“Fucking Deku!”, Kacchan yells and Izuku knows he's in trouble. He had tried to run away, but his legs were shorter than theirs, so they caught up easily, now he was cornered, Kacchan and his two friends in front of Izuku, a staircase behind him. Izuku thought about trying to run away again, but the staircase was so steep that Izuku was worried he'd fall. They were some ways from their school by some apartment buildings, Izuku never knew why there was a staircase there and not just a hill, but maybe he could ask his parents when his classmates (bullies) were done with playing (beating up) with Izuku.
“I knew you were stupid, but this is just next level”, Kacchan’s friend Tsubasa sneers, Kacchan and his other friend laughing. Izuku chuckles nervously, he just wanted to go home and spend time with his dad and papa.
“I don't have time for this shit, you seriously pissed me off by trying to run, you know? You'll fucking pay for that”, Kacchan sneers and shoves Izuku. That wasn't anything new, the boy liked to warm up by shoving Izuku before beating him up, but usually there weren't any stairs behind Izuku. The last thing Izuku sees is Kacchan’s wide red eyes, before he falls backwards. The ten year old is smart enough to protect his head and neck with his hands, but his spine, another important spot (like Izuku's dad had told him) took a few bad hits, taking his breath away.
Right at the end of his fall, Izuku's head hits the corner of a stair, despite his attempts to protect it. Izuku lands on his back by the end of the stairs and the last thing he sees before passing out is Kacchan and his friends running away.

Some time later Izuku wakes up slowly, the first thing he notices is a terrible pain on his head, like the world's worst headache. Then he notices he's really cold. It was the middle of the fall where days were still fairly warm, warm enough to not need a jacket, but nights got really cold. The sky was dark, the last rays of sunshine shining from behind the buildings. Based on that Izuku would assume it was around six, if he was right, school had ended three hours ago, meaning his parents were probably really worried.
His parents were both heroes and there was always a target on hero families back, no matter how hard they tried to keep Izuku out of the public, so Izuku had been told all about the importance of letting his parents know if he was going to be late and where he was, if he left his usual route. Izuku feels really bad for making his parents worry, so he reaches for his phone with shaky hands, only to see a cracked screen, he still tries to turn it on, but it wont light up. Izuku tries not to panic, panicking only makes things worse, instead he takes deep breaths and thinks logically, like his dad would.
He has a fairly good idea where he is, so he tries to get up to walk home, only to fall back down. Kami, he must've hit his head badly. He's so cold and he feels awful. It has to be below zero degrees, because Izuku can see his breath. Slowly the boy turns to his side, hugging his legs closer to his body. He really hopes someone will find him quickly.

Time passes and no one comes. Izuku is shivering violently and he cant feel his arms or legs, it's a relief, because they had hurt really badly for some time. He had closed his eyes, because they had started to hurt, but that just made him really scared, it was really dark and while he lived and went to school in a good area of the town, he knew bad people were everywhere. He flinched at every sound and opened his eyes to stare out, but when he saw nothing and his eyes started to hurt again, he closed them.
Izuku has no idea how much time has passed, when he suddenly starts feeling warmer and sleepy. He welcomes the feeling, maybe his brain was tricking him to make him feel better.
When the boy is just about to fall asleep, he hears panicked talking.
“Zuku, come on, don't fall asleep baby”, he distantly hears his papa’s panicked babbling.
“Yeah, come on kiddo, open those eyes okay?” he hears his dad ask, worry lacing his voice. Izuku lets out a whine, he was just about to fall asleep and the comfortable warmth he felt is quickly turning uncomfortably hot.
“I know, baby, but you can't sleep okay?” Izuku hears papa ask. He knew his parents wouldn't ask him to do something he doesn't want to do, unless it was important, so slowly he opens his eyes, trying to blink the blurriness away.
“There you go, good job kid”, his dad compliments and Izuku tries to smile. He liked making his parents proud.
“Okay kid, I'm going to pick you up and we're going to go home, does that sound good?” his dad asks and Izuku tries to reply, but his shaking lips and jaw won't let him, so instead he nods. Izuku feels himself get picked up and soon they're walking home.

Izuku had started to feel cold again at some point, so the warmth of their home almost makes Izuku cry. His dad is carrying him on his hip, rubbing circles on his back while his papa takes out the fluffiest blankets from the hall closet. Izuku is quickly set down on the couch by his dad and his papa quickly wraps him in two blankets.
“I'm going to go warm a heat pack, you should call Shuzenji”, dad suggests and papa quickly nods and pulls out his phone, using his other hand to rub circles on Izuku's hand. Izuku feels extra sleepy in the comfort of his home, but his parents said to stay up, so he's going to try his best to obey.
Soon his dad is back with two heat packs and he puts one under the blankets at Izuku's feet and another on his chest, between the blankets.
“How do you feel kiddo?” the man asks, while papa goes to talk to the other room. Izuku hums, thinking.
“Feel sleepy ‘nd hands ‘nd legs h’rt”, Izuku slurs out between his frozen lips. His dad nods and takes papa's place to rub his hands.
“You can sleep when Shuzenji-san comes, she will make sure you're okay”, his dad says and Izuku nods. He had met Shuzenji-san a few times, because hospitals won't take him because he's quirkless. Thankfully his parents are on good terms with Recovery Girl, so she takes care of him.
“She's on her way”, papa announces when he comes back to the living room, sitting by Izuku's legs to rub them.
“What happened kiddo?” his dad asks. Izuku doesn't know how to tell them without mentioning his friends. He didn't want his parents to worry, but he didn't want to lie either.
“Uhh- f'll down the st’rs, couldn’t g’t up”, Izuku mumbles out, it wasn't a lie.
“You fell or were pushed?” his dad asks, always the straightforward one. Izuku freezes.
“Baby we know what quirkless people go through and we noticed there was something going on, but we didn't want to push, but you almost died today”, papa says, tears in his eyes. Izuku's heart drops. He almost died. He feels tears catering in his eyes.
Some childish part of him still believed he and Kacchan were friends, but maybe this was a sign Izuku should let go. Kac- Bakugou almost killed him. Izuku remembers vividly him running away, just leaving Izuku there even if the initial fall was an accident. The boy could've even called someone to come and get Izuku, but he didn't. Bakugou left him to die.
“I’m s’ry”, Izuku apologizes, tears dripping.
“There's no need to be sorry, it's not okay, but we understand. Just try to be a little more open in the future okay?” dad says gently while wiping Izuku's tears away. Izuku nods and spreads his arms for a hug, soon he has both his dad and papa wrapped around him. Even if his body is still cold, the boy feels warm right there, protected by his parents.
