Blake grew tired from a combination of stress and comfort as she sank into the surprisingly comfortable economy-class seats of the plane. A scent of oranges and the sea came despite none of those smells being in the general area. A familiar scent she never got to reminisce in due to unfortunate circumstances that followed soon after those smells familiarized themselves with her nostrils. She remembered beautiful golden locks flowing in the salty air as they ran down the shore. She then fell deep into slumber as she sank further into the plastic cushions of the seats. She heard a bubbly laugh and giggle as a voice called out to her, "Hey cat-eared girl!"
Blake swung her head around to see a golden-haired girl running toward her, not caring about the sand in her hair or her chipped tooth. As she caught up to Blake, who made no attempt to run but rather froze due to surprise, she promptly face-planted into the sandy shore. "Ouch, That had to hurt are you okay... what's your name?", "Hmm? Oh, I'm Yang, what's your name? Your kitty ears are really cute." Blake jumped with the incredibly open comment about her ears, People weren't kind to the faunus, even the faunus children received harsh treatment from kids only two years older than her. "I-I'm Blake, It's nice to meet you.."
She didn't see Yang the rest of the day which made her sad and she couldn't figure out why. Her mother Kali suspected her parents steered her away from Blake due to her being a faunus. "Hey now, I'm sure she just had something to do and couldn't stay long, you'll see her again this week I'm sure." That last comment did everything but improve Blake's mood as it reminded her that they were only in patch for the rest of the week, it was already Wednesday.
Blake went to sleep that night knowing that she may never see Yang again, however things like that she had to become accustomed to, she never saw Ilia again due to humans running her out of town, despite her parents' best efforts to convince their family to move to Menagerie, She became used to making and losing friends but she found herself thinking about Yang way more despite only hearing her say two phrases. She was too young to understand at the time but she found herself to be enamored with Yang and couldn't understand why,
The next day a woman wearing black & red with a white cloak appeared at their door, asking to see Blake. When Blake showed up at the door behind Ghira's leg and peered out from behind it she caught a glimpse of those golden strands of hair falling through the wind, and she immediately stepped out from behind Ghira, excitedly wishing to see Yang. The woman, whose name was revealed to be Summer, had an incredibly tired expression on her face, could Yang really be that much of a hassle at home?
Ghira and Kali talked alone with Summer in the living room while Blake and Yang were designated to Blake's room while the adults talked. "Hey, Black?", Blake's head swiveled around a near 180 degrees once Yang spoke, "Are you talking to me?" "Mhm." "My name's Blake, not Black." Yang began to turn red with embarrassment but she managed to fight it off. "Oh, Blake do you want to see something my dad made?" "Sure, what type of things does he make?" "Well, he carves things out of wood, carpentry, or something like that." Blake had only now realized that Yang carried a deep red backpack with her, and out of it she pulled a single gauntlet. "It has something wrote on it but I don't know how to say it." Blake peered over at the gauntlet and saw clearly, Blaze Estris
