Chapter Text
Water Tasting has always been an activity I’ve enjoyed partaking in. While I’m uncertain if it would be considered a “hobby”, per say, it is a rather sophisticated pastime that one can certainly learn from. For example, certain waters may be purified a certain way based on the culture in which it originates. Interestingly enough, many cultural practices have water as a staple in their celebrations of heritage outside of Fontaine. The Grand Narukami Shrine, as a specific instance, creates their Holy Water by mixing purified salts in cleansed water and setting it out to be struck by lightning and immediately retrieved once the bowl has cooled. Water carries the memories of those objects which it has been in, be it an animal, tree, or anything else. Tasting the memories of those that have consumed the water of this world sounds refined, does it not?
Perhaps, at some point, the water that one has tasted had gone through an Archon, be it through their powers or tears. That one droplet of water that came from a God, now a speck in the ocean filled with the common folk. The memory of a God, mixed in with the memories of the ordinary people, all in perfect harmony. When it comes to water, everything is equal, like the scales on the Oratrice. Perhaps that is why water is the base of Fontaine, home to the God of Justice, as water represents what True Justice should be.
Hopefully, you will enjoy this journey with me as I explain in detail the differences between the waters of the world. I thank you for your time, and encourage any feedback, questions, and thoughts on the matter of water, in taste, history, and in itself.
Sincerely,
