Chapter Text
Michael always was a bit of a flirt and the more interactions he had with you, the flirtier he became. It used to be a result of genuinely liking someone but as he got older, Michael noticed that it had just become another skin to slip into in the vast wardrobe of his psyche. It was a few weeks into shooting when Michael noticed that his predilection for flirtatious banter was taking on a different note.
" Honestly David that is the snakiest looking walk I have ever seen. " They both had been lingering on set while cameras were being adjusted, waiting for the cue for them to be needed. again
David made a distinctly Scottish noise in his throat. " A bit hard to walk any other way when you can't bend your knees much mate. "
They were being summoned back in place and David swore that he could hear Welsh rumblings along the lines of " slutty slinky hips " and grinned, kicking the swagger up a notch or two. After they had wrapped up for the day and both had returned to their respective rooms for the evening, David heard the distinctive ping of a text arriving. Glancing at the clock, he figured it must have been his wife wishing him a good night after wrangling their children into bed. Instead, it was from Michael wanting to know if he was up for a chat. Rather than bothering to text back, he just rang Michael directly.
" Hullo Michael! What's on your mind?"
" I hope I'm not disturbing you dear, I just wanted to discuss a thought I was having for some of the upcoming scenes. Would it be ok if I stopped by for a bit or are you done in for the night?"
David pondered that for a moment. On the one hand, he was tired and starving, wanting nothing better than to crawl into his bed after finding something that passed as food. On the other hand, he had grown rather fond of Michael's company in a short amount of time. He must have been thinking about an answer for much longer than he suspected because the next thing he heard was an offer of food in the most convincing tone possible. David relented at that.
" Well when you put it that way, come on over and bring something delicious with you. "
" Something more savory than me? You wound me, sir!"
" A very palpable hit I'm sure."
Chuckling at his joke, David provided the necessary details and was promised food in short order. After hanging up the line, he wasted no time shucking his clothes and jumping in the shower. Not long after, a knock sounded on his door. Unfolding himself from the chair he had been relaxing in, David went to the door. Upon his threshold, was a person-sized bundle of bits and bobs. At a cursory glance, it seemed there was enough food to feed an army along with an array of alcohol. Not sure which bit would disturb the balancing act that was happening, he carefully removed the takeout bag that seemed the safest and ushered Michael inside.
" Did you buy out the whole place then? "
A ghost of a laugh emerged from the leaning tower.
" I wasn't quite sure what you would want so I got a sampling. Do you mind grabbing the wine, please? " Michael waggled his left hand as if there was any confusion as to what he was referring to. David quickly retrieved the parcel in question, their fingers sliding across each other, causing a small thrill to run through his hand. Ignoring the sensation, he steadily got Michael divested of the rest of his burdens and gave him a proper hug hello.
After getting everything laid out and situated, they both took a moment to just unwind and enjoy the food. David enjoyed watching Michael talk, he was also so passionate in what he was speaking about that David couldn't help but be enraptured. When people say that the Welsh are naturally gifted storytellers, they aren't lying. David came back to himself when he realised that he was being asked a question.
" I'm sorry I didn't catch that. "
Michael rolled his eyes playfully and chuckled " I could have just asked you to strip down and run starkers through the park with me and you would never know it. A twinkle shone in his eye. " I will try not to be offended that my anecdotes seem to bore you. What I asked you was if you were ready to discuss my idea."
David, ever the polite person that he was, was momentarily horrified that he had truly offended until he realised that Michael was being his playful self. David nudged him with a long, slender foot in mild reproach.
" Tell me this thought of yours then. " He refolded his lanky limbs into some configuration of comfort and gave Michael his full attention.
Michael suddenly found himself the recipient of intense eye contact and wasn't quite sure what to do with it. Brushing those thoughts away for another time, he launched into his idea.
" So you see, I think this is about the time that Aziraphale figures out that the relationship between him and Crowley has shifted a bit and is allowing himself to feel those emotions but still desperately trying to not let those emotions show. "
David hummed in response to that, deferring to Michael's greater knowledge of the source material. The two of them already had excellent chemistry as it was so he didn't think it would be too difficult to bring some of that into the upcoming scenes.
" I think that is an excellent idea. This story is. as you say, one of the greatest love stories of the 21st Century. I just hope we do it justice." David glanced at the clock and swore softly. " As much as I love doing this with you, we do have an ungodly early day tomorrow and I don't think they will be too happy with us if we were late. " David thought there was more disappointment than the situation required that flashed through Michael's eyes but it was gone as quickly as it came so he couldn't be sure. Michael started packing away their impromptu feast and started towards the door.
" I hope you found something to sate your appetite tonight after all. " With a wink, he was gone and David was left shaking his head in amusement and crawled into bed.
