Work Text:

“Sorry! I can’t do it!” Exclaimed Aziraphale as he slapped the button on the lift with a tiny blue and green planet on it, marking the start of his descent back to Earth.

At the same time, mere streets away from his book shop, a demon shouted a single, much shorter and dirtier word, somehow meaning the exact thing as she furiously stepped on the brakes of her Bentley:

   “Shit!”

The lift went down just as fast as the car ran after a ridiculous U-turn, made miraculously not illegal. Their hearts raced faster than any of those two things.

“If you back down from this, you will be erased from the book of life!” The Metatron shouted, seething with wrath.

“Oh, we’ll find a way around that! We always do! That’s why I can’t leave him like this! Because we always have a reason to do so!” Replied the angel, fidgeting with his hands and feet as he moved closer towards the automatic doors.

Meanwhile, Crowley parallel parked aggressively where they had just left from, they could have chipped the paint on the Bentley by doing it, but miraculously, again, they did not.

“Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit.” They pondered, still inside the car, their fingers smoking as they tapped the wheel, synched to the beat of the most intense part of Bohemian Rhapsody. “ Shit !” They yelled a final time before almost kicking the driver’s side door open.

The doors of the lift opened just in time to see it happening. Aziraphale sprinted out of it, waving his hand politely at the Metatron before locking eyes with Crowley’s glasses, who yanked them off as the tears she’d been holding finally got the chance to run down her face.

They ran to each other at a speed none of the passersby thought two average people the age they assumed they had were still able to. Their arms sealed one another in a hug tight enough to contain over 6000 years of longing. And as they pulled away very lightly, a kiss, an actual kiss, began, saying words no mouth could ever utter in any of the thousands of languages they both spoke. Tears made their way between their lips and as they kissed, holy and infernal, of joy, fear and pain.

The angel tilted his head away, gasping for air, then pressed foreheads with his demon’s, as she looked at him with wide amber eyes.

“I am so sorry, dear.” He began, pale blue irises hidden behind puffy wet eyelids. “I am never, ever leaving you again. I should nev-”

“ I forgive you ” Crowley interrupted the apology, reenacting the tone of voice that had been used against her earlier as she started walking to the shop, dragging the angel with her as they were still tightly embraced.

“ Oh. And I’ve kissed you anyway,” Aziraphale gave them a soft peck on the lips before continuing. “but I’ll gladly do the dance.” The door of the book shop clicked closed behind them.

   “ Don’t bother.

Notes:

Hi! You just read my first fic, thanks! English is not my first language and I had never read or written any fanfiction before. The second thing means I’ll probably struggle with tagging here so… uh, be aware. I’d love to read comments on my writing!
