Kiss me (kiss me with your eyes closed)

Summary:

When he finally opens his eyes, he can’t stop looking at Reo. He seems out of breath, and Nagi can’t stop staring at him, mesmerized by him, by the way his hair is all tangled even though Nagi can’t remember having put his hands in it.
“Why did you—”
Why did he stop kissing him?
Because they need to go? Because Reo has always been the one forcing him to practice back when they were in Hakuho? Because, if they keep kissing, Nagi doesn’t know if he could stop himself?
Nagi isn’t really sure which explanations Reo wants, but his mouth is moving faster than his mind.
“Practice.”

(Or; Unfortunately, Nagi isn't a telepath so he doesn't know what's wrong with Reo whenever they kiss.)

Notes:

It took me way too much time to finish this fic but i'm really happy with the result, it was supposed to only by 3.5k and look at it now! 8.5k, it's a big baby :DD

Thank you again Myforestinruins for taking the time to beta-read this work even though you're busy, without you, I would surely still be unable to decide between my two title suggestions <33

The title is from the song "Puppy Princess" by Hot Freaks

Hope it will make everyone forget the last epinagi chapter...
Enjoy!

Work Text:

They kiss. They are kissing right now, and it’s even better than Nagi thought it would be: Reo is perfect against him; his hands, against the back of his neck, are playing with the baby hair here, his lips are soft, pliant against his own et Nagi doesn’t want to stop kissing him.

He can feel Reo taking a sweet breath against his lips, and it makes something inside him curl; having the one he wants the most with him, the one he treasures and treasures him, like this. Nagi puts his hands on Reo’s waist, and even though he is not small at all, Nagi’s hands are big and there’s this strange but addictive feeling running through his entire body when he notices this fact.

They keep kissing for what feels like a lifetime, and honestly, a lifetime kissing Reo doesn’t seem too bad for Nagi. He would continue if they didn’t need to go practice, but he knows Reo, he knows he would never agree to bunk off practice just to kiss. Because, if they want to win the World Cup, to fulfil their dream, they need to get better and better.

(And of course, kissing make Nagi feels a lot better, he suddenly has too much energy, it’s like he can’t keep in place, like he can do anything, his body is filled with excitement —and arousal, it would be a lie to say kissing Reo didn’t affect him a bit—, but it will not make them win the World Cup, it’s not this type of “better” Nagi needs to be.)

Nagi starts to slowly retreat. It’s not like he wants to stop this activity, but he needs to. When their lips finally separate, Reo doesn’t seem to like that, with his hands on Nagi’s nape, he brings him closer again and Nagi can’t stop the whining coming out of his mouth when their lips touch once again before ultimately letting go.

When he finally opens his eyes, he can’t stop looking at Reo. His Reo, looking absolutely divine with his red cheeks and bruised lips. Nagi’s heart is beating so fast and his head is full of something —or nothing, he can’t really tell—, maybe Nagi became mush under these lips.

Reo seems out of breath but is the first to speak. And Nagi can’t stop staring at him, mesmerized by him, by the way his hair is all tangled even though Nagi can’t remember having put his hands in it. He wants to unknot it like Reo sometimes does with his.

“Why did you—”

Why did he stop kissing him?

Because they need to go, maybe? Because Reo has always been the one forcing him to practice back when they were in Hakuho? Because, if they keep kissing, Nagi doesn’t know if he could stop himself?

Nagi isn’t really sure which explanations Reo wants but his mouth is moving faster than his mind and Reo doesn’t even have the time to finish his question that he is already answering.

“Practice.”

He is pretty sure their team is waiting for them, after all, they’re the only one in the locker room for ten minutes, but the only thing in his head is the desire to kiss Reo again. Although Reo doesn’t seem to think the same, he steps aside from Nagi and doesn’t look him in the eyes when he speaks again.

“We should go…”

Something feels off, even Nagi can sense it. Unfortunately, he doesn’t know what’s suddenly going on inside Reo’s head because he isn’t a telepath, he can’t read his thoughts and he needs Reo to explain him clearly everything. But Reo doesn't seem to want to talk about it.

“Reo?” Are you okay? —he can’t even mutter the end of his sentence, because even though they just kiss, when Reo finally looks his way, he seems so sad, miserable, and Nagi isn’t sure he can withstand a negative answer.

Was the kiss bad? Nagi doesn’t think so, but he doesn’t really have experience to compare it to, however, Reo is surely much more experienced in this matter and could, without a doubt, tell it was the first time Nagi kissed someone. Or maybe Reo isn’t the type of boyfriend —they are boyfriends now, right?! Reo is his boyfriend and he is Reo’s!— who likes kissing, yes, he is a really tactile guy, even though since they start talking again, he seems to be a little bit more reserved than before Blue Lock, but some person doesn’t like kissing and Nagi is okay with that, he is okay with everything Reo wants or doesn’t want.

“We need to go, the others are surely waiting for us…” The words aren’t even fully out that Reo is already walking away, surely in the field direction, he doesn’t check behind him to see if Nagi is following him or not.

“Hmm…” But of course, Nagi follows him. They’ve been separated for too long to let Reo slip between his fingers, this time he needs to do everything correctly, to communicate with him, he won’t allow another misunderstanding between them.

