Trotting with the Elephants

Summary:

a silly little rhyme

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

In a town where the sun always beams,
Lived Maddock, a man of dark schemes.
Elephants did appear,
With footsteps quite near,
Chasing Maddock in wild, thunderous streams!

With trumpets that shook the whole ground,
The elephants came, all around.
Maddock ran in despair,
With his heart full of care,
As the herd in pursuit did resound.

Through the streets and the marketplace wide,
Maddock's fear, he could not hide.
The elephants stomped,
As Maddock, he romped,
With elephants close by his side.

They chased him through fields and through parks,
As day turned to night with its dark.
But Maddock, so mean,
Could not escape the scene,
Of elephants' relentless embark.

To the river, they all did descend,
Where Maddock met a perilous end.
With a mighty trunk's pull,
He was under the hull,
As the elephants' wrath would not bend.

In the river, the elephants ceased,
Their pursuit of the man they displeased.
Maddock's fate was quite grim,
As the water closed in,
And his awful life came to a freeze.

So remember this tale, my dear friend,
Of Maddock, whose actions did offend.
Treat others with care,
Or beware and prepare,
For karma, in the end, will descend.
