Work Text:
Humans and their complex forms of communication were impossible for Garrus to decipher. Their tone didn’t match their context-dependent words; their body language offered a third interpretation. Supposedly straightforward facial expressions were marred by micro-expressions. Throw in the highly skilled liars that criminals often were, and he was drained by midday.
He found one exception to the rule: Shepard. From their first chance encounter, “I overheard your conversation. Want to yell at the Council with me?” she was completely free of sub-text. Talking to her was like a cool drink of water amidst the sewage-contaminated methods used by the others.