Yet, Reo doesn’t look at him, looking ahead while avoiding his gaze, and once again, Nagi wonders what he could be thinking about. They should talk about the kiss, about them, but Nagi senses Reo doesn’t want to talk about it right now, so he says nothing. Communication is so hard for him, and he really wants to try; he wants, this time, to make it work between him and Reo. But communication is a two-way road and Nagi doesn’t know if he can’t make it if Reo doesn’t want to tell him what’s wrong.

Nagi ends up walking by Reo’s side, shortening the distance that had appeared between them just a moment ago with long steps. Then, he gently puts his hand against Reo’s, just letting his fingers skim against Reo’s fingers and waits for him to make the next move. It only takes a second and a peculiar look from Reo —that, again, Nagi can’t decipher— before he finally slots their hands together.

Cautiously, Nagi strokes his thumb on the knuckles here, feeling how Reo’s fingers faintly react with the movement. He wants to hold Reo’s hand forever. Reo’s eyes are on him in an instant and there is still this particular emotion in them, like something isn’t quite right, but he doesn’t mutter a word about it and neither does Nagi.

“Let’s go to practice.”

“Hmm…”

[...]

They are in the baths. The practice is over, and Nagi doesn’t know where everyone went, but Reo is here so, honestly, he doesn’t really care.

Speaking of Reo, the young man is currently, gently, carefully, washing Nagi’s hair, he seems in his head and Nagi wonders if he is thinking about the kiss —kisses? Nagi isn’t sure how kisses are supposed to be counted or if they are even supposed to be counted, but he doesn’t think it really matters—. Maybe they should talk about it, or maybe Reo will talk about it when he is ready, Nagi can wait.

But even though Nagi can wait, it’s frustrating to not hear Reo speak, and he can’t stop himself from calling him.

“Reooo…” He whines. “I want to hear your voice…” I want to hear the sound of your voice forever.

He feels the way Reo’s fingers suddenly freeze in his hair before starting to move again. Nagi can’t really look at him right now: it would require him to tilt back his head, but he is sure Reo’s ears are red; his skin blushes easily and takes a pretty tone. It's cute to see him lose his composure when Nagi says things like that.

But he quickly regains control and Nagi knows he is smiling, he can hear it in Reo’s tone.

“What do you want to talk about my treasure?”

“I don’t care, I just want to hear your voice…”

“Nagi…” Reo sighs. “Maybe we should talk about… the practice.”

The way he says the last word is particular. But Nagi doesn’t really pay attention to it, even though something, at the back of his mind, is muttering Reo isn’t smiling anymore, he just likes hearing Reo’s voice. He also likes the feeling of Reo’s fingers in his hair, it makes him feel like he is melting against Reo, and honestly, he would be okay with that.

“I think you did well.” He responds without really thinking about it, answering Reo is an automatism.

He doesn’t know if it’s what Reo wants to hear but it’s not like he is lying: Reo is incredible, and on the field he always has multiple ideas, strategies, plans, that Nagi couldn’t imagine coming up with. Reo is a genius, even though he always acts like Nagi is the only genius between them.

“Tilt your head back.” Is the only answer Nagi got.

He obeys and lets his gaze wander on Reo, on the way his face is slightly red while he seems focused on his task, on the way he sticks out his tongue without realizing it when he concentrates on something.

“Close your eyes before getting shampoo in them.”

Nagi keeps looking at Reo for a little while longer, and only when their eyes meet, only then, Nagi slowly closes his. He feels water on his head, his hair is gently rinsed, pushed back carefully by tender fingers, and when they’re finally both clean, Reo pats Nagi’s back a few times before talking.

“Let’s go in the bath now.”

“Mmh…” Nagi follows Reo without an ounce of hesitation.

The water is perfect, neither too cold nor too hot. And Reo is also perfect, with his hair wet, some strands put behind his ear, and with his shining eyes, such a pretty colour for a pretty person. Practice has exhausted Nagi, he doesn’t have the energy to swim around, however, he may have the energy to do something else.

“Reooo…” Moans Nagi. “Let’s kiss…”

“Right now?!” Reo’s face blushes a pleasant red and Nagi watches and watches and watches and can’t stop looking at him.

“Why not?” Nagi gets closer to the other boy. “You don’t want to?”

Nagi hasn’t forgotten the way Reo reacted the first time, so, maybe, he doesn’t really like kissing and hasn’t had the occasion to inform Nagi yet, or maybe Nagi is just a bad kisser.

“That’s not it Nagi…”

Then, his previous reaction —probably— wasn’t caused by a bad kiss or because Reo hates kissing, Nagi, therefore, would —surely— have the opportunity to kiss him again. This information motivates him immediately and he can’t stop himself from opening his mouth.

“I did well today, I deserve to be spoiled.”

“Nagi…”

“Reoo….”

Nagi comes closer to Reo, looking at him with pleading eyes —honestly, he isn’t really good at pleading eyes, Isagi once told him it just looks like bug-eyes—. Reo sighs, but he doesn’t sound genuine, however, the way his lips curl a little while looking at Nagi is. He gently puts his hand on Nagi’s arm and pulls him closer and closer; they’re face to face and the only thought in Nagi’s head is Reo Reo Reo.

“Only for practice…” Finally mutters Reo against Nagi’s lips before pressing his lips on them.

It’s right, kissing Nagi is a good motivation, a good reward for his hard work, it makes him want to practice again and again to be better and better and to get more kisses from Reo. But he also hopes the kisses wouldn’t only be reserved for post workout: he wants to kiss Reo again and again even when there isn’t any training involved.

