Alex smiles when Jo first settles against her side. It’s been months since Joanna invited her back ‘home’, months since they worked together to bring Wendy home and months since Joanna finally kissed first.
Now, curled together on the porch swing that Alex has set up, Alex knows Joanna finally feels safe and loved. It’s all she’s ever wanted. Joanna, happy, finally not overthinking her life. They work best like this, quietly calm and happy.
“I missed you…”
“I missed you too Jo.”
Alex murmurs, trailing light fingers through soft hair.
“I’m home now.”
She means it, she thinks, she is finally home.
