipboard full of papers.
“I’m not the youngest one here.”
“With Megumi gone you are.”
The bite marks on Yuji’s neck throbbed; rage tore through his sanity, like an internal seizure. “MY ALPHA ISN'T GONE!”
Ba-Bump. Ba-Bump.
Rapid heartbeats filled his ears, lodging the protests in his throat.
Shoko smiled at him, knowingly. The amplified sound coming from the monitor: Ba-Bump.
Turn it off. Yuji silently pleaded.
“Constant sickness, craving an alpha’s scent, and mood swings, are all signs of an abandoned omega,” Shoko removed the device from Yuji’s abdomen. “Or a pregnant omega.” She kept talking but none of it made sense.
“Now that Gojo sensei is here, he will fix everything!” That’s what Megumi always told Yuji; he trusted his words like it was the gospel.
“I’m glad you believe in Gojo. But he’s only human. Don’t make him into some kind of savior.” Shoko warned. “If you glorify him too much, you’ll feel betrayed when he fails you. Just like the higher-ups felt when he got sealed.”
Yuji jumped off the examination bed and put on a jacket.
“Wait, you didn’t let me wipe the gel off.”
“I’ll do it myself when I shower.”
“Okay, well let me get you a few documents…” Her voice trailed off as she stapled some papers together. “That’s Megumi’s jacket.” She must have noticed the slightly oversized sleeves.
“I found it.” Yuji lifted the jacket collar, still rich with Megumi’s sweet and comforting scent. “Gonna return it when my alpha comes back to me.” He exited the nurse’s office.
The door slammed in sync with a dinging notification from the Culling Game robot.
PLAYER YOROZU ELIMINATED BY SUKUNA
His ears crumbled with static and his mind reeled. Yorozu reincarnated in the body of Tsumiki. Did that mean…
“If Megumi wouldn’t have saved me, his big sister wouldn’t have died.” Dread encased him, destroying the static with newfound terror.
“What are you moping about?”
Turning the corner down the hallway was Hiromi Higuruma—the first person other than Megumi to tell Yuji, “ It’s not your fault. You didn’t commit that crime, Sukuna did. ”
“Kid.” Hiromi approached him, speaking softly but firmly. “Hey.” His hand waved in front of Yuji's face.
Yuji was aware of the man in front of him. His jaw refused to move, guilt locking it in place.
“Have you thought about what I told you, now that Sukuna possessed Megumi?” Hiromi asked.
Megumi…alpha, the mention snapped Yuji back into action. “Yeah, it made me wonder if Sukuna felt me and Megumi’s bond.” He scratched the mating mark on his neck. “Choso claims, curses can’t feel loneliness. But I don’t know if I believe that’s true, especially when they can cry.”
“When an alpha and omega mate, they share a bond in their souls.” Hiromi furrowed his brow as if in deep thought. “So it’s possible.”
“If he feels Megumi’s soul, I can track him.” Ambush him. Force him to free Megumi.
“You still haven’t recovered from the damage done to your body.”
“WHO CARES ABOUT ME?” Yuji wasn’t someone to shed tears over. His death was expected. Megumi had people who loved him and wanted him to live!
“Selflessness got you into this mess.” Hiromi turned his back on Yuji. “Don’t forget that, if not for your own sake, then for the little soul growing inside you.”
Moments when Hiromi ran away from their conversation, reminded Yuji that no one could replace Nanami. Nobody would comfort him like the child he was or validate his emotions.
Shoko whistled, he didn’t notice when she had slipped out of the office with his medical records in hand. “He has a point. Hopefully, you didn’t dip because you expect me to hide this.”
“Not really. Those notes you took were documentation for the higher-ups.” Yuji said, “I know everything gets reported to them so trying to hide anything is pointless.”
“Don’t sound so down.” Shoko playfully bonked the papers on Yuji's head. “The higher-ups have bigger concerns right now. You’ll be fine!”
Yuji grabbed the papers from on top of his head. A picture fell to the floor. He didn’t know, Shoko had taken pictures.
“You claimed, Megumi will come back for you.” Shoko picked up the black-and-white ultrasound picture. “We wouldn’t want him missing any important moments.”
“Thanks,” Yuji took it from her hand. The picture was of a blob no bigger than a kidney bean.
“Are you not eating?”
