Work Text:
Nagi never bothered with baking, before.
He always felt like learning how to cook was too much of an hassle, he even considered only eating raw foods a couple times because, really, who would waste time in the kitchen when they could just eat a carrot?
Then he met Reo. Beautiful, cheerful, energetic Reo, with an irresistible smile. And suddenly he was doing stuff he would have never done by himself, starting with football of course. Or keeping his house clean. Or going to the fucking Blue Lock.
Those things didn’t feel like an hassle anymore. Because he was doing them for Reo. With Reo’s birthday approaching, he just felt he had to make something special. Buying Reo a gift would be useless, he could have anything.
The best thing that Nagi could give him, as a gift, was making him feel he was loved. So here he was, staring at the oven, waiting for this homemade vegan carrot cake – Reo’s favourite – to cook, even if it seemed like time had slowed down.
“Nagi, i’m home!” At the sound of Reo’s cheerful voice, Nagi’s head snapped back, and he immediately stood up from his chair. He ran to the door, basically jumping on his boyfriend before he even had the time to take his shoes off. “Happy Birthday, Reo!”
A small smile curled Nagi’s lips as a very surprised Reo lost his balance and they both fell to the ground. The white haired boy was now leaning over Reo, as time seemed to stand still, and their eyes locked in a mesmerizing gaze.
In that moment, the world around them faded away, leaving only the electricity of their connection. “Reo…” “Nagi…” They both moved so naturally, clashing their lips together, a kiss so eager and passionate, like every single one they shared.
Every time their lips touched, they just got lost in their very own world, and everything else didn’t matter. It was so much more than the physical satisfaction they got from each other. It was magic, it was poetry, it was everything they ever needed.
Nagi tangled his fingers in Reo’s silky hair as the other boy’s hands roamed over his body. God, he really wished this would never end. Reo’s kisses were the sweetest, most delicate touch he had ever experienced his entire life, something he wasn’t really used to.
He had never really been hugged with affection, let alone kissed like that, before Reo. Their first kiss was so nice it kind of hurt. That purple haired, sunny boy had rocked his world so hard he could never go back to what he was before.
He wanted to marry Reo. He had everything already planned. One day, he would give him the world cup that Reo wanted so bad. Then, he’d get down on his knees and propose. He knew Reo would never say no, he could feel his love in every touch, in every smile.
Reo’s hand stopped on Nagi’s chest and pushed him back. “Nagi…” he whispered on his lips. He felt the corners of his mouth curl with fondness. His name sounded so good on Reo’s lips. “Yes, love?”
“Something smells weird. Were you cooking?”
“Oh, no!” in a second Nagi was back up and storming into the kitchen. The cake! Damn, Reo’s lips were so delicious he completely forgot about the cake! He took it out of the oven as fast as he could, but the upper part looked a little too brown.
“Nagi… what happened, what is…” Reo stopped mid-sentence as he walked into the kitchen, unable to contain the wide smile that was spreading on his lips. “Is that a carrot cake? Were you baking a carrot cake for me?”
Nagi sighed. “Yeah… I know it’s Reo’s favourite. But… i think it’s burned. I’m sorry Reo… I wanted to make you something nice, but…” Reo walked closer and hugged him from behind. “It’s ok, treasure, i’m sure it’s just a little bit more crunchy, but it’ll taste delicious.”
“But i ruined it…” Reo turned him around to look into his eyes. “Are you kidding? You made this for me, it’s such a nice gesture, i will eat it all.” He kissed Nagi’s nose with a smile. “I’m so happy, Nagi, you made my heart beat so fast! Here!”
He took Nagi’s hand and put it on his chest. “Can you feel it?” Nagi blushed. “Reo’s heart…” “Yeah, it beats just for you… Nagi you have no idea… No one has ever done something so sweet for me, my treasure. I’m so happy you remembered…”
Whispered Reo, before kissing him again. Nagi could feel something wet on his face. Reo was crying, crying of happiness. Seeing his boyfriend so happy for his ugly, burnt cake, immediately made Nagi feel better. He did it. He made Reo feel loved.
He wanted to make him happy, the closest person he knew to perfection. Reo always saw the positive side of things, even in a loser like Nagi, even in his failed attempt at cooking, and the sparkle in his eyes had inspired Nagi so many times, had made him happy so many times.
His smile, the warmest he had ever seen, kept Nagi’s soul alive since the day they met, that fateful meeting on the stairs of their highschool. He was the best and Nagi felt so lucky to have him by his side. He would never stop trying to protect that smile.
Now, this amazing boy was kissing his lips so sweetly. And he was lost in Reo again, and nothing else mattered, because really, how could something be more important than Reo and his happiness. He felt pride in his chest.
“So, here’s what we’re gonna do.”
“Uh?” He looked at Reo’s smiling face.
“We need to wait for the cake to cool down before we eat it, so we can play for a while, what do say?” Nagi nodded. “Yeah… I like playing with Reo.” “Oh, but first of all…” Reo offered his hand like he was some sort of prince.
“Wanna dance with me, Nagi?”
“Dance? Oh. I don’t know how to…”
“Don’t you worry, my treasure, you will be fine. No one’s here to judge us, right? It’s only me and you.” Nagi felt the urge to smile again. Only Reo had this power to make him smile, for real. “I guess we can, then.”
He took Reo’s hand and the purple haired boy pulled him closer, starting to spin him around. Nagi just followed Reo, like he always did. He trusted Reo to always guide him. In the hart of their cozy kitchen, their lovely dance began.
Even though no music played, their love and their joy was a soundtrack good enough for both of them, as they shared that cute, intimate moment. They ended up twirling around the table and laughing, lost in each other’s eyes, and it was so fun.
Everything with Reo was so fun. Nagi pulled him closer and put his hands on Reo’s hips before kissing him again. “You dance wonderfully, Reo. I like it.” His cute, purple, love laughed. “Then we should do this more often. Would you like it?”
“Yes… i like everything i do with you.” He whispered, before leaning in for another kiss. Reo chuckled on his lips. “I like everything i do with you, too. Want to go to the livingroom? Play some games?” “Yeah. Carry me?” “Of course, my treasure.”
Reo carried him to the couch, on his back, while Nagi hummed contently. They sat there and started the console: both felt so relaxed, so happy, they made each other feel so safe. The rocky start of their relationship was now in the past, only love and loyalty left.
They had grown into an inseparable duo, and they both knew this was gonna be forever. It couldn’t be anything else. Because they were each other’s everything.