Nagi can only agree and deepen the kiss, their teeth clash for a second but neither of them cares. He presses Reo against the rims of the bath and puts his hands on the side of his neck, feeling how fast Reo’s heart is beating against his fingers. Good, he thinks and there is again this feeling that appears in his chest, it makes his head spin or maybe it’s just kissing Reo who causes this effect, he isn’t really sure anymore.

Then, one of Reo's hands is on his own neck, where Nagi puts his hand, interlacing their fingers and Nagi’s heart flutters in his ribcage, it is probably going to explode soon. Reo’s other hand is still on his arm, pulling him closer and closer and Nagi hopes he will never release his grip.

Their lips separate one instant. Their breaths mingle. Their eyes meet and Nagi gets lost in them. His head is buzzing pleasantly.

“Nagi…” Reo whispers and Nagi feels more than hears the way his name is muttered against his skin.

He can’t stop himself and kiss Reo again and again. His whole body is hot, Reo’s skin is burning under his fingers and Nagi wants them to melt together, he doesn’t want to move anymore.

He lets his mouth trace the side of Reo’s neck, feeling his pulsing, but with his lips this time, and the way his throat moves. He wants to bite him. To mark him. And he could, but he doesn’t. It’s not fair for Reo.

Kissing is enough for now. More than enough. Kissing is more than he ever dreamed he could have with Reo. So, he ends up meeting Reo’s lips again, even though every time they kiss Nagi feels like he is burning up, like, soon, he will be only ash and dust because kissing Reo ignites him, sets his whole body on fire and he can’t stop it, can’t stop himself from wanting more and more

And maybe, after reflection —not that Nagi is thinking a lot right now, after all, the only thing on his mind is Reo—, kissing naked in a communal bath isn’t a great idea, because Nagi is aware of the way Reo’s body is pressed against his own, he is aware of the way Reo’s mouth lets go a litany of songs, aware of his own noises when one of Reo’s hand ends up grasping his hair and pulling on it. He is aware of the excitation and arousal consuming him, however, he just can’t stop all these sensations when he is with Reo, he feels the way his heart beats so fast in his chest and senses another feeling expanding in his head and guts, he can’t name it but it feels good.

Nevertheless, Nagi is especially aware of his hard-on.

They are still kissing, and when they finally stop, their hands are all wrinkled by the water and they are out of breath, a string of saliva connecting their lips. Reo’s eyes are like shining stars, or maybe it’s just the public bath light, and his skin is flushed, by the kisses or the humidity in the air, Nagi can’t tell. But he can tell that Reo is as aroused as he is.

So, he presses his thigh between Reo’s legs.

And he is immediately pushed away with a yelp.

“It’s enough… we should stop” Reo’s face is so red. Nagi wants to bite his cheek and hears his soft groans again. He doesn’t. “Let’s get out before you get dizzy.”

And Reo is right: his head is spinning, however, it’s hard to know if it’s because of the heat around them or just because of Reo himself. Nagi lets Reo drag him out of the bath, because he is like that, he always takes care of Nagi first then of himself, because Nagi is his treasure.

Carefully, he takes a towel to dry Nagi’s hair, then, he takes the hairdryer and tenderly untangles the strands, slowly unknotting each lock. The action is making Nagi’s inside squirms pleasantly. Reo is talking and Nagi tries to listen to him, he really does, unfortunately, his head is spinning, the hair dryer is making noise, the fingers in his hair are so good they make him a little bit drowsy, and Reo is talking quietly, so he doesn't quite catch what he asks him.

He only hears the words “practice” and “Isagi” but he gets the idea of the question and nods. He is practicing hard to beat Isagi, to destroy him and devore him, because Isagi is an obstacle, and Nagi knows he can only get better if he wins against him. And Reo surely knows that, probably feels the same, so Nagi isn’t really sure why he was asked this question.

The hair dryer is turned off, and Reo just lets two words come out of his mouth before going silent.

“I see…”

His tone is bizarre, his fingers are tugging Nagi’s hair, like he isn’t here anymore, like he is in his own head and can’t control his body reaction. When he finally realizes what he is doing, he immediately lets go before starting to apologize. Nagi didn’t mind the tugging, but he did mind the way Reo is suddenly acting strangely, he doesn’t like it, it reminds him of their first kiss.

When he turns his head to look at Reo, Reo’s eyes aren’t on him. Nagi has the impression he did something bad and he doesn’t know what. What a hassle, if only he knew what the problem was, but again, they don’t communicate enough and Nagi can’t read Reo’s thoughts.

“Reo…” Murmurs Nagi, pleading eyes looking for a smile from his boyfriend. He wants to see him happy, but he doesn’t know why, each time they kiss, Reo seems miserable.

“Let’s get dressed and get out of here.” Reo answers without even looking at him.

Nagi wants his eyes on him; he craves for his attention.

“Reo… Carry me in the bedroom after…” He wants to touch him more; he wishes to stay by his side forever.

A little smile finally appears on Reo’s face and he lets out a laugh.

“I spoil you too much treasure.”

“Hmm… I want to be spoiled forever.” by you is left unsaid, but Reo surely understands it’s implied.

And Reo’s expression, once again, turns sombre, and with his eyes finally on Nagi, filled with sorrow, and a sad smile, he doesn’t respond. He seems more and more far away. Nagi doesn’t know how to keep him by his side, maybe he shouldn’t, maybe Reo isn’t happy with him anymore and he needs to let him go.

