Chapter Text

Will comes home to find a red smiley on his far wall, but it doesn't deter him. He pulls out fresh meat from the freezer to cook supper for his dogs. While crouched low, someone sneaks around the island and attempts to tackle him - but Will rolls his leg back and traps the intruder in seconds. He sighs in relief as the would-be attacker pinned below him struggles uselessly.

"Nice try, Sis," he chuckles, releasing Bedelia from her hold. She huffs indignantly as she stands, smoothing her windblown hair. "You're getting faster, but your footwork still needs work," Will critiques.

He laughs at his sister before helping her to her feet. From the living room doorway, Patrick smiles proudly at his children.

"Dell means well. Her talents lie elsewhere." He turns to Will. "And speaking of talents, has our guest RSVP'd for Friday?"

Will smirks. "Hannibal wouldn't miss it. You know how he enjoys... fine company." His eyes gleam with wicked amusement.

Kimball enters, pressing a kiss to Patrick's cheek. "Dinner's ready, Dell. Looks like our little game went well."

Bedelia sniffs, but she follows him obediently. Inside, the kitchen bustles with activity. Bedelia expertly seasons steaks at the island while Kimball checks on a baking pie. Patrick sets the table with practiced efficiency, sharing easy laughter with his husband. Making his entrance, Will receives an affectionate hair ruffle from Patrick.

"Good catch earlier, son. You're growing sharper every day."

Will grins, swatting the offending hand away. From the stove, Kimball eyes him approvingly.

"Made quick work of your sister as always. Come, sit - dinner's nearly ready."

The family takes their seats and, despite not being religious, grace is said. Hearty conversation and the clink of silverware fill the dining room. Such normalcy belies the darkness lying just beneath, concealed from all but those bound by blood and vows.
