Jisung feels victory coursing through his veins as he drives past the finish line in first place. He hears Minho groan dramatically next to him, turning his head just in time to see his hyung flop against the bed petulantly while screaming into a pillow.
"I cannot believe you fucking beat me again! " Minho cries. "Toad has never failed me like this before!"
Jisung pats him on the head like a cat, pouting fakely and saying, "There, there. I still love you even though you're a loser."
"Alright, let's fucking go. Rainbow Road time," Minho requests icily, cracking his knuckles. He's always been a sore loser.
"We are not playing Rainbow Road again. You just like to push me off the edge."
"Fine! Bowser's Castle, then! I'll just push you into the lava instead," Minho compromises.
Jisung ignores him. "How about this one?"
"Mushroom Gorge?"
"Yeah. Cause my dick doesn't have Mushroom when you're around since it's so enGorged ."
"I hate you so fucking much right now. Hearing that hurt worse than all of my losses combined."
"Well maybe you should be Baby Peach, since you're pitching a fit right now."
Minho glares at him, dropping his controller to the bed in a weirdly threatening manner. Seconds later, he's tackling Jisung to the floor, wrestling with him in a way that can only be described as homoerotic.
When Minho starts tickling , Jisung is done for; he's always been ridiculously ticklish. Minho has Jisung in stitches in no time at all, both of them fidgeting and squirming and trying to hit the other back harder. Jisung never had the upper hand to begin with, but at some point he really loses, because Minho has both of his hands pinned next to his head and is caging him in, their faces centimeters apart.
It feels like you could hear a pin drop – which you very much couldn't, considering the MarioKart music was still going strong in the background, but as Jisung gazes into Minho's eyes, nothing else exists. No other sounds, sights, tastes – not when Jisung surges forward and presses their lips together. Minho seems surprised at first, but he swiftly makes up for it, kissing Jisung back. They kiss softly, full of passion and tenderness, before Jisung finally realizes just what he is doing and pulls back suddenly.
His eyes are wide as the full weight of what he just did sinks in, his eyes locked in on Minho's.
"It's late, I should go," Jisung says without thinking.
"This is your apartment?" Minho replies with a laugh. Jisung feels embarrassed, but he's also too overwhelmed to really put much thought into his words.
"Oh. Yeah. I forgot." Jisung scrambles to think of how to proceed. "Then maybe you should go?" He doesn't want to sound like he's kicking Minho out, even though that is very much what he is doing.
"I thought I was going to spend the night?" Minho says, voice a little dejected.
Jisung scrambles for something, some reason to say he should go. "I just remembered I have a really early meeting tomorrow with my advisor, so I should probably not have any overnight guests."
"How about one more tournament, if I win, I stay the night. If you win, I'll go."
It's a tempting offer, and not just because Jisung has been winning unilaterally for the entire night.
Jisung agrees, firing up one more quick VS battle. Jisung chooses his classic choice, Baby Peach, and pimps out his adorable little car.
"I'm switching to King Boo this time. I always win with him," Minho declares.
They do four random courses, so as to be the most fair, but that doesn't matter. Jisung still comes in first in three out of the four races, with a stupid CPU passing him at the last second and knocking him to second for one of them. Regardless, he still beats Minho, who pouts and whines and drags his feet to try and get out of leaving.
"So much for King Boo always winning," Jisung says with a grin.
He gives Jisung one final hopeful look, but when Jisung remains neutral, Minho just nods sadly, gathering his things and walking towards the door. "Well, bye, I guess. I'll text you when I get back to mine."
The minute the door closes behind Minho, Jisung knocks his forehead against the wall and sighs. He had been doing so well, hiding his love so easily. So much for that!
Now he's ruined everything. And, honestly, it's kind of Minho's fault. Who the fuck tickles their best friend like that when they're both grown adult men? That's, like, a scene straight out of gay porn, probably.