Yuji looked up to see Hana at his table. She had a hand on her hip and her lips in a slight frown. There were many empty seats in the cafeteria, he didn’t know why she stopped there.
“Don’t be so selfish.”
“What are you talking about?”
“If you’re not going to take care of Megumi’s baby, give it to me.” Hana said.
Yuji flashed his fangs and snarled.
Angel appeared on her cheek, “See, Hana! I told you he wouldn’t give it up so easily.”
Yuji didn’t know if he felt violated or pissed off. “Angel, don't you want to kill Sukuna? He’s the disgraced one.”
“Unfortunately, Hana doesn’t want me to touch Megumi. Love does stupid things to people, wouldn’t you agree?”
Yuji shyly covered the mating mark on his neck.
“I wanted to be close with Megumi! I owed him my life. Always smelling Megumi on you…I foolishly assumed it was because you always hung out together.” Hana’s expression seemed to cloud, tears filled her eyes.
“Don’t cry, Hana.” Angel comforted her. “Megumi left a piece of himself in Yuji. He’s not gone forever.”
“We’re not that different,” Yuji whispered at the sight of her tears. “Megumi saved me too.”
Hana sobbed, “You're the reason Megumi ended up like this, all because he fell in love with you. If it was me, I would have kept him safe!”
It was hard to separate the fact none of this started without him eating Sukuna’s finger. But if he wouldn’t have eaten the finger, he wouldn’t have met Megumi. In that scenario, would Megumi live happily ever after with his sister?
“You’re right, I filled a void. Anyone who was kind and caring like his big sister could have done that.”
“Big sister?” Hana sniffled.
“You know nothing about Megumi.” Yuji shook his head.
“I don’t care what you think,” Hana slid a bento lunch across the table. “Taking care of you and the little one is the best I can do for him now.”
Yuji’s stomach growled loudly at the smell.
“I'll make your lunch every day, I promise.” Hana sounded like she was talking directly to the baby. She nodded at Yuji, “Let me know when you start having pregnancy cravings.”
Yuji didn’t eat until she was out of sight. The food tasted delicious. Everything paired well with ginger, just the way, Megumi liked it. He devoured more and more, enjoying the flavor because it made him feel closer to his alpha.
“That doesn’t look like cafeteria food,” a familiar voice teased.
Hearing it made his heart leap, “Gojo Sensei!” Yuji cheered.
“Can you believe it? My first real meal and it’s this slop.”
Yuji laughed. “You could have eaten anything! It didn’t have to be here.”
“Aw, you don’t want me spending time with my students? Didn’t y’all miss me?”
Yes. More than anything.
“Hard to believe it’s only been two weeks. Everything seems so different.” Gojo opened a can of soda. Some of it fizzled over and spilled but he seemed too lost in thought to notice.
“Things will be better now. You’ll kill Sukuna and Kenjaku. Then, Megumi will be okay.”
Gojo smiled—not a comforting smile. “Give up on Megumi.”
Yuji froze, his mind running through a million different reasons for how screwed that sentence was: Megumi believed in Gojo sensei with his life. “How can you say that? You basically raised Megumi.”
“I killed my own omega.”
His sensei…a murder? Those vibrant blue eyes never seemed so void of emotion.
“If I have to, I’ll kill Megumi.”
“NO!” Yuji barked. Megumi told Yuji to save him! “I’ll save him! Even if everyone else wants to take the easy way out.”
“Easy?” Gojo crushed the can in his hand. “You think killing the ones you love is easy?”
Yuji couldn’t look at him. Not anymore. Not ever again. If Sukuna was still in his body, Gojo would probably have this conversation with Megumi or maybe they already had it and that’s why Megumi protected him.
“I heard from Shoko about your situation.”
Yuji huffed, caressing his stomach which bloated just an inch.
“Lucky you. Megumi gave you a gift to remember him. Geto didn’t give me anything.” Gojo’s voice and scent were painful, almost somber.
“If this is a gift it needs to be shared. I’ll start a scrapbook for Nobara! I’ll put in my ultrasound picture.”
“From now on, Yuta will accompany you at all times.”
“What? Do you not trust me!”
“It’s a direct order from the higher-ups. But I'd be lying if I said it didn’t require my approval.” Gojo forced Yuji to look at him. “We think alike sometimes. I know what your next move will be.”
Yuji clenched his jaw, glaring, because it was better than flinching. “Did you ever care about any of us?” Nobara was gone too and Gojo refused to mention her name. He was the only first year student Gojo had left.
