Work Text:

'Meet me at our place after school.'

Wheatley re-read the note over and over again. The handwriting was fast and tiny, incomprehensible to anyone other than him and the writer. The way the words and letters were written were so unique that the Brit immediately knew who this was from. He immediately knew the place they were talking about.

He kept quiet for the rest of the day. Whe he did speak, it was small mumbles. Wheatley barely concentrated on the class because his mind kept circling back around to the note he was given. That note who could only have been written by one person and one person only.

The time until the end of the school day stretched further and further until Wheatley was suspecting some sort of sorcery. That is until the teacher clapped and snapped him out of his thoughts.

He packed his things away before anyone else. His legs were speedwalking down the hallway and along the far too familiar path. The vines, plants and whatever were all still in the places he recognised them in. They'd all remained there since his first trip to 'their place', even 3 years later.

Wheatley's heart began to speed up as he got ever so closer. He could see the 'their place' now. A towering, blossom tree atop a large hill. The roots were hefty, large enough to use as seats. The bark was healthy and rough. So, so familiar.

It took a few moments for Wheatley to notice the shadowed silhouette of the person standing next to it. The short, curly hair and a puffy coat that they wore could only belong to one person.

A smile spread across his face as he slowly made his way over. The figure standing there heard the cruching footsteps and turned to face Wheatley with unnatural golden eyes and a crimson dusted face. Spacey shuffled awkwardly in place as Wheatley strolled up.

"Is everything ok, mate? You look a bit.. awkward." He said, "unless something bad happened! At which, that's ok! You can uh, you can be awkward, that's fine. Don't always take what I say to heart."

Spacey grinned, listening to how Wheatley rambled. The blush on his cheeks grew while he waited, just gazing at him in adoration.

-"So yeah! Don't worry if something happened. I.. I was rambling a bit there. Sorry, mate." He apologised

Spacey giggled, wandering up to Wheatley. "Guess what?" He asked.

"What is it?" Wheatley questioned.

The grin on Spacey's face widened. "You have to guess!"

Wheatley's expression took on that of shock. "Really? I.. I do? Oh geez. Uhm. Just.. just give me a minute."

Spacey waited patiently as Wheatley tried to come up with ideas for what the hell is could be. A minute and a half later, the Brit sighed.

"Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Can't you just tell me? Please?" Wheatley inquired.

Spacey giggled again, leaning up to get at eye level with Wheatley. There wasn't even half a second wasted before he placed a quick yet tender kiss to Wheatley's lips. When he stepped back, he was presented with a flustered and rosey-coloured Wheatley. His mouth hung open in shock while Soacey started to giggle again.

"I love you." Spacey finally said. "Did you guess that?"

It took a few moments fir Wheatley to even realise that Spacey had spoken. When the Brit did finally speak, it was small, "I.. I didn't. I thought.. I thought you were going to say something about space.." His voice trailed off.

".. Did you like it?" He asked.

The Brit nodded, which prompted a 'yippee!' From Soacey and a hug. Wheatley chuckled, wrapping his arms around the smaller man. They both stood there in a comforting silence before Spacey spoke out.

"Do you want to hear about space then?" He asked with smirk.

"Do you think I would say no?"

Spacey made a happy noise, pulling away from the kiss and sitting on the root he normally chose. Wheatley wandered forward, almost collapsing on his own one. They both spend the next several hours talking about space, the universe, and whatever they could, both in each other's presence.
