Work Text:
Sakuma wasn't one for cold. He wasn't one for rain, either. Any sign of anything besides the sun, and he was complaining about it. So when rain appeared, he was not going outside unless absolutely necessary. It's too wet, too cold, too windy. It's just too much.
Genda didn't really mind the rain. Whenever he forgot his umbrella, he just walked around in the rain. It's shit to maintain his hair after, it being similar to a lion mane, but he didn't mind much. Sakuma grumbled at how unbothered his boyfriend was about it.
But after moving in with each other, there had been a few different ways rainy days were spent.
First, if Sakuma had to go anywhere, he was taking Genda's umbrella and raincoat. They were both bigger and covered more of him. Sakuma never liked how wet his clothes got after a few minutes outside. Genda would snap pics of him when he wasn't looking. He'd put them in a folder titled 'My oversized penguin'. Sakuma didn't know about that folder, and it was better if he didn't. Genda wouldn't want him to combust from embarrassment and love.
Second, if Genda had to go anywhere, Sakuma would hit him over the head. The man always went everywhere on his motorbike. Even during the rain. When he got home, he was soaked head to toe, and Sakuma had to be the one to help him dry his hair. And he'd, of course, catch a cold as well. And then for the next two days, Sakuma would have to nurse him back to health because he was a big baby when sick and couldn't take care of himself. Sakuma kept a secret photo folder of his own for when Genda acted like that.
Third, if both of them had to go anywhere, Sakuma would force them both into the car. He was not taking care of a sick Genda again, and he sure as hell wasn't walking in the rain either. He'd make sure to park near the entrance so the walk with the umbrella wouldn't be too long. And of course, if it was to the same place, they'd share the umbrella. Genda would exit the car or building first, opening the umbrella, and then offering his hand to Sakuma so they could both calmly walk to their destination.
And lastly, if they didn't have to be anywhere, Genda wouldn't even allow them to exit the bed unless absolutely necessary. Maybe he'd allow them to spend it on the couch. There would be ordered food because the weather wasn't the type to motivate either of them to cook. There would be movie watching as they cuddled up with snacks. If it was overly cold, they'd pull out the fluffiest blankets they had and spend the day under them. There would be hot drinks and game boards. There would be lit candles and dancing in the kitchen as they waited for the water for tea to boil, many times with no music in the background. Just their heartbeats to hold a rhythm.
Rainy days weren't always a favorite, but they held dear memories for both.
