Nicky saw the moment Joe went down. After killing the man who had shot Joe, Nicky kneeled next to Joe's body and started franticly to examine Joe.
Nicky trying to hide how scared he was: "I'm gonna be really angry at you if you break the promise you gave me. And I'll never forgive you if you do it, Yusuf."
Nicky ran his fingers over Joe's ribs. It made Joe laugh.
Joe laughing: “Stop it tickles.”
Nicky sighed deeply but suddenly realized something: “Idiot. Do you know how much you scared me?”
Nicky punched Joe on the shoulder before sitting down next to Joe.
Joe still laughing; “I’m truly sorry, Babe, but I couldn’t resist teasing you.”
Nicky shook his head resignedly: “Andromache is right. You’re completely hopeless.”
Joe beaming with love: “Hopeless maybe, but break the promise I gave to you, I will never do, and you know it.”
Joe got a hold of Nicky's bulletproof west and pulled him in for a kiss.
Nicky: "I know. I just wanted to remind you what would happen if you did break it.”
Nicky got up to assess the surroundings by looking around the corner.
Joe smirked: “Trust me, I do prefer to make you happier than angrier, even though an angrier you also have its merits. I do love having sex with you when you're a bit angry at me.”
Nicky shook his head once again resignedly: “Completely hopeless."
Nicky reloaded his snipper riffle.
Nicky: "Can you stand?"
The last question wasn't a request. It was an order. Nicky offered Joe a hand for help to get up.
Joe: "I could really use another moment or two. I haven’t felt this bad since that time in Hanoi.”
Joe could still feel how heavy his body was after the gunshot. It wasn't a small gun that had hit him. And Nicky knew it because Joe's stomach was still healing up.
Nicky: “All I’m asking is that you walk."
When Nicky heard footsteps approaching, he forced Joe up on his feet. Joe groaned in pain, but at least his entrails were back in place again. All that was left to heal up again was the skin and some muscles.
Nicky: "If you walk, I'll make sure that we get out of here. And then we find the softest bed in town for us. Deal?"
Joe: "Deal. And until we lie in the softest bed in town, I'll think of a way to make you a bit angry before sex."
Nicky shook his head once again resignedly: “Completely hopeless. Ready?"
Joe nodded and placed a hand on Nicky's shoulder while holding around his stomach with the other hand. Then Nicky started on his plan to get them out of there.
