When Shiki escaped Impel Down, he started to plan. No, the giant animal idea sounded way too close to what he heard Kaido was doing and thinking about, it does sound dumb. What he needed a better plan and what would be a better way to think of a plan than to look at his dead rival's life. Roger had a wife... wait, could it be? Hah! That sly dog thought he'd be able to sneak his successor from him? Well, settling down sounds nice and having a heir of his own sounds like a good plan.