“Consider the reason I’m restricting your movements is for the sake of my grandchild.” Gojo forced a chuckle, it came out strained and choked. It sounded hollow and empty. “Whatever makes it easier for you to comply.”
Megumi getting possessed by Sukuna was all his fault. If only Yuji wouldn’t have accepted being a cog to the jujutsu sorcerer higher-ups if only he fought harder.
Yuji swung his fist with all his might.
Choso extended his blood technique. “You’re not fast enough.”
Yuji held both his arms in an X position in front of his chest. Fast. If he was faster, he might have stopped Sukuna. He grunted from the bloody slashes. His feet skidded against the practice mat till his back slammed into the wall.
“Focus, you haven’t hit me once.”
Yuji fixed his stance, cursed energy surrounding his fists as he swung them.
Choso swiftly dodged, “Is something bothering you?”
No. Yes. No. No. Yuji tripped over a rope of blood. He swiped at the air, “Big brother!”
A strong embrace stopped him from collapsing. He knew this touch, once dangerous, now turned gentle and caring. He grew up an only child, but discovering a long-lost sibling wasn’t something he despised, it allowed him to understand what Tsumiki meant to Megumi.
“Eso and Kenchizu—”
Choso cut him off, “I told you that’s not your fault, that sick fuck tricked us.”
“What if they died because you saved someone else?”
The hatred that flickered on Choso’s expression was immeasurable. The tattoo on the bridge of his nose flared with blood floating around it. “Yuji. Explain. Now.”
“I’m…Baby.” Yuji winced.
Choso tilted his head like he didn’t understand.
“Having a baby.”
“Who did this to you?” Choso’s grip on him tightened, “Forced you?” His tone sounded almost angry.
Why? Unless… “Megumi,” Yuji choked out, feeling Choso squeeze his shoulder blade. “Not when Sukuna possessed him. It’s not like what happened with your…our other siblings…”
“So you want the baby?”
Yuji looked at Choso with wet eyes. Everyone acted like this baby was as close to Megumi as Yuji would ever have again.
“For yourself? You’re the one who has to take care of it.”
Yuji stiffly nodded.
“Then why do you sound like that?”
“Because—” Out of everyone who knew, Choso sounded the most concerned about the situation and Yuji had forgotten how kindness felt. “I’m scared.”
Choso’s firm grip turned into a gentle pat. “It’s okay to be scared.”
The pat reminded Yuji of a touch from Nanami like his ghost filled the room. He shuddered, struggling to accept the kind words that caressed his ears. “If I do one thing I’m selfless, if I do another thing I’m selfish! I don’t even know what I’m scared of!”
He wanted to die before; his existence with Sukuna only brought pain and suffering to the world. Now that they were separated he could never imagine that same fate with Megumi.
“That’s okay too. Even if you don’t know, your big brother is here for you. So when you figure out what it is, tell me.” Choso pointed to himself, “I don’t know much about babies, but I’ll learn. I’m going be a grand big brother.”
Yuji laughed through his worries. “That’s not what it’s called.”
“Am I going to be a double big brother?” Choso guessed again.
“Nope.” Yuji smiled, “You are going to be an uncle.”
Choso nodded as if he knew it all along. “I am going to be a good uncle.”
Yuji had no doubt that even without Megumi around, their baby would be born into love, surrounded by people who cared.
If love conquers all, then Yuji’s feelings for Megumi are his strength. He wasn’t powerful like Gojo, with no domain expansion or unique cursed techniques. All he had was his fists and one of them was missing a pinky.
“Are you searching for Sukuna?” Yuta strolled behind Yuji’s chair.
Yuji typed on the library computer. He didn’t know how he got here, the cafeteria seemed too big, training seemed more like a chore than a hobby, and everything felt different without Nobara and Megumi.
“Aren’t you scared? He will kill you this time, rip the fetus out of your stomach, and watch you bleed to death.” Yuta spun Yuji’s chair around to face him.
“Why do you care?”
“Because I was like you at one point.” Yuta leaned closer and whispered in Yuji’s ear. “In love.”
The smell of an alpha other than his own made his throat water and spasm.
“I cursed Rika. I don’t want you to do the same.” Yuta said. “Gojo sensei will take care of Megumi. Trust in that.”