“Please, Reo…” He mutters, big eyes staring, and staring at Reo, he can’t stop looking at him; even sad, Reo is the most beautiful person on Earth. “Don’t make this expression.”

Reo answers his plea with a shake of his head and another miserable smile.

“Sorry Nagi, I was in my head. Let’s get dressed.”

Nagi would give everything to be in Reo’s head and understand what’s going on in it. But he is not, so he just nods. He would like to say something to cheer up Reo, but he doesn’t know what to say —he never knows what to say when he needs to— so he keeps his mouth closed, his gaze still following Reo. What a pain.

[...]

The third time they kiss, Nagi is full of adrenaline and doesn’t really think about it until his lips are against Reo’s and they’re kissing and Reo is, once again, soft and pliant in his arms. Nagi can’t think, the only thing inside his brain is a flow of Reo’s hair tickling his face, Reo’s lips on his, Reo’s scent around him, Reo’s hands in his hair, Reo, Reo, Reo— and suddenly he remembers where they are and reluctantly start to move down, then Reo pulls on his hair and he is, over again, against these lips, and he can’t stop the sounds coming out of his mouth.

There is a whirl, a storm of feelings in his chest, and when they finally stop kissing, Nagi wants to do it once again. Reo is addictive, his bright eyes are the prettiest in the world and he is looking at Nagi like he is the most precious person existing on earth, like he is his most precious person and Nagi feels like his heart is going to explode.

He just scores a goal, they are certainly broadcasted on live, but he doesn’t care, and he hopes Reo doesn’t either. Nagi honestly feels like he just won the world cup and it’s one of the best feelings he has ever felt, his chest is so full of something he can’t explain and maybe, maybe, Reo is feeling the same thing and would explain it to him later.

Reo is still looking at him, and Nagi, of course, is looking back, he knows he surely doesn’t look appealing right now; just having scored a goal after having run what feels like a million miles, he knows he is sweating a lot, his face is probably red and disgusting —while Reo is the most dazzling person he has ever seen, with his charming smile and his fascinating dimples—. But there’s something tender in Reo’s gaze, something that looks so similar to fondness but isn’t really that, and Nagi is sure he’s looking at him the same way he is looking at.

Then, there is another weight on Nagi’s back and he finally hears all the noise around them, the cries and the howls of everyone, of course it’s noisy, Nagi just scores a goal and runs to Reo to kiss him.

Chigiri is on him, yelling with all he has, and Reo finally stops looking at him to look at their teammates. He is smiling —of course he is smiling, their team scores a goal, Nagi scores a goal!—, but, again, there is this strange emotion in his eyes, cohabiting with the fondness in them, and Nagi wonders if he should ask about it. But it’s neither the time nor the moment for a serious discussion, it surely can wait after the match, and, maybe, Reo would talk about it after, or Nagi hopes so.

It isn’t the first time Nagi prays to have telepathic abilities, and it’s certainly not the last, but, sometimes, it feels like it would be the only way to really understand Reo.

“Keep the good work Nagi.”

It’s Reo’s voice who pulls him out of his thoughts and Nagi’s reply is immediate.

“Yes Boss.”

There is no arm against his shoulder or hand on his back, Reo just returns to his position. He seems to be smiling but Nagi can’t tell if it’s genuine or not, the only thing he can do is to look at his back, wondering what could be running inside his boyfriend’s head.

What a hassle to not be a telepath.

[...]

Nagi is stretched out in Reo’s bed, playing games on his phone while waiting for Reo. He doesn’t really know where he went, he just hopes it will not take too long for him to come back.

(He kind of feels lonely when they’re not together and, to be honest, he hopes they could cuddle and go to sleep, he likes when Reo’s voice lulls him to slumber.)

Unfortunately, Reo isn’t here, however, Chigiri is. And he is currently looking at him with a sceptical gaze, like something has happened and he didn’t know how to talk to Nagi about it. Of course, Nagi already knows what this is about; Chigiri, even though he acts like he is uninterested, really likes gossip. Or, more precisely, Chigiri likes hearing about Reo and Nagi's relationship, so, of course, he is going to talk about the kiss during the match.

To be honest, Nagi would prefer to talk about it to Reo first; talk about them, about the kisses but especially about their relationship, but it never seems like a good moment for it.

“So… You and Reo?”

And, right now, Reo isn’t here but Chigiri is, and he wants to talk about it.

“Yeah.”

“He told me a little bit about your situation.”

“Yeah. We’re back together.”

After Nagi’s response, there’s suddenly a silence in the room. When he looks up from his phone, it’s to see Chigiri watching him with a strange expression, like something isn’t right in Nagi’s statement.

“You’re back together? Back together? Like you were together before?”

And this time, it’s Nagi who looks at Chigiri strangely. He doesn’t really understand what the other is trying to say, what Reo could have told him to make him react this way at the news.

“Wait… Nagi, do you love Reo?”

Nagi brains freeze.

He had never thought about it.

And now he thinks about it, it seems logical. Of course, Nagi loves Reo; they were best friends and now they are boyfriends, he doesn’t just love Reo, he is in love with him. And Reo is allegedly in love with him too, if they’re together it means they love each other, right? Even though they hadn’t talked about it yet.

Nagi is supposed to be a genius, yet he couldn’t really understand the depth of his feelings until now, he couldn’t name the emotion in his chest when he kissed Reo, he didn’t know how to explain all the sensations in his body when he was near Reo. He couldn’t but now he can.

