Work Text:

“Do they think we don't notice them?" Ryujin questions among her, Lia and Yeji as the three look over at their two other friends.

“Leave them be, Ryujin-ah." Lia shoves her arm lightly, and can't help but smile at how completely oblivious Yuna and Chaeryeong were being to each other feelings.

The youngest of the three scoffs, "Seriously? I cannot be the only one bothered by this."

Yeji now turns to face Ryujin, "It’s  young love; there's nothing more beautiful than that."

“I think I threw up in my mouth a little hearing you say that."

Lia and Yeji share a knowing look, silently exchanging words with one another, (they suppose being friends for so long has caused them to understand what the other was thinking.)

Lia is the one who breaks eye contact first, snickering to herself. "I think you're just a little salty because Sooyoung rejected you."

"I am not!"

Yeji is about to butt in, wanting to tease Ryujin too, but the sound of Chaeryeongs’ voice calling them over interrupts her. Ryujin is the first to walk away, for obvious reasons, and Yeji and Lia follow suit.

”I swear every time we get together like this you three manage to argue about something, and that something always ends up being completely unimportant." Yuna says as they all settle around together in the lounge of Chaeryeong's home.

“Its an unnie thing, Yuna." Chaeryeong teases, "You wouldn't understand."

Said girl looks offended, crossing her arms over her chest and turns her head away from the elder. Chaeryeong grins, biting down on her lip to stop herself from smiling even more.

“Right! Well, lets get this movie night started."

Lia’s voice fades away in Chaeryeong's mind, because suddenly, her only focus is on the thumping of her heart as Yuna lays on her shoulder, snuggling into the girls warmth.

They’re three movies in when Yuna suggests hot coco be made, and it's because of her that Chaeryeong is in the kitchen. She waits for the kettle to finish boiling, five cups already lined up with the coco powder in them.

The sound of the kettle switch flicking lets her know that it’s finished boiling. She grabs the handle, careful as to not burn herself when carrying it over to the kitchen island and begins pouring the water expertly into each cup.

It’s only when she reaches the last cup does she spill ever so slightly, because of the voice that startles her.

“Need any help?"

Chaeryeong gasps softly, little specks of water flying onto her hand from pouring the water too quickly. She sets the kettle down as fast as she can, that she doesn't notice Yuna’s rapid movements towards her.

"Oh— oh gosh! I’m sorry." She says hurriedly, guilt evident in her voice.

Chaeryeong shakes her head, "It’s alright. I’m okay, nothing too severe.” However, Yuna doesn't seem convinced as she pulls the girl lightly, and lets water from the tap slowly run onto her hand.

"Does it hurt?"

Chaeryeong looks up at Yuna, their eyes leveling together. She see's the blonde haired girl with eyebrows knitted together, and concern deep within her gaze. A pink hue litters across Chaeryeong's cheeks, feeling warmth in them.

“Y—Yeah, I mean no. No, it doesn't." She stutters, the close proximity and Yuna’s hand holding onto hers getting to her. "I’m okay, Yuna. Promise."

Yuna nods, pursing her lips together, and so Chaeryeong lets her hand rest under the running water for a few more seconds to give the younger some peace of mind.

“Here,” Chaeryeong gives Yuna a teaspoon from the kitchen drawer, “Stir in the hot cocoa and add in some sugar.”

Yuna does as told, silence enveloping the two, but neither seem bothered by it. They let themselves bask in it, enjoying how simplistic this moment between them is.

Yuna has always liked how easy and mundane things were with Chaeryeong; whether it be cooking food together, or studying, or going on walks, or making hot cocoa together.

To her, Chearyeong feels like home.

It’s way past midnight, with three out of the five passed out completely. Chaeryeong rustles around, trying to find a comfortable position to fall asleep in, but to her dismay, she can't.

She huffs, settling on her back, arms folded over the duvet. Her eyes drift over each of her sleeping friends, feeling extremely jealous at their abilities to fall into slumber so easily.

Before her eyes settle on Yuna, the youngest has already called out to her, whispering as to not make noise.

“Can’t sleep either, Chaer?"

“Nope,” Chaeryeong whispers back, finally looking at Yuna. She can only make out the figure of her, the room being extremely dark to see anything.

Yuna doesn't say anything back, only tosses around for a bit. Chaeryeong bites on her lower lip, deciding if she should just stay silent and let her and Yuna try to lull themselves to sleep. Before she can make up her mind, she's up on her feet, carefully stepping around towards the kitchen.

When Chaeryeong returns to the lounge, Yuna notices a flashlight in her hands and a few glow in the dark sticks. She frowns, but Chaeryeong only smiles warmly and nods her head for the girl to follow her.

Yuna soon finds herself at the rooftop of the house, Chearyeong has her hand extended out to help the younger up. They settle down together on the roof panes, glow sticks in hand and the torch facing up towards the sky.

“It’s so peaceful out here." Yuna voices, feeling in awe at the bright street lights and moon shining above them and the fresh night air.

”Yeah," Chaeryeong sighs, "I sometimes come out here when I need to think."

Yuna chuckles, and pokes Chaeryeong's arm teasingly. "Oh, so this is your special spot?"

Chaeryeong blushes, shrugs her shoulders nonchalantly as if her heart isn't running a hundred miles per minute in this exact moment. She licks her lips, cautiously speaking. "Well, I guess you could say that."

“Aren’t special spots suppose to be meaningful? Like, you can't share them with anyone else." Yuna questions, humming to herself as she awaits the others reply.

A small breeze flies by, swiping Yuna’s hair over her face. Chaeryeong reaches out, brushing the hair away and tucks behind the youngest’s ear. "Yeah, but, you mean a lot me."

The blonde can't help but blush, letting the tingles she feels in her skin litter over her body, burning as if Chaeryeong’s touch was fire.

Yuna takes her hand, softly, cautiously, and Chaeryeong feels she now understands why the poets wrote of love.

She looks down, smiles at their hands that are now intertwined, and presses a soft kiss against Yuna's forehead. Chaeryeong let's her lips linger, leaning back to see Yuna’s eyes have shut closed.

She supposes this —her and Yuna— is what it feels like to be in love.