“I can’t trust someone who said if it comes down to it, he’ll kill my alpha.” But at least Gojo sensei was honest. “The reason I visited the nurse was for a checkup after the fight with Sukuna. She discovered the baby. And now you’re back on my case.”
“Be careful with what you’re implying.”
Hana approached them. A low growl rumbled from her chest, “Stress isn’t good for the baby.”
“I was sharing some advice.” Yuta tensed as if surprised to hear such a sound from a beta.
Hana slid Yuji a bento box from across the table. “Yell if that asshole gets on your nerves.”
Their interactions were short and awkward, but her dedication to Megumi was impressive.
“Let me share something with you.” Yuji reached into his backpack and pulled out a scrapbook. The cover was nicely decorated with Nobara’s name, every page had a picture, date, and caption from the month and two weeks she was gone. He flipped to the last page filled with three ultrasound pictures.
“Megumi Jr.” Hana gasped, thumbing a photo.
Good. She was touching the picture. Yuji didn’t know how he felt about anyone touching his stomach. “Yeah it’s like Megumi. It protects me.” He studied Yuta’s reaction to the photo.
“Protects you?” Yuta scoffed, “Megumi isn’t the only one. Shoko’s report to higher-ups covered your poor explanation.”
“I told Shoko what I remembered.”
“You claimed Sukuna possessed your body by chanting a word and you blacked out. That’s not a valid reason!”
“You were supposed to execute me.” Yuji refused to let him forget. Megumi’s suffering was his fault too.
“Mistakes aren’t something the higher-ups are willing to accept! But an unpredictable factor is!” Yuta confessed, “Everything was blamed on your pregnancy.”
Yuji stared at him, too shocked to reply.
“That’s not fair, but responsibilities usually aren’t.” Hana closed the scrapbook. “Who’s Nobara?”
“My baby’s Godparent.” Yuji knew Nobara would be overjoyed and spoil the child rotten with cute outfits.
“I’d like to meet her someday to ensure she is worthy of helping raise Megumi’s child.” Hana requested, walking away.
“She’s an interesting one.” The tension left Yuta’s shoulders with a sigh.
“Do you know why she makes me lunches?” Yuji opened the box, hoping the delicious food smell would ease his churning stomach. “It’s because everything I cook gets burnt to shit or the recipe fucks up.”
He felt bile, hot and acrid, rising in his throat. He tried to steady his breathing, short breaths, long exhales.
“I can’t sleep at night. I can’t fight without imagining punching Sukuna in the face which pisses me off till I’m blinded by anger and can’t aim correctly.”
The rest of his words got caught with his breakfast. He opened his mouth, head turning to find a trash can—vomit spewed on Yuta’s shoes.
Yuji coughed and mewled, under Yuta’s horrified gaze. “I can’t function correctly without Megumi around.”
Megumi should be here with Yuji, rubbing his back after he vomits, talking to him in a soothing tone, and holding his hand.
The little one desired their father’s scent if it was anyone else… Yuji threw up again, bringing a shaky hand to wipe the corner of his mouth. “Go away.” He croaked.
“Let me help you to the nurse.” Yuta offered.
“YOU’RE NOT MY ALPHA! LEAVE ME ALONE!” Yuji shouted.
Everyone in the library turned in their direction. Yuta started to step away; Yuji glared at him. The sickness stirring in his stomach, his throbbing mating mark, the constant headaches…he was so, so tired.
“You asked me if I was scared.” Yuji lowered his voice, “I am scared of never being able to spend time with Megumi again.”
Megumi circulated within Yuji, changing him from within. Yuji felt it more and more through their mating bond—when Megumi was stressed, mad, or sad—because Sukuna trapped Megumi’s soul, Yuji was the only outlet.
A whiff of Megumi’s scent made his legs move. Yuji broke into a run, pushing through the crowded sidewalk. The groceries in the bag on his arm jostled.
“Where are you going?” Maki shouted over the noisy city streets.
“To my alpha!”
“This is why you wanted to leave campus, to hunt down Sukuna?” Maki chased Yuji. “Did you decide what you'll do when you corner him?”
Give Megumi a hug and a giant kiss on the cheek. “No.”
Sukuna dashed down an alleyway.
Yuji followed, only to find trash cans, rusted metal, weathered brick, and dripping AC units. All with different shadows.
Maki blocked his view. “I’m only here because you scared off Yuta. You won’t do the same to me, I’m your buddy, if I go back you go back too.”