“Yeah… I’m in love with him.”

Maybe it’s the way Nagi mutters this truth, or maybe it’s the way his eyes shine, a minuscule smile slowly appearing on his face, or maybe it’s just because Nagi’s feelings are obvious when you really try to look at them, but Chigiri’s expression suddenly softens.

He doesn’t respond until he is finally lying on his bed, looking at the wall, and then he gently whispers:

“Maybe you should tell him…”

This time, it’s Nagi who says nothing.

Nagi isn’t really good with words; he tries to be better —mostly for Reo—, but sometimes speaking doesn’t seem essential. And even though he just understands what feelings were dancing in his chest, he knows that, even without telling them out loud, even without knowing their names, he had shown them to Reo. Thus, Reo already knows Nagi’s feelings; Reo already knows how much Nagi loves him, so, maybe, Nagi doesn’t really need to say them to him, maybe, just showing him is enough.

And it’s when Nagi is in his own head that Reo decides to come back into the room. He looks soft, comfy, in his pyjamas; his hair isn't tied anymore and Nagi wants to play with it, to tangle it just to have the possibility to unknot it after.

“Is Chigiri asleep?” Whispers Reo, while coming closer to his bed, and thus, of Nagi lying on it.

“Mmm.” Answers Nagi, his eyes following Reo, it’s surely not even the truth, but who cares? He doubts Chigiri magically fell asleep in three minutes, but he wants all of Reo’s attention for himself —even though he always has the majority of Reo’s attention all the time—.

“Are you sleeping in my bed tonight?”

“Hmm.” Answers Nagi a second time, his eyes still fixed on Reo, trying to express his want to cuddle together under the blanket. Reo, of course, doesn’t understand telepathy and Nagi is forced to open his mouth. “Reooo~…”

“Yes, treasure?” His voice is always gentle and soft when he talks to Nagi, it makes his heart pound faster in his chest.

“Come in bed with me Reooo~...” He whines, because when it’s about Reo, Nagi becomes a big baby who just wants to be spoiled —Chigiri’s words, not his own, as far as he knows, he always acts reasonably when it concerns Reo—.

And, strangely, Reo hesitates. Nagi sees the way his hands tenses during a second before relaxing, he sees the quick emotion passing in his eyes, like he is unsure about what to do. Except the answer is obvious, and that’s what Nagi can’t understand. Reo still acts strange since their first kiss and Nagi doesn’t know why and Reo won’t tell him.

Finally, Reo comes closer to his bed and tenderly caresses Nagi’s locks.

“Nagi…” He seems worn out, and Nagi can’t blame him, they did play a big match this afternoon.

“Reo…”

He gently takes Reo’s hand in his own, interlacing their fingers before pulling him in the bed with him.

It’s not the first time they sleep in the same bed, before Blue Lock, it already happens for Reo to sleep at Nagi’s and they just shared his bed. During the first selection, they shared the “high-quality bed” Reo exchanged for his point; they were the best nights’ sleep Nagi ever had. Of course, after the second selection, they didn’t share anymore. Thus, it’s a recent development for them to sleep in the same bed again, but Reo isn’t surprised anymore when he sees Nagi lying on his bed or feels him crawling under his blanket at night.

“Nagi…” Reo repeats in a whisper, he doesn’t look at Nagi. “I’m tired.”

Nagi gently pulls Reo against his chest and softly answers:

“Mmh… The match was pretty exhausting.”

“That’s not—” Reo sighs, and Nagi waits for their eyes to meet. They don’t. “Forget it…”

Anything for you. Thinks Nagi, but he isn’t sure Reo wants to hear his answer or not, wants to hear his lie, because even though he would do anything for Reo, he just can’t forget everything, he can’t act like he doesn’t see the way he seems miserable. Nagi can’t keep seeing Reo hurt himself over something he doesn’t understand, because he is looking more and more like the Reo from the second selection, distant and heartbroken, and Nagi doesn’t want this for him, he wants to see him happy and lively.

“Reo we need to talk.” He murmurs in his hair; Reo smells good, he always does.

And Reo still doesn’t look at him when, with his free hand, he suddenly pulls Nagi in a kiss, nearly knocking him off with the fast movement.

This kiss isn’t like the others, this one is desperate, like Nagi is going to disappear if Reo doesn’t kiss him with all his might. Maybe he is, because, here, with Reo slowly climbing on him, Nagi feels like he is melting.

He gently puts one of his hands on Reo’s cheek, letting him know he is here, and with his other hand, he strokes, delicately, the back of Reo’s hand, making little circles with his thumb. The kiss fades into something gentler, tender, and Nagi’s hand —the one who was on Reo’s cheek— goes down, grazing over Reo’s jaw, throat and chest, to finally end up on his waist.

Reo’s hair is like a curtain around them, his eyelashes are tickling Nagi’s face and Nagi can only feel love running through his veins. Love and arousal —because he can’t stop the reactions of his body when Reo is the one kissing him—.

When the kiss is broken, Nagi simply nuzzles against his treasure. He would love to kiss him more, of course, but he is also content with resting like this; it’s peaceful with Reo by his side. Reo, who is now pressed on top of him, his head on his collar bone, he has his eyes closed, but there’s a little crease on his face, and Nagi can’t help but kiss his hair.

“Nagi… I…” Reo softly mutters against his neck, breathless and ears red. “I think we should sleep.”

