Chapter Text
This was only Trait’s 2nd or 3rd time getting high.
Both times previously had been with Stoney as well, but they had gone a lot more smoothly than it was going currently.
Both times previously Trait had felt calm and tired. But now? Now he feels like sobbing or maybe screaming or maybe even skipping town on the next available bus.
Stoney is so oblivious to everything racing through his friend's mind right now.
He’s just staring at Trait right now.
Why is he just staring at Trait right now?
There he goes. Trait spontaneously begins to sob. Hell if he knew why he was sobbing. He’s still got his mask on and all. Yuck. It’s getting damp in there, but he’ll cope and seethe for now.
Stoney still hasn’t broken his gaze on his friend, but currently there is a more concerned expression slowly crossing his face.
Traits face is red and the mask is turned off now, leaving the mask empty. Soulless. Leaving his face bare.
Sure Stoney had seen Trait without his mask numerous times, but this time felt different for some reason?
He wasn’t too sure what that was about. Nor did he want to think about it too hard.
Traits’ sobs were broken up by a fairly poor attempt to speak, “Stoney, you’re not going to leave me right? We’ll be friends forever right? This won’t change?” He’s practically hiccupping over his words right now. Stoney has a look of pure gentleness as he slowly pulls his sunglasses to be on his head, rather than fully covering his expression.
“I don’t know what the fuck our future will be Trait. I sure as hell hope we’ll still be friends, unless this is your way of telling us that you’re done with me, than that’s pretty fucked up dude!” He’s looking Trait directly in the eyes now. No gas mask or sun glasses covering up their expressions. Trait is still a mess and Stoney is still high as shit, but they both have a soft look of adoration for each other.
“Thank you, Stoney. I don’t know why I feel like this. This fucking sucks. And no, I am not telling you off now, you still have a bit longer” He says while wiping his tears with the sleeve of his hi-vis jacket. He’s smiling a bit and he says the last line with the faint reminisce of a giggle or snort of sorts.
“Welp that's good, I’m so sleepy. Ooooh ahhh eepy and neeby dude. I’m off to bed. I’ll see you in the morning. Feel free to bug me or uhh whatever I guess?” He says while patting Traits shoulder and then pushing himself off the couch.
“Wait!” Stoney turns around slowly. Trait Looks panicked once more and is reaching out to his friend with all he has. “I.. um.. Sorry. No, it's fine. It’s stupid anyways.” Stoney looks completely unconvinced and is looking at him funny to attempt to elicit a response. “Ok fine. I don’t want you to leave me alone. I’m still not feeling great.”
“Dude I’m not sleeping on the couch if that’s what you’re asking. You know that wrecks my back. Never again I swear to god.” Now Stoney is just looking at him pretty blankly. Trait fidgets a bit more before continuing on, “I mean, like, can I sleep in your room? Just for tonight I swear. It’s fine if not. Totally joking I guess if you want me to. Yeah this is stupid. Goodnight.” He tries to draw himself in closer and make himself smaller to get some sense of security, but Stoney can see right past this.
“Yeah that’s fine.”
