Detective Danny Williams has had enough of playing nice to Steve McGarrett. He lets his boss and partner, not to mention his best friend know he is not taking it anymore. Steve thinks Danny is just Danny. Likes to crack up and kid. But it seems that Danny was anything and everything BUT kidding.
Danny allows Steve to walk all over him like driving his own car, the Camaro just to drive Danny crazy, plus he is a control freak who loves to drive everybody else's car.
Not that nobody at 5-0 challenged him to back off due to being the boss.
Nobody seems to mind despite the fact Steve gets car sick or so Steve claims. Also the word no or boundaries don't mean a thing to him!
Sure he is a Navy SEAL and he is fearless and not afraid of anything. Even in the face over in possible death.
Danny recognizes the Lt Commander weakness is Steve doesn't like to be used to being challenged or told what to do.
Likes to give orders, not take them. Unless his on and off again girlfriend Catherine Rollins, now with the CIA is the only person that does so with Steve. And is seemingly allowed to do so with Steve.
But Danny felt enough was enough! He never gets any loyalty in return the loyalty he shows to Steve. He has gone beyond out of his way to not just allow Steve to drive his own Camaro as Danny is the only one who drives when he is alone and not with Steve.
Plus that he gave his part over in his liver to Steve when he nearly died over being nearly fatally shot while Steve was piloting and Danny was forced to pilot him, Steve, and the would be suspect on the small plane to safety.
It had to really bother him that in the end after donating part of his liver there. Everybody was by Steve's bedside with cards, letters, balloons, and no balloon, card, or letter for Danny after going out of his way to put the thugs who nearly killed his best friend, donating part of his liver, and nobody at his side in the hospital in the room he was sharing with Steve.
Well almost nobody as he had both Charlie and Grace, his two children near him. And that was all so important to him.
When everybody out left, Lou, Chin, Duke, Jerry, Kono, Grace, Charlie, among the others in the room, leaving to go to work or home or their respective places.
Steve once again due to his control freak ways, he grabbed the remote control by Danny's side as Danny wanted to watch a ballgame, but Steve watched a soap opera so he wouldn't get excited and lose it. Annoying Danny to little to no end.
However Danny always goes above and beyond. As that the difference is that Danny seems to be always grateful and always thankful.

In Danny's eyes, Steve had to always have his way no matter what. It seems in a way, Steve didn't seem to care about any other interests, even not Danny is immuned.
Danny knew deep down Steve was really good good guy. Steve is like an uncle to his two children. Allowing Danny to have at least one week off, once a year, to have his kids when his ex-wife Rachel was off to England to see her mother Amanda. Other than that, Danny works almost all the time and even on the weekends or used to. As having two children, as children will grow up.
Steve due to being a Navy SEAL and growing up in a home where being emotional and even sharing one tear is a sign of weakness. It is like "Get over it!"
Danny grew up in a loud Jersey family but also one that showed love and emotions.
Sure Steve did a lot for Danny like put him up in a hotel when he first moved to Hawaii, and showered gifts to Danny's children. And allowed Danny to move in his own home. When Danny's water wasn't running. All of which Danny was forever grateful and thankful.
But also what bothered Danny is that Steve always drove his car, used above the speed limit and Gitmo tactics on suspects, pay for their meals and gives the bill to Danny breaking his promises to pick up the tab and Danny ending up paying. Ordering the food in which Danny was giving the pick but Steve shot them all down. And ordered for him and Danny when they were on call or on stakeouts. Which frustrates Danny to no end.
Problem was Danny knew his boundaries and limits and Steve didn't seem to have boundaries or limits. Danny goes out of his way to please his boss but in return, it seems Steve doesn't seem to be grateful at all.
He finally had it one day!! Danny wanted to for once drive his own car, whether Steve was carsick or not. Steve tried to get Danny to move into the black Camaro in the passenger seat but for once Danny didn't budge. It was the end of in the workday and Rachel had the kids going to England to be with her mom Amanda. Danny and Steve were going to get a steak. Steve always "promises" he would pay and Danny could pick the place. But Steve commandeers Danny's car, his wanting to eat at other places that Danny doesn't wants to eat at, and goes back on his promise to allow Danny to pay for it despite being the boss and a higher salary.