Nagi knows he is hard —it’s impossible not to be with Reo on top of him—, and with this position, he also knows he isn’t the only one, but who is Nagi to refuse something to Reo? Reo could ask him to unhook the moon from the sky and Nagi would do it without an ounce of hesitation. So he silently tightens his grip on Reo’s hand, lets his other hand on his waist, head still in his hair and slowly closes his eyes, letting Reo’s presence soothes him to sleep.

When morning comes and Nagi wakes up, Reo isn’t by his side anymore.

Chigiri, from his bed, looks at him with something akin to pity and Nagi, this time, also kind of feels pathetic.

Once again, they haven’t talked about everything.

Eight days have passed since the last time they kissed, not that Nagi’s is counting —it would be ridiculous, his mind is already full of Reo all the time, he doesn’t have the space in it to think about kissing Reo and his sweet lips on top of that!—, but they still hadn’t talked about it, about the way Reo’s expression suddenly changes after kissing him, like something is wrong. Talking about it isn’t a real necessity, it’s not a dire need, and Nagi could surely survived without kissing Reo anymore if he prefers it that way —well… he is not that sure he could survive without kissing Reo, at present, now that he knows how his lips taste and the sounds he could make, living without it seems like a pain—.

So Nagi isn’t sulking, because he is not the type to sulk, he is more the type who says what’s going on inside his head and what is bothering him. And right now, what is bothering him is the fact Reo has a really pretty smile and such cute dimples and Nagi isn’t kissing him.

Reo is talking to him and his eyes are shining and, maybe, surely even, he is the gods’ favourite: his hair is gently dancing with the breeze, and the sun is, without a doubt, a paid actor to make Reo looks this good, he seems unreal, like he’s only a part of Nagi’s imagination —and just the idea of Reo not existing is so upsetting, and something must show on Nagi’s face because Reo’s expression suddenly changes and his dimples disappear—.

“Sorry, it must be boring to listen to me ranting about that…”

Nagi shakes his head, listening to Reo is never boring, he could and would listen to him forever if it was an option, unfortunately it’s not.

“I like hearing you talk.” And seeing you so happy talking about something you like, and your voice, and your little dimples when you smile

Reo stops looking at him, like he’s trying to escape Nagi’s staring, and during a second, Nagi wonders if he’s mad. Surely not, Reo is never mad at him, or he is only when Nagi is acting like an idiot and forgets communication is the key in a relationship.

(Reo can’t read his thoughts and he still can’t read Reo’s.)

But now, Reo doesn’t seem mad, he seems embarrassed, his cheeks are a pretty red tone and is it wrong for Nagi to want to bite them? And it’s not only his cheeks that are red, his lips are too, and Nagi really wants to kiss them, to bruise them and see the way they could get redder after many kisses. So, Nagi gets closer to Reo, gently takes one of his hands into his own and waits for Reo’s eyes to finally come back to him.

This time, he doesn’t want to take Reo by surprise —even though the last time they kissed, it was more Reo who had taken him by surprise—, he wants to do it properly, he wants their eyes to meet then their lips and he wants Reo to appreciate the moment. He wants Reo to be happy, he wants to make Reo happy, because Nagi is egoistic, and he wants to keep Reo’s smiles only for him.

But when their eyes finally meet, Reo doesn’t seem happy.

“Nagi, isn’t it enough?” Reo asks, and, again, he looks miserable, and Nagi, again, doesn’t know what he did wrong. “I think you don’t need practice anymore.”

Nagi can only silently look at Reo, waiting for an explanation. He lets go of Reo’s hand, because he is not sure anymore if he has the right to touch Reo, to interlace their fingers like he did so many times. He tries his best to understand what’s going on, what Reo is talking about, why he seems so sad again, like he doesn’t want to kiss Nagi at all —and the thought hurts a bit, but Nagi should have known and not force Reo to do something he didn’t like, but unfortunately, Nagi is egoistic—.

“I think…” It seems so hard for Reo to get the following words out of his throat, and Nagi had never wanted to see him like this.

“Reo…” Nagi starts, he doesn’t like the way Reo immediately closes his mouth, he looks like he’s waiting for his death sentence and Nagi doesn’t really know what to say except the truth. “I don’t understand what you’re talking about.”

Reo suddenly raises his head, looking at Nagi, mouth agape and shining eyes, incomprehension written all over his face.

“What?”

“What do you mean what?” And again, Nagi doesn’t understand what’s going on, maybe he should have asked since the beginning, since he saw the way Reo looked miserable after each kiss and not wait for the right moment, because there is no right moment.

“What do you mean you don’t understand what I’m talking about?!”

Nagi doesn’t even dare blinking, afraid Reo would disappear right before him.

“I don’t understand Reo…” Then, he gently takes Reo’s hand in his own once again, he strokes his fingers on the back of his hand. It's mesmerizing, the way Reo’s fingers move just a little bit with the movement, it allows Nagi to concentrate on something else and to put order in his thoughts. “I don’t understand why you react this way every time we kiss. I don’t understand what you’re telling me. Reo, you need to explain things clearly to me.”

And Reo doesn’t move at all, he is frozen in place and it feels like eternity —and Nagi would be very happy to hold his hand for eternity, but he also would love an explanation, hoping he would be allowed to kiss Reo again after it—  before he finally says something.

“Nagi…” While the way Reo says his name is always full of tenderness —and it never fails to make Nagi’s heart feel so big in his chest and butterflies fly in his stomach— this time there’s also sorrow in his tone. “Why did you kiss me?”

