Work Text:

In the woods near green hill, there was a small, cozy little cottage that housed a particular hedgehog named Amy Rose.

Said pink hedgehog was currently rummaging through the drawers in her bedroom, one hand occupied with holding a small mirror. The other hand was frantically swooping around inside one of the drawers, grasping after the item that it desired.

”Ah-ha!” Amy exclaimed, grabbing a hold of a large sheet of stickers and pulling it out of the dresser. ”Gotcha!” she said proudly, a wide smile on her face.

A soft ”beep” rang out from the living room, the sound belonging to a very special visitor that Amy was currently having over.

”Yeah, don’t worry! I found it!”

Amy hurried out of her bedroom, and made her way to the living room as fast as possible without accidentally tripping over anything.

She was holding a mirror after all. Amy doesn’t joke around when it comes to seven years of bad luck.

Moving with careful haste, Amy reached the comfy living room of her home within record time. The room was decorated with countless blankets and pillows, a compact, yet high-fidelity TV (courtesy of Tails), and the unbelievably soft couch, which was currently occupied by the visitor.

Sitting on the couch was none other than Metal Sonic, negating the opportunity to lean back into the couch, instead opting to sit stiffly upright.

”Sorry for the wait, but I found it!” Amy said, grinning as she held up the sheet of stickers. The sheet was mostly untouched, save for a few empty spots here and there that had been left whenever Amy was in urgent need for a sticker.

Metal slightly cocked his head to the side, dispensing a somewhat confused bleep.

”It’s my go-to sticker sheet! And you,” she pointed a finger at Metal with elation as she sat down on the couch. ”Are gonna get an AWESOME makeover!”

Metal’s LED eyes looked off to the side, unsure what to think.

Amy’s excitement faltered a little at the robot’s reaction, but she wasn’t gonna let up that easy.

”C’moon, please?” Amy begged, dragging out the word ”please” for an impressively long time. ”You’ll look so cute!”

Metal’s eyes flickered for a moment, a tiny mist of steam rising from him. He made a weak noise, sounding like an exasperated surrender mixed with an endeared sigh.

Amy squealed loudly in excitement, grabbing hold of the badnik’s cold metal claws. ”Thank you so much Metal! I promise you, you’ll look STELLAR!”

She moved closer to the robotic imitation of her friend, grabbing the sticker sheet from the table.

”Alright, now try and sit still. I gotta get this juuuust right…”

”…Aaaand… done!”

Amy leaned back, wiping some sweat from her forehead. She took a good look at metal and squealed in delight.

”You look absolutely GORGEOUS! Hold on—”

Amy moved to pick up the mirror from the living room table, and held it up in front of Metal Sonic’s face.

”Whaddya think?”

The robot’s sleek blue chassis that had been polished to perfection was now the host of stickerville.

Population: Metal Sonic.

Most of the stickers stuck to a specific theme, which Metal figured had to be related to the color pink in some way. Within the specified color palette, the stickers varied in contents. Flowers, butterflies, little desserts, candy, the whole smorgasboard. Some of the stickers were clearly showing their age, already chafing off, despite just having been placed. The sheet must’ve been at least a couple years old.

Total assessment?

Metal Sonic loved it.

He gave Amy, who had been nervously waiting for a reaction, a satisfied thumbs up. In response, the pink hedgehog cheered, feeling accomplished.

”I KNEW YOU’D LIKE IT!” She all but screamed, grabbing Metal by the shoulders. ”I SWEAR, I COULD JUST—”

She suddenly proceeded to lean forward and clumsily smushed her lips against the robot’s cold metal muzzle. When it came to Metal Sonic, this was basically the equivalent of initiating a kiss.

Amy, realizing what she was doing, jerked back and looked down at her knees, her face almost as red as her dress.

”Oh g-geez, I-I’m SO sorry, I should’ve asked first, I hope I d-didn’t— uh, didn’t make you uncomfortable—”

In the middle of her apology however, Amy was distracted by the sound of a fan growing louder and louder. She looked up, and saw that a concerning amount of steam was rising from the cobalt doppelganger. His red LED eyes were replaced with small swirls, giving him a look of dizziness.

”…Metal…? Everything alright…?”

Metal didn’t answer, still being somewhat shocked over the afternoon’s events.

”Oh crap.” Amy said to herself.

She ended up calling Tails over out of concern for Metal Sonic’s wellbeing. After a quick check-up, the 8-year old decided that the best fix for the robot’s problems was to prescribe Metal and Amy a medium dose of ”Sit down and talk about your feelings, like seriously guys, come on.”