Yuji pulled his hoodie collar to reveal his mating mark, “I have my buddy. But if I don’t catch him, he might hurt himself.”
"Kind of amazing, you don't think you hurt him enough already."
"I have. Falling for Megumi put him in danger," Yuji shoved past Maki. "But falling for Megumi was the best thing that ever happened to me." He dropped the grocery bag, leaping through a shadow where Megumi’s scent was the strongest.
Suddenly, he barrel-rolled across the dirty floor of an abandoned building. He pushed himself up, doing a front flip to his feet.
“Seriously?” Sukuna stood tall, arms crossed with a smug look on his Megumi’s face.
Yuji always felt safe around Megumi before, but it was like his alpha's face had completely changed. His eyes burned with a cold and inhuman thirst, his features too sharp and his voice too deep.
“The alpha you love is no more.” More curse than human, no matter how much he smelled like his alpha.
“Shut up.” Crap. Yuji meant to sound more assertive than that. “I want to talk with Megumi!”
“He doesn’t want to talk to anyone.”
“I’m not just anyone, I’m his family.”
Sukuna’s red eyes flickered blue, slits narrowing full of malice. Red. Blue. Red. “Megumi killed his last family member.”
“You killed Megumi’s big sister!” Yuji flashed the notification in Sukuna’s face.
Please read it Megumi. Please don’t accept the gospel from a demon.
Sukuna clasped his hands together, summoning a shadow animal. “Let me restate, Megumi’s technique killed her.” A distorted monstrous-looking shikigami loomed over him.
“Megumi would never hurt the people he cares about!”
“Fine.” Sukuna cracked his knuckles, “I’ll just have to show you.”
The shikigami sank into the shadows. Sukuna’s eyes rolled to the back of his head, the tattoos on his skin faded, and the extra set of eyes congealed into flesh.
“Alpha!” Yuji gasped in relief.
Megumi looked like a shadow came to life as tears streamed down his face.
“I knew you would come back to me!”
Megumi’s mouth moved, but Yuji couldn’t make out the words.
“Speak up a bit.” Yuji stepped closer.
“…Tsumiki…”
Yuji felt his bottom lip tremble.
“I’m sorry, Tsumiki.” Megumi’s voice was barely audible.
Yuji focused on every breath, scared he would forget the sound from his own fevered breathing. “I know your big sister was the reason you became a jujutsu sorcerer, that's how much she meant to you. So I know…” He leaned forward resting his forehead on Megumi’s shoulder, “No one can replace her.”
Megumi’s tears rolled down from his chin and wet Yuji’s hair. “Tsumiki.”
“I know.”
“Tsumiki…never got to meet you.”
Yuji jerked his head up, awestruck.
“Tsumiki never got to.” Megumi let out a blood-curdling howl and fell to his knees, hands covering his face as his will to live faded into despair. “My big sister is gone!” His eye escaped from the in-betweens of his fingers to show a pulsating pupil barely constraining rage.
Yuji flinched, covering his ears. Alpha was upset. What should he do? What could he do to fix this?
“FUCK! FUCK! I DON’T GIVE A FUCK!” Megumi bellowed till his throat sounded raw. “WHY SHOULD EVERYONE ELSE BE HAPPY WHEN SOMEONE AS NICE AS HER HAD TO DIE?”
A declaration filled with regret wasn’t something Yuji could accept. He couldn’t live knowing Megumi regretted saving him, that pain would be…
“I’LL KILL THEM ALL!”
“Don’t say that!” Yuji thundered, his mating mark pulsated. Was Megumi rejecting their bond? A helpless sound caught in his throat.
What would happen to their baby?
“…I’m sorry…” Megumi whimpered like a hurt puppy. “I’m sorry, Tsumiki.”
Chills ran up Yuji’s spine as Megumi clasped his hands in prayer and gazed up at him. There were no more tears to cry, his emotions were spiraling again, burning his heart.
“I’m not as kind as you.” Megumi’s voice cracked, “I have to punish them.”
“Punish Sukuna!” Yuji blurted. This was—“It’s all Sukuna’s fault! If you give into hatred, you’re doing what he wants. Angel can separate your souls. Gojo can kill Sukuna!” A hoarse whimper reached his lips, “Our dreams of being a family can still work the way we planned them.”
Their flaws, sins, and weaknesses. Yuji cared about what Megumi cared about, he wanted to love who Megumi loved.