“Because I wanted to.”

“I… don’t understand…” It’s not only the way Reo pronounces his name that's full of tenderness, but there is also the way he looks at him, Reo still looks at him with warmth in his eyes —after all Nagi is his treasure and he is Nagi’s—. It makes Nagi’s whole body combust.

But Reo doesn’t understand why Nagi kissed him, why he would want to kiss him, so he probably doesn’t know he is Nagi’s treasure, Nagi’s most precious person. He probably doesn’t even know he is Nagi’s boyfriend —and this thought, and the implications who go with it, make Nagi’s heart beat anxiously in his chest; is it his fault? Surely, he thought they were together since the first kiss and didn’t really need to talk about it; would Reo (still) want to be his boyfriend if he explains everything? He hopes so—.

However, Nagi is sure of one thing about himself, he knows he loves Reo and will never stop loving him, he just can’t, it’s impossible and it will never be possible because Nagi is born to love Reo. Because Nagi hadn’t any purpose in his life before meeting Reo: waking up, eating, even breathing was troublesome. But since Reo is by his side, the gears start working and everything isn't so bad anymore. Reo, by his presence alone, makes him want to live, to try, to change and to be better.

And even though Nagi knows this fact about him, and thought Reo knew, now, with the way he looks at him, the expression on his face —both wretched and gentle—, he is not sure anymore. He’s not sure anymore if Reo knows how much Nagi loves him and how much he changes his life for the better.

(He remembers Chigiri’s advice, and maybe he should have told Reo everything, but he didn’t.)

Maybe it’s this last thought, or maybe it’s the way Reo is watching him, or maybe it’s just all the feelings inside Nagi’s chest coming out into words he never pronounced —not by fear, but because Reo was supposed to already know them, Nagi didn’t think he needed to say them out loud, he didn’t thought Reo needed to hear these words and now, he knows he was wrong—, but he can’t stop the words leaking from his mouth.

“Reo, I love you.” He mutters, looking at Reo, he can’t stop looking at him, like if he did, Reo would suddenly disappear and, once again, Nagi would be alone —and now he has tasted Reo, his voice, his lips, his hands, he can’t live without him anymore, he can’t go back to being alone and being okay with it—.

And Reo is also looking at him, awestruck, mouth open and purple eyes glistening with every emotion he has in him. And finally, Nagi understands; there is fondness in Reo’s gaze, of course, there is also warmth, tenderness, vulnerability lace up with trust, but, most importantly, there is love in his eyes. And how Nagi didn’t recognize it before? Of course there is love in Reo’s eyes! They look at each other the same way after all!

That’s why Nagi can’t stop and won’t stop looking at him, because Reo always puts Nagi before him and now it’s Nagi’s turn. The idea of Reo thinking Nagi doesn’t love him the same way he does is unbearable, the idea of Reo thinking Nagi kissed him not because he loves him but for some reason is intolerable.

“I am in love with you.” Nagi doesn’t hesitate a second before talking again, he needs Reo to understand. “That’s why I kissed you and want to kiss you again. If you want to.”

His heart is beating fast, but it’s not with anxiety or fear. His heart is filled with love and warmth, because he is with Reo and they’re finally talking, and Reo, with his cheeks slowly becoming more and more red, is the most beautiful person in the entire world. With a gentle movement, he puts Reo’s hand against his chest, letting him feel how fast his heart is beating. It’s like it tries to speak its own language, a language of love invented for Reo, because if Reo dreams about winning the World Cup together, then Nagi dreams about them together. Because Nagi’s heart only beats for Reo.

“You… ugh…” Reo ends up against his chest, head on his collarbone and throat, he is warm, his touch is burning Nagi and Nagi loves it, loves the heat igniting in his whole body with just an embrace. Reo’s hand is still in Nagi’s grip, between them, feeling the erratic heartbeat against his palm.

Nagi waits for Reo to continue, the silence between them doesn’t bother him, it’s comfortable and he likes having the other against him, it’s like their hearts are beating together.

“I thought it was practice for you.” Reo whispers. “And… I thought it was the only way I could have you and I had accepted it.”

He has a sad smile on his face, and Nagi knows, he understands what it was all about. Reo thought Nagi just wanted to get better at kissing and, of course, he would ask his best friend for help, and, of course, Reo would accept his request. When Nagi saw a tender moment between them, Reo saw a time of restraint, where everything he wanted was in front of him but not for him to take, like he was a stepping stone for Nagi’s happiness.

Nagi doesn’t want any more misunderstandings, he wants Reo to see all their moments together differently, to show him how he saw them —soft, gentle, warm— and to finally see Reo’s face illuminated by joy and delight when they kiss once again.

“I thought we were boyfriends.” States Nagi.

“What?!”

“So we were not…” The confirmation stings a bit, but it’s okay, because Nagi is going to be Reo’s boyfriend at the end of the day —or he really hopes so—. “That’s why Chigiri reacted like that when we talked…”

“You have talked to Chigiri about it?!” Reo groans. “That’s why he was looking at me strangely lately!”

“Mmh…” A minuscule smile appears on Nagi’s lips. “I told him I was in love with you.”

“Nagi! You told Chigiri first?!” Reo’s face was, once again, red. “He’s going to be unbearable…” He mutters against Nagi’s throat; his breath is hot and makes Nagi shiver.

