Chapter Text
Elena's POV:
“Pack.” Damon says, walking into the room and shoving a duffel bag into me.
“What?” I frown. Not understanding what’s gotten into him this time.
“We’re going out of town.” Damon states.
“What? Why?”
“Because I need to. And I can’t leave you here all alone, knowing that “trouble” is your second name.”
“I’m not gonna be alone here, you know. I have Bonnie and Caroline and Alaric, and others. And “trouble” is not my second name. Marie is.”
“Like they can stop you, if something gets into your head.”
“Oh, and you can?” Damon just raises an eyebrow at that. Knowing that he can. He has his methods, not that anyone approves of it, they still work, though.
I stay in silence, looking at him.
“Oh, come on, Elena. Don’t you wanna take a rest from everything that is going on right now? Time out.” Damon points with his hands, reminding me of that one time when we went to Georgia. It was a good trip. So I might as well consider it. And he’s right. Everything seems like too much. Troubles are still gonna be there when we’ll be back.
“Okay.” I say and Damon smiles.
“But no…” I point with my finger at his chest. “No funny business.”
“I wouldn’t dare.” Damon says, taking my reached finger in his hand and pressing it with his hand to his chest.
I shake my head at him, and go to start packing.
Half an hour later. Packed and all, we leave the boarding mansion.
“And where are we going?” I ask Damon, breaking the silence after 20 minutes on the road. I should’ve asked that question before I agreed to go on this trip, but well, anyway.
“Not too far.” Damon says, cryptically.
“Um… Okay. Could you please be more, clear?”
“Where’s the mystery in this?”
“I think I’ve had enough of mystery.” I say with a sigh. Although the mystery is not as bad as death. None of us speaks and we settle into a comfortable silence. Both of us lost in our thoughts for some time.
We spent some time like that. Damon drives the car, light music plays.
Some more time later I feel weird. Any girl will get this weird feeling. You don’t know if that’s period stuff or just something leaking out of your vagina. That’s so annoying.
“Elena, are you all right?” Damon asks, suddenly breaking the silence all of a sudden, he looks like he’s sniffing the air. His reaction saying all I need to know. Oh, no. No, no, no.
This can’t be happening. God, no!
“Um…Yeah… I’m good. All fine.” I answer, even though nothing is good. And I’m not good. Shit. I totally didn’t expect it. My period wasn’t supposed to be this early. I don’t really have a tight schedule, but I have an app that states the facts, and last time I checked it was supposed to be the next week.
“Elena, you know I’m a vampire, right? And, well I can sense it.” Damon says in a serious tone, looking at me. I don’t dare to look at him.
No way. There’s no way I ended up in situation like this. God, why can’t I just be a normal girl, with normal people surrounding me? Not some supernatural creatures, with super senses? Ugh.
“Hey, look at me for a moment, okay?” Damon’s voice is more soft and careful. His hand, takes my chin and turns me to his side, so I can look at him. But, I don’t know what to say. It’s just so… Uncomfortable and embarrassing.
“You didn’t expect it, did you?” He asks and I just nod in answer. “Okay.” That’s all he says. And he just keeps driving in silence.
The more time we spent in silence, Damon driving us to where he needs. The more and more I start to feel worse. I can totally feel that my underwear is going to be ruined. And I feel the slight pain in my lower stomach. Great. So much for the trip to clear my thoughts. Should’ve stayed in Mystic Falls.
I see, that Damon turns into a parking lot, near some local shop.
Not saying anything yet. Damon exits the car and goes to my door, opening it, he stops and stays there.
“I’ll be back, in five minutes, okay?” Damon says, looking at me.
“Mmhmm.” I mumble not knowing, whatever he has planned in his head. And it’s not like I can go and follow him without been seemed like my pants are having Halloween all of a sudden.
“Oh, and last question. Do you need tampons or pads? And what size?” He says, satisfied with himself, my face feels hot and I’m starting to blush, but I answer his question.
“Um…Just regular tampons would do.” I almost say it in question. Surprised with that Damon really will go in there and buy me tampons. I smile to myself when he’s already turned to me with his back and makes his way to the store.
The idea of the 172 year old vampire, in a black, leather jacket, with all his looks and charm, buying me tampons, makes me laugh out loud after some time thinking about it.
“What’s so funny?” I hear voice and it startles me.
“Ah!..” I quietly yelp, not expecting Damon to be here so soon. I didn’t even notice him.
“I didn’t notice you. Nothing, it’s just… A thought occurred me.” I answer his question, not saying why I was laughing.
“Hmm… Okay.” Damon says, and then clasps his hand and continues. “Anyway. We’ll stay at the house, near here. I know the owner. And then, tomorrow we’ll head to the matter of the trip.” He says as he pulls out of the parking and drives to the main road.
I don’t have it in me to argue with him right now. Plus, a stop wouldn’t hurt me right now. So I just stay silent for the rest of the journey.
