Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

A rough pencil sketch of a daisy chain

A rough pencil sketch of a daisy chain crown

A clean line version of a daisy chain crown, which sports a pansy in the center

A fully colored daisy chain crown, the daisies are white, pink, orange, purple and yellow. A yellow pansy is the center flower

A woven daisy chain crown with daisies of pink, yellow, purple, orange, and white. A larger yellow pansy is in the middle.

Notes:

I really enjoyed sketching out the daisies! I learned how to weave a daisy chain so that I could draw it accurately, so that was a fun few hours, and the skill might even stick around. I was really nervous about coloring the flowers because I love the way my sketches look but can never get the full color to look right, but I really like how they turned out here! There are two colored versions here because I edited them differently and liked them both.

Chapter 2: Unicorns!

Summary:

From Chapter 3: Expansion

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

A girl feeds sugar cubes to a unicorn. They are in a grassy field near trees

A girl feeds sugar cubes to a unicorn. They are standing in a field with trees

Clean lineart of a girl feeding sugar cubes to a unicorn with trees in the background

A blonde girl in a pink shirt feeds sugar cubes to a white unicorn. They are in a grassy field near trees

Notes:

I love drawing horses but hands are the bane of my existence, so I'm very pleased with how well Pansy's hand turned out! (Her face leaves a bit to be desired as I moved further from the original sketch <_< oh well, she's still cute). I made two versions of the final watercolor, and the second one ended up being the one I liked the best. The trees have more detail and so does the grass in this version, which imo is way cooler. In the first version I accidentally gave Fainauriel bright blue eyes, which is just wrong and messes up ccstat's glorious plot.

Chapter 3: Pansy Discovers Tracey's Secret

Summary:

From Chapter 4: Transformation

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Line art of a girl holding a brown hedgehog in her hands. She is leaning against a rock wall

A blonde girl in a green shirt holds a brown hedgehog in her hands. She is leaning against a rock wall

Notes:

I looked through so many stock images of little kids holding kittens to find the perfect pose for Pansy here. I had a lot of fun making Tracey-the-hedgehog a grumpy spike ball, because so much attitude for such a little creature. Poor Pansy is so confused.

(You do not see my patch job cover up, it does not exist. Hair can be hard, okay?)

Chapter 4: snek snek snek snek (basilisk)

Summary:

From Chapter 5: Investigation

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

A sketch of a basilisk snake rearing to strike. It has large fangs and its body is long.

A basilisk is poised to strike. Its fangs are long and it has a draconic head with a sleek snake body

A fluffy, slightly feathery, pink snake is reared to attack, but it only has nubs for fangs. Its eyes are lavender flowers

Notes:

I based Basil here off a king cobra (for positioning the body) and a sculpture of the basilisk from the Chamber of Secrets movie (to get the detailing on the head). I did struggle with making the body look appropriately heavy, because the basilisk is a very big and chonky snek, so making it have believable weight was an important idea to convey to the audience. I prefer the sketch version because of the extra marks to make the body look like it exists in space. While coloring the fluffy and pink version, I kept whispering "feather boa constrictor" to myself, so that's where my head was.