Then, there’s a laugh coming out of Reo’s mouth and the only thing Nagi can hear is love, because every sound Reo makes sounds like love and warmth when it touches Nagi’s skin. His head is fuzzy, he can only think how Reo practically confessed, how he gently said I thought it was the only way I could have you, how he makes Nagi act instinctively, irrationally.

“Reoooo…” He whines. “Can we kiss now?”

“Anything you want my treasure.”

Nagi immediately drives on the other’s lips and tastes, more than sees, the sweet smile on them. He closes his eyes, letting his mind be filled with Reo scent, Reo’s hair tickling his face, Reo’s eyelashes skimming against his cheeks, Reo’s smile against his, Reo’s hand in his own, Reo, Reo, Reo

When their lips separate, it’s not enough.

“Treasure—”

Nagi kisses him again, letting the end of the word dissolve against his lips.

“Nagi—”

And he doesn’t let him talk, not yet, he wants to savour the moment, to taste his laugh, his joy, his amusement with his own mouth, to make the most of this instant.

Because, inside him, he is apprehensive. Apprehensive to finally look at Reo’s eyes and still see sadness in them, to see that, even after their talk, this is not enough and Reo is miserable by his side. Nagi doesn’t know why he is feeling that way, because, he knows, he is practically certain that Reo reciprocates his feelings, that he is not wretched with him. But he is afraid, and sometimes, things can’t get explained.

There’s a hand in his hair who pulls him back from these lips and Nagi almost whimpers.

“Seishirou, listen to me.”

It’s the first time he hears Reo say his first name. Warmth erupts in his stomach and the only thing filling his mind is the way Reo has said Seishirou, he feels his cheeks warm up, and he knows, he is certainly blushing.

Nagi listens, if it allows him to hear his first name once again, then he accepts to stop kissing Reo for a little while —not too long though—. He waits, with love traveling across his body and fear in his heart.

Reo has a pretty smile on his face; he is looking at Nagi, their bodies pressed close. He gently puts his hands on Nagi’s red cheeks, letting his hair go to feel the warmth of his skin. His smile gets bigger and Nagi can see his dimples, he is dazzling; Reo is really the cutest and most handsome person on earth, he wants to kiss him again. Urgh, what a pain, he can’t right now but, at least, looking and listening to Reo is a good compromise.

Reo’s lips are moving, and Nagi watches them without blinking, he wants to devour them, but, at the same time, he also wants to be gentle, tender when he finally kisses them again.

“I love you.”

Oh.

Hearing these words for the first time is indescribable. It’s like there’s a swarm of butterflies in his stomach but it’s not really that, because it sounds like an understatement for the emotions emerging in his whole being, it’s so much more than some ridiculous insects. There’s excitement and elation filling every part of his body, his brain turns off, and when it comes back, Nagi can only think about love and Reo. It feels like everything and nothing at the same time and he wants to feel these sensations again and again, it’s addictive.

“Say it again.” Mutters Nagi, amazed. “Please.”

Another fond laugh escapes Reo’s lips. The dread in Nagi suddenly melts and makes way for elation and delight. He wants to hear Reo’s laugh forever, hear the way he says his name, the way he says he loves him, because he does! Reo loves Nagi and Nagi loves Reo, like it was supposed to be since the beginning, since they kissed for the first time, or maybe since they met. Maybe it was destiny, maybe it was fate, Nagi doesn’t really care about these things because Reo is all he cares about.

“Seishirou, I am in love with you.”

Nagi’s face is burning now. He understands why Reo had reacted this way when he first heard it, because, right now, he can only put his head on Reo’s shoulder and groan, he doesn’t know what to do with himself, his brain is filled with nothing.

Nagi feels a little kiss on his hair, and he can, once again, only whine, ears hot.

“Reoooo… I want a proper kiss.” He says while raising his head, eyes immediately locking on the lips in front of him.

“Anything for my treasure.” Reo is still smiling and Nagi wants to keep it that way forever.

Their mouths crash against each other again. It’s messy, they’re too eager, hungry for each other, greedy. There are hands gripping hair, waist, every part they can, their noses bump then their teeth clash, but their kisses taste like love.

“I love you.” Nagi says against Reo’s skin. “My treasure.” He adds, breathless.

It’s the first time he voices this thought, he had never called Reo his treasure out loud before, only in his head, but he knows he needs to voice more his thinking with the way Reo glows when he hears that. Their eyes meet, they can’t stop gazing at each other, Reo has a lovely smile on his mouth, marvellous eyes sparkling with fondness and charming dimples visible and Nagi’s heart is erratic in his chest.

“You are all I ever wanted.” Reo mutters.

Nagi’s eyes feel a little wet.

“Does it mean we’re boyfriends now?” Replies Nagi.

Reo laughs in response, and it’s like the sound makes Nagi fall more and more in love with Reo —and how? How can he love Reo more than he already did? He doesn’t know but he does—.

“If you will have me, then I’ll be yours.”

And of course, Nagi will have him; the question is not even worth asking, there is no doubt, not now, not never. Their fingers interlace, their breaths mingle and there is devotion and tenderness in both of their gazes, then Nagi answers.

“And I too.”

And for the first time, Nagi doesn’t wish to be a telepath. With red cheeks and swollen lips, he meets Reo in another kiss.

It tastes like love.

Notes:

I have so many wips for these two but i don't have time to write and it makes me going insane...
(also i'm thinking about writing this one but with the Reo's POV this time, im not sure)
