Work Text:
The earthquake had been unexpected. Girad and his forces, along with Anaria and hers, had been stationed at this island for weeks and not once had anyone felt a tremble.
But he supposed that didn’t matter now. The ground had begun to tremble, then it went into all-out shaking and convulsions. Girad had tried his best to save a young soldier by him as the building they were in came crumbling down.
But to no avail.
He was crushed. As was part of Girad.
The shaking had ceased, and the dust had yet to clear, but Girad knew he was hurt and stuck. He may have screamed. The dirt coating the inside of his throat suggested that he had. There was pain he couldn’t pinpoint. Under all the rubble and stone, it was like he’d lost feeling of where exactly everything in his body was.
He looked up, blood running down the side of his face, and saw the sky, bright and blue above him, where there had once been a ceiling. Now he could only hope that help would come, and that others had survived this.
