The daylight shines through the gaps of the Eiffel Tower's unique structure, lays on the love birds like a blanket, and conceals the precious moment. Alex is awakened by the uninvited sunshine and turns his head over to seal the first image on his mind: his lover, lying on his arm. Alex can't help but put a soft kiss on Henry's forehead.
"Good morning, baby."
Henry mumbled in the middle of his dream; without revealing the sky-blue eyes, he tilted his chin up, finding his boyfriend's lips as a habit.
"Orning…"
Alex chuckles, puts his left arm around Henry, and holds him tight. The holy feeling from last night still lingers in his mind, filling his veins with unimaginable pleasure. More than once, this has come to Alex's mind. Henry is genuinely, madly cute, to the point that Alex wants to tease him and nibble on his white, silky skin, leaving hickeys all over.
"Baby, it's bright and shiny, and I have a flight to catch."
Henry digs his face further into Alex's collarbone, and with every breath, taking the leftover Santal 33 on Alex, the lustful smell of his boyfriend's skin and flesh, the smell of sun, and the warmth of Alex makes Henry not want to wake up.
To put it out there, Henry has not shared a bed with anyone for a very long time. The fact that now, by his side on a comfy bed, there is another human who adores and cherishes him like a God, clearly fortifies the idea of not leaving this heavenlike nest any time soon.
"Just a moment… Please…”
How in the world could Alex possibly resist this soft, straight-out-of-a-dream voice. Even though this is the first time Henry's angelic voice pierces his ear, God knows how Henry has found the one-way road leading straight to Alex's heart.
After five minutes of somnolently kissing and cuddling each other, soft touches fall all over each other's skin, all that turns into a core memory the moment Alex's tiny alarm goes off.
"Such minimal sound. How could it possibly wake you up?"
He reaches out to turn off the alarm, then uses the same hand canoodle Henry's frowning eyebrows.
"I don't want to wake you up too early. I might have overworked you up a bit. But I have a damn early flight, God forbid, to hop on to."
"Very well then," Henry wiggles his head away from Alex's arm. "Go take a shower. As I recall correctly, your flight will depart in around 2 hours."
This is the first time Alex will ever admit this. Those fancy private aviation have only one advantage: to let the user play with time at their own convenience, with just an advance notice, and everything will be sorted accordingly. And he likes it, loves it, especially when Alex can legitimately steal a bit of time to be with Henry, just a few moments more.
In a split second in their shared mind, the love birds thought about accompanying each other to the bathroom. For the record, this is to prevent any unwanted slipping accident that could possibly happen in the shower, with no other intention whatsoever.
Impatient footsteps march down the hallway, echoing; time is slipping through their fingertips. Alex rushes in, takes a shower, and comes out, almost like carrying Henry to the bathroom.
The moment Henry got out of the shower, cocooning himself in a white bathrobe, the steam slightly lingered around his head. Probably, the hot water makes him blush, too. Alex was already well dressed and in the middle of packing his bag.
Taking steps toward and hugging Alex from behind, Henry leisurely enjoys that both of them now share the same scent. The light and refreshing perfume-scented shower gel can be found anywhere in any fancy hotel in France. For the first time, not in D.C. or London, they feel close to one another like now. Neither difference nor distance between them. Their hearts share the same beat, and their mind share the same thoughts. Just two ordinary men fell in love and being loved.
Alex turns around, places his hands on Henry's cheeks, spells a kiss on Henry's lips. Henry realises Alex loves expressing his thoughts through the motions of his lips. He kisses him any way he wants, any time he wants, he nibbles him as if chewing on his favourite snack (more like a whole damn meal). But honestly, he's notoriously good at it, spelling out things he wants to say without saying an actual word.
One step ahead, one step back, and now Alex is on top of Henry, on the bed where they've spent the night tasting each other's nectar. Not only Henry doesn't want to leave his beloved boyfriend's side, but Alex also never wants to vacate his lover's arms either.
Alex munches on Henry like eating a lollipop from the lips to the nose, the forehead, and ears. Like a child who never wants to let go of the candy in their hand, Alex very much shares the same urge to carry his sweet boyfriend with him, everywhere. Seeing the satisfied expression and hearing the low moans trembling under the thin skin of his neck, Alex knew he must get up immediately; otherwise, even Henry's bodyguards would rush in and sting him with electric pliers, he wouldn't be able to leave him either way.
Blowing a raspberry in Henry's neck works like a charm. Henry smacks Alex on the back until Henry himself frowns with annoyance.
"Go back to America!"
Alex laughs, and, without a trace, crawls out of the bed.
"Now you said."
When Alex carries the bag and walks almost to the door, he turns around, hoping to engrave the silhouette of his lover in his mind one more time. Hit Alex a few more times, and he still could not have imagined that waiting for him was a pair of watery doe eyes and Henry's arms reaching out to him.
“Come hug me, Sweetheart… I miss you already…”
Would it be too late to cancel the plane now?
Drop the bag on the floor, Alex comes running into Henry's arm. Wising that he could freeze time and space, right here, right now. Letting them live in a moment they have never felt more alive in their entire living time.
Soft foreheads touch, Alex whispers.
"We will meet again soon. I promise."
"Yeah," Henry lets out a long breath. "Soon, very soon."
Lying bewilderedly on the edge of the bed, Henry curls up, hugging last night's blanket, trying to retain his lover's scent a little longer.
Just a bit longer.
As the plane flies into the darkness of the vast Atlantic Ocean, Alex smiles, his mind filled with tiny little cutest things that belong to his beloved boyfriend. Honestly, if there was a choice, he wouldn't choose to leave.
Henry's sweet scent still lingers on Alex's nose. He cannot wait until he sees the person he loves most again.