The following morning, Jisung wakes up with a heavy weight of regret in his stomach. He had managed to force himself to forget about the friendship ruining move he had made last night so that he could get himself to fall asleep, but in the harsh light of the morning, he is forced to face his mistake.
He drags himself into the shower, going through the motions of getting clean, before he plops down on his couch and stares aimlessly at the wall. It goes without saying that he had lied to Minho, he didn't really have a meeting with his advisor this morning. In fact, he had absolutely nothing for the entire day.
He stews in regret until Chan surprisingly shows up at his door with lunch.
"Heard you weren't messaging Minho back. He was worried and sent me over."
It kind of hurts that Minho didn't come himself, but he figures it makes sense. The combination of Jisung's revealing kiss and his following icy response aren't exactly inviting. He wonders if he truly ruined things with Minho.
Luckily, Chan has always been good at distracting him, so he easily forgets all the horrors of his past 24 hours as he laughs along with his eldest hyung.
He's even sad when Chan says he has to go, pouting but letting him go. "Text him back," Chan says before he shuts the door behind himself, and Jisung knows he's right, so he finally opens his text thread with Minho.
He has nine unread messages from him.
minho (12:01 AM): home!!!!!!!!

Jisung watches the video, laughing at little animated cat dancing to some song.

jisung (1:50 PM): fucK!!!!!!!!!
Jisung debates his next move, and ultimately decides it better to face this head on than to let it fester.
jisung (2:01 PM): dinner tonight?? on me
minho (2:32 PM): can't
minho (2:32 PM): sry
Now he's confused, because Minho went from being playful and fun to cutting him off with curt answers, even rejecting an offer of free dinner.
Maybe he just doesn't want to see Jisung, would rather pretend they didn't kiss or whatever.
Walking to class Wednesday, Jisung is bombarded with a grumpy Minho joining him, walking instep.
"Sup, loser?" Jisung asks, and Minho just grunts.
They walk in silence; it's kind of really weird. It's even weirder when Minho reaches down intertwines their fingers so that they're now holding hands. Sure, they do that sometimes, but Jisung is so fucking confused. He can't tell if he freaked Minho out with that kiss or not, because he goes from getting the cold shoulder to holding his hand within a three minute span.
When they get to Jisung's class building, Minho kisses him on the cheek and grumbles, "Bye." Jisung can only stare in confusion as Minho drudges off.
Jisung manages to dodge seeing Minho in person at length until Thursday night. While he had originally been planning on dealing with this early on and not letting it fester, Minho's bizarre hot and cold behavior has freaked him out and made him decide to avoid the problem as long as possible.
Unfortunately, they have a standing game night with all their friends, and despite Jisung's attempts to get out of it, Felix forces him to attend.
It's like rubbing salt in the wound when he gets there and Changbin is putting MarioKart on his and Chan's television. He makes his best effort to redirect the evening. "Wait, but all eight of us can't play this at the same time."
Changbin shrugs. "So we'll switch off."
Jisung is piling his plate with snacks when Minho sneaks up behind him, kissing him on the cheek and saying, "If you beat me tonight, I'm never talking to you again."
"Then this is probably the last time we'll ever speak," Jisung replies cooly. His heart feels like it's riding on a pogo stick.
Things are surprisingly better than he thought. Minho isn't all that weird, just a little moody. But that's normal Minho, really, so Jisung has nothing to complain about.
However, after Jisung beats Minho for the first time of the night, he starts getting the cold shoulder. They had been goofing off like usual, but then suddenly Minho is grumpy and not responding to Jisung at all. Maybe losing reminded him of the kiss the other day and now he's pissed off at Jisung again.
They're playing the courses on random mode, so when Mushroom Gorge pops up, Jisung jumps at the opportunity to say, "There's not Mushroom for my dick when you're around because it's so enGorged ."
He gets a few groans and eye rolls, but Minho snaps, "Don't laugh at that, he's a joke repeater. He said that Monday night when we were playing."
