Chapter 1: it was called 'the ship of dreams' and it was, it really was

Chapter Text

Anyone who was anyone was at this dock. You could smell the excitement in the air as everyone gathered around just to get a glimpse of the history that being born. It was the most beautiful and luxurious ship the world had ever known and was about to set sail. The Starfell, operated by Nebula&Co. The frenzy of excitement only grew when the precious few that would be boarding in first class arrived. It was an honour only gifted to the richest of the richest and the most beloved celebrities of the 20th century. The main topic of interest when it came to the public however, was the controversial Hell family, going alongside the straight-laced Heaven family. They had a feud that lasted longer than anyone could remember in recent memory. It had all stemmed from a financial dispute that had occurred when the Hell's decided cut all business ties with the Heaven's due to a creative difference and a mighty lawsuit that had left both families on the brink of filing for bankruptcy. Unknown to the public, there had been a secret meeting a few months prior to the announcement that both families would be on the cruise, that was held between Beelzebub Hell and Gabriel Heaven. They had agreed that the public knew to much of what was going on so both families would pretend to be friendly and be attending the trip to San Juan alongside one another and try to make the news stations believe they were somewhat on good terms with one another (when the reality was that they loathed each other now more than ever).
When the slick limousines of the respective families finally arrived at the dock, (15 in the signature red and black stripe pattern of the Hell's, and 15 in the beige and blue tartan of the Heaven's) there was an immediate rush of paparazzi running forward with flashing camera's and open notebooks fighting to grab the attention of at least one semi important member of each family. Only for the first person to step out to be the wealthiest landowner of the Hell's, Countess Lucifer. What followed made the frenzy of the whole event look like a lazy Sunday morning. There had been security at the event the whole time but this was the first time they would be genuinely stopping anyone from getting hurt. They were forced to make a human pathway for the Countess, who was then followed by the Duke's Beelzebub, Dagon, Ligur and Hastur as they all made there way to the entrance of the ship with their luggage being taken out by the bespectacled bellboy who looked very dumbfounded by the entire situation.
"Oi! You!" A member of the crowd called out to him. He looked around a moment before pointing to himself and saying
"Me?"
"Yes, you! Bellboy! What's your name?" Now he really was dumbfounded, why was anyone taking interest in him of all people?
"Newton, miss. Newton Pulsifer"
"Nice to meet you Newton, I'm Anathema Device, I work for the Psychic News". She stretched out her hand in greeting.
"Nice to me you too Miss Device." He smiled while shaking her hand. "But I'm afraid I can't tell you anything about the families, I don't anything about the situation other than they hated each other for a long time and now they're getting along, I'm sorry to disappoint." He said glumly.
"Oh no not at all! That's actually the reason I wanted to talk to you." This confused him even more. He wasn't entirely sure what to do. He knew all he was meant to do was unload the luggage and leave the rest to Tracy, so really he'd already done everything that was asked of him and could stay and chat with this reporter (who he was growing more and more fond of). Although, he knew that he'd get properly shouted at by Shadwell if he caught him slacking off. Whatever, it wasn't like he didn't get shouted at constantly by him for the littlest things already.
"Really?"
"I'm not an idiot, I knew you wouldn't know some top secret information about this already very public feud, I'm working on this article you see, it'll be about the staff on board and what it's like for them. I was wondering if you would be willing to do an interview after the Starfell arrives at San Juan? I'm from there you see so I'll be visiting family as well as working on this article." Newt had never been given an opportunity like this before. It was one thing to board this incredible ship, and now this reporter (who he is slowly developing a crush on) want's him to do an interview!
"Yes! I'd love to do an interview! Will I see you on the ship?"
"I'm afraid not, I'm going on a cheaper boat unfortunately. Being a reporter doesn't pay very well in this day and age it turns out" Newt couldn't but feel slightly disappointed.
"Ah... I see. Well, nice talking to you miss! I'm looking forward to that interview!"
"Wait before you go," She quickly scribbled something onto her notebook then ripped it out. "Here's my number, give a ring when you get to San Juan." Newt turned a bright red that matched the colour of his uniform. "Th-thank you miss."
"Call me Ana, everybody does."
"W-w-well th-thank you Ana."
"See you on the other side then." She smirked as she walked away from the crowd. She was beginning to find herself annoyingly attracted to this goofy looking bellboy
