When Sasuke Uchiha finally decided to bring home his girlfriend, his mother, Mikoto couldn’t help but make the day special for the girl with the help of the Uchiha men or so she thought… "Guys, why were you all wearing black? Work Text:

Today's the day; the day that Sasuke Uchiha would bring home his girlfriend, Sakura Haruno. The day that he would let her see the full glory of the Uchiha residence.

Thus, to celebrate this once in a blue moon event, the Uchiha family prepared for the special girl's arrival. They ensured that their schedule was free on this special day, even marking it in their calendars.

Afterall, who would have thought that the youngest member of the family knew the existence of girls?

Who would have thought that the quietest Uchiha could speak in human language to other people aside from his relatives?

Truly, it was a miracle for Sasuke and for their clan.

And so, early in the morning, the Uchiha household except for Sasuke, cleaned their mansion and transformed its ambiance in a ‘party mode’ by decorating it with balloons and banners.

To make it grander, they also prepared homemade food for this special occasion and of course, the gifts for the lady were arranged as well.

In short, everything was ready.

But despite this, the Uchiha matriarch was still anxious.

She hoped to give her future daughter in-law a core memory.

She wanted to let the girl feel welcomed and let her treasure this day as perfectly awesome which was impossible with these Uchiha men being so clueless and aesthetically challenged.

Though Mikoto could hire experts for this type of event, she opted not to do for she wished that Sakura would feel the sincerity of their family and see their gentleness and warmth despite bearing the cold surname, Uchiha.

Hence, after Sasuke went to fetch his girlfriend, Mikoto hastily summoned the remaining family members in the living room.

And as expected, they've already given her a headache, much to her dismay.

"Guys, why were you all wearing black? Were we having a funeral? And what if she thought we belong into some cult or descendant of darkness? She might leave Sasuke if she had a bad impression on us so change; change your shirts!" she ordered.

"Wear something nice and colorful, no black for today," she added, making the Uchiha men to go in their respective rooms and changed their tops.

A few minutes after, the men went back to the living room. Upon seeing them, Mikoto still wasn't satisfied, for all of them changed into white shirt instead. Right, their closets were only composed of black and white clothing.

"For now, I'll let all of you slide for wearing white but if the girl would still visit us next time, I'm really, really going to buy you a multi-colored shirt and I'll hide all your black and white ones. Understood?" Mikoto declared, scaring the men and forcing them to automatically nod.

Now, done with their looks, she moved to their assigned mission; checking on it, better yet, nitpicking on it.

And she started with Obito.

"My goodness, Obito! What's with that banner?!" She exclaimed in horror as she saw a big tarpaulin of italicized ‘Welcome Home Sakura Haruno’ styled with a ‘sky filled with flying doves’ background and a pixelated picture of the pinkette.

"Aunt, wasn't this beautiful?! It would give Sakura a feeling of serenity and calmness in our home." Obito grinned, satisfied with his work. And if one would question him for his inspiration, he would gladly share that it was influenced by a burial ceremony he attended a few days ago.

"No! Redo it, it's like she's going to enter the heaven, not our family. And why did you pixelate her face? Haven't you searched for her picture on her socials?" Mikoto asked.

"Well, Sasuke never showed a picture of her before. And if I stalked her social media accounts, your son would probably not invite me in his wedding; he’s stingy when it comes to his girl." Obito defended.

"I see...point taken. Just replace the background and her name. Put 'Sakura Uchiha' instead, she's going to become one of us anyway... Okay, Shisui, you're next!" Mikoto commanded, going to the said man’s area which made her to plaster a frown on her face upon arrival.

"Shisui, why did you put Sasuke's embarrassing stories in the balloon?"

The said man creased his forehead; believing he did not do something wrong.

For him, it's okay to share with Sakura that Sasuke peed in his pants at 7, accidentally brought a bag full of roaches in school at 10 and wore his jersey in the wrong side at a basketball game when he was 12. Afterall, they'd be closer with these shameful stories.

"Aunt, don't you know that knowing one's embarrassing story makes you closer with them? I am just strengthening Sasuke and Sakura's relationship. Besides, would you not want to exchange tales of Sasuke with his girlfriend? I'm sure she would enjoy the talk." Shisui explained, enlightening Mikoto.

"Hmmm, I guess you're right. Why don't you add some more? Go open his journal or something and find more enjoyable narrations."

Shisui's eyes sparkled for he has a lot more stories to share.

He wanted to share how Sasuke has a doodle of 'SxS forever' at the back of his book and how 'I'll call Sakura' was the keyword for Sasuke to treat them with lunch.

"Got it. Auntie, I'll find more interesting tales of Sasuke." he answered, dashing away to the youngest Uchiha's room.

Seeing Shisui gone, Mikoto shifted her attention to Itachi who just came out from their kitchen with a dish.

"Itachi, honey! I love you but could you please cook something else? Let's limit your obsession for eggs today, please?" she requested.

She's afraid that Sakura would dream of laying eggs after eating egg soup, eggs benedict, egg pie, perfect sunny side up, and many more.

"Ah, you could bake cookies and cake for your future sister in-law. I'm sure she'll love it."

Itachi nodded. "I'll go with that, mother. Thank you."

"You're welcome, my son.”

Satisfied with the response of her eldest, Mikoto turned to her husband.

“You, Fugaku. Why are you just standing on the side? Go in front of the mirror and practice your smile. Don't go scaring your future daughter in law with your stern look." She advised.

Wait, on second thought, just sit around the corner, it's creepier when you smile." She corrected.

Ugh... she's already tired talking to four Uchiha men. She felt like her energy was sipped away and there were two more left to be checked; Madara and Indra who were tasked to give gifts.

Luckily, the 'Team Gifts' did a job well done. Madara, who was assigned to give roses, prepared a duplicate house key instead. His reason?

Well, in his words, ‘Why bother giving roses if their mansion has a garden full of roses’ which Mikoto found logical.

On the other hand, Indra who was assigned for clothes, designed a beautiful cheongsam painted in red with Uchiha clan symbol at the back for Sakura.

"I guess, somehow we did a good work..." Mikoto murmured, assessing the overall status of their preparation.

"Mother, I forgot to ask before but, does Sasuke know that we prepared for my future sister in-law's arrival?" Itachi asked, making the matriarch to stiffen.

Uh-oh! She actually forgot to tell them that Sasuke did not know about their preparation, all he knew was no one was at home right now.

Retracing the events, a week ago, she just accidentally saw the text of his youngest son inviting his girlfriend at home on this date.; he did not exactly ask permission or tell them that the pinkette would visit today.

Wait… Did that mean… their son wanted to show their home but did not want them to meet Sakura? Did that mean… Sasuke wanted an alone time with his girlfriend?

Was that his intention?

Oh no, it seemed they destroyed Sasuke’s plan...

Now, Sasuke would not really invite them to his wedding in the future; or worst, he would not acquaint them with Sakura.

"Uhm, no? Do you think we could return our house to its normal state before Sasuke comes or probably we could all go out to have a coffee?" Mikoto sheepishly asked.

But, too bad.

Before the Uchiha men could reply, the door clicked and revealed a surprised Sasuke with a pink-haired girl.

Sasuke blinked once, twice, thrice... he put the pieces together and a realization came up.

"Sakura, I think I got the wrong house," he said as he pushed the girl away from the door, putting a lot of question mark in Sakura's head.