"Move over Danny. You know driving is my thing. No matter what car, I always drive and I get carsick. Please I can also get you and me where we are at really quicker and we don't miss a date with a drink or going to a restaurant. Please you know driving is my thing. Please move over!" Steve getting frustrated as Danny usually would move and frequently it was becoming out of Danny's control. Without any other argument to not have tension and avoid any kind of confrontations. Steve being a Navy Seal would defeat Danny in a heartbeat any place and any time.
This day Danny just about have it..."No not today!!" Which stunned Steve as he wasn't used as Danny predicted in his mind, being challenged or told no.
"Danny this is ridiculous. You know I always drive. You give up without a fight. Without any tension. But you have been not yourself today. You have been sulking. You really haven't spoken to me all day. You always get upset when I insist I drive. You blast me for taking the Camaro instead of my truck. You know with your car, or our car for that matter, we can get there very fast. Plus it has better gas mileage. You know the state of Hawaii pays for your insurance since your car is also a police car. This is not time for a grudge as I am getting very hungry and so you have to be hungry too. Please let me drive and I will let you drive on the way back?!" Steve again pleaded.
That is where the blonde haired dimitive detective finally blows up at his best friend, surrogate brother, and boss. Climbing out of the car, with the keys in his hands, waving his finger in Steve's face like he did when they first met. When he had the Mustang at first before switching to the Camaro. Danny left no stone unturned with Steve as he has been wanting to rant and blast Steve for the life of both of them. Which really stunned the ex-military man.
"You know Steve! I know you hate to hear my rants. But really I have had enough! You have to drive my car all the time, not even asking me if I want to drive . You always keep saying that I can drive back to somewhere only for you to breaking your promise. You have to always drive. You say I can choose whatever place we eat. But every single time I choose a place, you always deny me and you say no to me. And you have to pick your place like ordering Indian food. Without asking for my opinion. The reason I don't say anything is to keep the peace or it would have started a fight over a tiny thing like where you want to eat. You say you would pay for the food or the gas or what have you. And I end up paying for it. Friends and partnerships are suppose to share like I will pay for the food and what have you and drive the car one day. Then you would do the same the next. Plus you have a higher salary than I do. But you always go back on those promises. You never give me a say. You may be the boss and my best friend. But at times, I have my limits and boundaries. Unlike you as a Navy Seal and a Lt Commander! Still when my old NJ partner Grace was alive and yes she did drive my car because I was a slow driver and careful. But we we weren't chasing criminals or having stakeouts, she let me drive my own car. But you have to hog my car no matter what. Grace and I were equals. Yes you may be the boss! You have control issues. You don't like people telling you no. And others like Lou, Chin, Kono, Junior, Tani, they lend you the car and they allow you to drive and do not put up a fight despite Lou's occasional complaint. But you do it to me all the time, even kick me out of the driver's seat so you can drive and don't consider my feelings. Why because I am shorter than you? Cause you feel you can manipulate and blackmail me and use kind of like a sad puppy face to let you have your way! Friends are suppose to share. They are suppose to be each other's equals. Guess they didn't teach you that at the Navy!? Huh?! Well not today! I nearly lost you and donated my part of an kidney over to you. A bone marrow to you and you never seemed to be grateful and never seemed to say thank you over it. If it were the other way around! I would forever be indebted to you and grateful until I take my very last breath on this earth. But no, you never seemed grateful! You never say thank you! I will always love you like a brother and you are my boss and my best friend. More like a brother to me than Matt ever was! But still you never seemed grateful at all. You are an awesome leader but you never are a team player. You never consider my feelings and that I have a lot to offer. But my opinions don't count. I am not just "Book Em Danno!" I am so much more. I am a father, a cop, a brother, a son. So much more. But you never take me into consideration. Well hopefully after this so called rant! That will change! I am a human being! And so are you! Don't forget that!!"
With that an angry Danny got into his Camaro in the driver's seat. Finally with the rant over, and leaving the usually stoic and cool and calm, collected McGarrett shaking his head, speechless.
Reluctantly he went into the passenger seat. Realizing that Danny did have feelings and opinions, plus reasons that Steve should never at all overlooked.
Then they went to the steak place...."Are you OK now so you can drive and not have to crash anywhere?!" Steve asked looking at Danny.
Danny didn't say anything and remained silent. For the rest of the ride over to the steakhouse.
For once the usually stoic Steve McGarrett....speechless!