Jeongin gasps, sounding scandalized when he asks, "You guys played this without us?"
"Yeah, but don't worry, Minho lost the whole time." Jisung puts his arms behind his head and leans back, the image of cool and relaxed. In his mind, he is very much not cool and relaxed.
"Maybe it's like the whole bowling thing, where you can either be good at bowling or giving head. You can either be good at MarioKart or fucking hard. Meaning I'm good at fucking hard, and you're good at MarioKart. That makes me seem like the winner here," Minho says. His tone is weirdly harsh, and everyone shifts uncomfortably.
"Okay! Let's play!" Chan redirects.
"Why? I was enjoying the weird tension," Seungmin says, but Changbin shoves him over and proceeds to start the next level.
The night continues on, and while it mostly gets back to the normal vibe, there's always a slight air of weird tension. It's midnight when Jisung yawns, prompting Minho to say, "It's late, we should get going."
Jisung points at himself in confusion, as if to say We? But Minho simply nods in response, gathering his phone and keys and pulling himself up from the floor.
"Oh. Okay. Yeah."
Jisung follows Minho out to his car, letting him drive the both of them to Jisung's place. Minho walks him to his apartment door, always the gentleman, and as they're saying goodbye, he leans in and plants a gentle kiss on Jisung's lips, throwing Jisung for a complete loop.
"Okay, what the fuck?" Jisung blurts. Minho just looks at him in confusion, so Jisung ushers him inside so they can have this discussion in private.
"I am so confused. All week you've been so fucking weird with me, and I thought it was because you were just upset I kissed you on Monday night, which I'm sorry for, by the way, but anyways. I thought you were trying to ignore that or subtly reject me or something, and that's why you were being kind of weird and distant, but you've been like, weirdly domestic at the same time, and I'm just lost. What is going on?"
Minho looks more confused than he did at the beginning. "Why would I be upset that you kissed me? I was just pissed you won. You know I'm a sore loser, and I especially don't like losing to my boyfriend."
"Who is your boyfriend?" Jisung asks, a knife stabbing its way through his heart as he spits the words out.
"Okay, now I'm confused, because it's you?"
"Since when have I been your boyfriend?!" Jisung asks, alarmed but not entirely upset with the direction this is heading.
"For almost a month? We were playing Mario Party a few weeks ago and I said if I won you would have to be my boyfriend, and then I won," Minho says simply.
"You were serious about that?"
"Obviously? When have I ever been slick about the fact that I want to lock you down," Minho says, almost sounding shy now. Jisung's heart warms.
"Hold on. So we have been dating for three weeks without me even knowing?"
"Well, I thought you knew, but yeah, I guess. Sorry. We don't have to date if you don't want, I just assumed–"
"I would like us to date. I would like that very much," Jisung interrupts, and Minho lets out a sigh of relief. "Oh, thank god. I don't know how I would survive if this conversation went in that direction."
"Wait, so I've been anxious as fuck all week, thinking I ruined everything by kissing you, and the entire time you were just pissed you lost and the kiss wasn't even on your radar?"
"I mean, it was definitely on my radar, but as a highlight of the night. Which, by the way, this night needs a highlight, too." Minho walks forward and kisses Jisung again, this time with a little more passion. Jisung tilts his head back and lets Minho in, sinking into the feeling of kissing his boyfriend .
"Did anyone else know we were dating before me?"
"Yeah. Chan. Also Hyunjin, but he might have forgotten. I think Seungmin probably figured it out. Felix definitely has his suspicions, but I didn't tell him since he's your best friend and I figured you would want to tell him."
"I am so fucking confused about this entire situation. Just to be honest, hyung."
"Eh, who cares. All that matters is you are my boyfriend and also I can beat you at some games." Minho pauses, then adds with a smirk. "By the way, strip MarioKart tomorrow?"
"If you want to get naked there are easier ways than by losing to me multiple times in a row."