“I'm sorry, I’m the only one here for you. But isn’t that better than no one being here at all?” Yuji spoke gently as if solving the puzzle of Megumi’s broken soul. “We’re connected as long as you carry feelings for me. They give a reason to live and accept mistakes!”
Megumi grasped Yuji’s hands, pulling him towards his body. Yuji pulled too, forcing Megumi to his feet. There was only one thing, he could think of that would calm his alpha.
His hand moved to yank the strands of Megumi’s hair, guiding him to his scent glands. They were sensitive, reacting to the slight touch of Megumi’s fangs and hot drool from his mouth—Megumi really did miss Yuji as much as he missed him.
“Please stay with me.” Yuji hugged Megumi. “Stay with me until you’re afraid of leaving me alone.”
Megumi groaned and salivated, “I wanna fuck you. Fuck you.” He inhaled, twitching, moving his nose—searching. “Most of the time, I wanna.”
Yuji loosened his grip, and Megumi circled him sniffing as if trying to uncover the source of his sudden craving.
“Here.” Megumi hugged him from behind, his arms around Yuji’s tummy. “My omega.”
“Yes, alpha?”
Megumi shoved Yuji away.
Dizziness washed over Yuji as the adrenaline bottomed out. He staggered, spinning to see tattoos struggling to manifest on Megumi’s skin.
“Idiot!” Megumi barked, “It’s dangerous to be in a curse-infested area. What are you doing here?”
“Saving you!”
“I told you I didn’t need help.” Frustration flickered in Megumi’s eyes, “I killed the man I once was.”
“I don’t care if you think you’re not the same anymore! I’m not the same either, soon I’ll be fat and gross…and…” His stomach tightened thinking about how terrifying it was, a soul growing inside him and his alpha was rejecting him, rejecting them. “All alone!”
“What?” Megumi spoke through grit teeth.
Yuji gulped wetly, “I’m pregnant.”
Megumi dropped his gaze to Yuji’s stomach, “Is it my baby?”
“I wouldn’t want to have anyone else’s.” Yuji cradled his abdomen with his palms and hiccupped.
Megumi fell on one knee, shakily lifting Yuji’s hoodie. Unnameable emotions flickered on his face as he gasped, pressing an ear against heated skin.
Yuji wondered if Megumi heard their baby’s heartbeat. He wanted Megumi around as their baby grew: to feel the first kick, rub Yuji’s feet when they got sore, listen to Yuji complain about the baby crushing his bladder, buy oversized jackets for Yuji to wear so that he and the baby wouldn’t catch a cold in the winter.
“Yuji, I will never abandon you and our baby.” Megumi kissed Yuji’s stomach. He fixed his hoodie like it was their little secret. “I promise, I’ll help take care of you both.”
“If it’s a girl, we’ll name her after your big sister.” Yuji smiled hopefully, but it started to waver, feeling Megumi’s nails elongated against his skin.
Megumi quickly released him, feet shuffling backward. He opened his mouth, his fangs sharpening as his cursed energy spiked.
“His soul is broken.” Sukuna’s voice returned. “I’ll be his strength from now on.” He smirked.
“That’s not true. Megumi is strong without you. You need him! You need his cursed techniques!” A hand grabbed him by the throat, “ERK!” Yuji struggled to breathe as Sukuna threatened to crush his windpipe.
“Honestly, I didn’t care if you lived or died.” Sukuna lifted Yuji off the ground. “But the bond between an alpha and omega is more of a risk than I assumed.”
Yuji kicked his legs, his knee met Sukuna’s gut. Once. Twice. He kept kicking with all his might.
“Before, I tossed you around like a rag doll and that still wasn’t enough to kill you or the little bastard. So I’ll have to ensure your death this time.” Sukuna dropped him. “Domain Expans—” Hands shot out from the shadows, restricting him. “Damn you, Megumi Fushiguro!”
Yuji focused all his cursed energy into his right fist, landing a killer punch on Sukuna’s face.
Sukuna went flying into the shadows. The darkness consumed him as one shadow hand gave a little wave goodbye.
“Wait for me.” Megumi’s voice whispered from the shadows, “Don't forget me. Even if I forget everyone else, I will be back for you.”
His voice echoed and swirled like a torrent. The only thing Megumi left for Yuji was the clump of cells growing in his stomach.
