A Day Out

Summary:

Sky take their pup for a day out
-
"Sky should know better than allow Daw to pick a place to go. Of course his first answer was the market. The pup was fascinated by everything going around and always asked to go.

"Don't let go of my hand,' he reminded him.

Daw nodded and pulled him to one of the stalls. Sky followed him, making sure they didn't bump into anyone on the way."

Notes:

A dose of fluff for the best sun ever 💚 Hope you like it

The working title of this was "Bargaining war" but then it decided to turn into something else; and the struggle of finding another title happened XD

All typos are mine as usual^^

Work Text:

"Ma!"

Sky had just the time to hear the pup's call before he felt the impact and the tiny arms wrapping around his legs.

"What's up little star?" Sky said as he took the pup in his arms.

Daw rumbled and lightly scented him before answering, "Ma said I was staying with you today?"

"Did he?"

Don't give away the surprise, Sky thought. Daw didn't know he was the one who offered to take care of him for the day. Prapai and Rain had work to deal with and Phayu had enough on his arms with Pensri being sick all week. He had offered first to take care of Pensri but it had just earned him threats from his mate. He knew Phayu didn't mean it but it was best to give him some space. In other words: wait for Rain to come back. Rain could deal with it.

"Yes!"

Sky smiled at the happy shout of the pup and the tightened grip around his neck.

"And what about school?" he decided to tease, if only to see these little brows frowning. He looked so much like Rain when doing this. It was so easy to make them react.

"No school today," Daw said with a pout, crossing his arms over his chest.

Sky barely held on a little coo at how adorable the pup was. A few more minutes and he would be jumping from arms to stomp on the floor. No matter how many times they told him not to do it he still did.

"I know pup so, where do you want to go?"

Sky should know better than allow Daw to pick a place to go. Of course his first answer was the market. The pup was fascinated by everything going around and always asked to go.

"Don't let go of my hand,' he reminded him.

Daw nodded and pulled him to one of the stalls. Sky followed him, making sure they didn't bump into anyone on the way.

"Ma! Can we eat there?"

Sky looked up at what Daw was showing and sighed. Rain was going to kill him if he learned he fed their pup with mostly sugar. How was he supposed to resist those puppy eyes?

They all thought he was immune to it but he was just better at hiding the effect their pup had on him.

"Please, please, please."

"Yes we can but we're having a real dinner before going back to your Ma. He'll ask about your meals," Sky added when he saw Daw was starting to pout.

If they listened to him he would only eat sugar all day.

"You're the best Ma!"

Please never let Prapai here this. Sky would never hear the end of it. He was not ready for a sulking Prapai and even less for him to try to regain his best Ma title.

Sky was thinking about the next race and if they'd all go or just Prapai with one of them. He had a race scheduled and could not miss it. Someone on his right waved at him, trying to catch his attention. Sky looked up surprised. Maybe it was someone from work?

"That's a sweet pup you got there," the woman said as soon as she saw she had his attention. He didn't know her. Sky never knew how to react when people started to talk to him, even if it was about his pup. It happened more than he liked. Prapai was the one thriving on showing how great their pup was. He could talk for hours about him.

His pup was currently climbing on a wall, jumping from one grip to another as if it was the easiest thing ever.

"He reminds me how my Madee was. Sometimes we wonder if they ever sleep."

Sky couldn't agree more about this and nodded at the woman. She kept talking until a young boy came running in her legs crying. She apologized and walked away with the child.

Sky looked around, trying to locate his own pup and smiled when he found him hanging on one of the highest grips. For himself it was not so high but for the pup it had to feel like climbing a mountain and Sky could see how happy he was.

"You ready to go pup?" Sky asked after letting him play for thirty more minutes.

"More Ma?" pleaded the pup.

Sky looked at the time and shook his head. If they wanted to go to the zoo as planned, they needed to leave now. He expected Daw to fight and try to plead more but he just agreed. Sky smiled at how sweet he was.

"Ma, can we go see the penguins now?"

They had been walking a big part of the day and also spent a few hours at the climbing room. It was not late but Sky had hopped the pup would start to be tired. Of course, he was not. He had an unlimited amount of energy, like his father.

"Aren't you sleepy?"

"No. I slept."

Sky laughed at this. "Sleeping" had been five minutes in the bus getting them from the market to the climbing room. He would never call it sleep but it had been enough for Daw.

They walked slowly to the penguins enclosure. Daw always managed to see something interesting and Sky had to remind him of the penguins a few times.

They finally reached the penguins and Daw ran to get as close as he could.

"Ma! The penguins are so cute!" He turned and made his best puppy eyes. "Can we have one?"

Of course he wanted a penguin.

"No but we can try to find a plushie."

Sky laughed at the pup jumping and the little excited shouts when he heard this. Daw looked one last time at the penguins and grabbed his hand. Sky let him lead him to the zoo shop, listening to what would be a perfect penguin name and why they could not call it Storm.

They had been staring at the plushie for some time now. The selection went from four to two but it looked like Daw couldn't pick one. Sky was a few seconds from telling him to pick both when Daw looked up. He squeezed both plushie against his chest and said: "I want both."

"And how do you ask little pup?"

"Please Ma, can we take both home?" The question was coming with a sweet smile and more pleading eyes.

"And what do you have to offer, little pup?"

"Not telling Ma you stole his last piece of cake yesterday."

Pai and Rain had made a monster, there was no better description of the proud little pup in front of him. Sky would deny every evidence of him helping raise him.

"You don't have proof."

"Don't need them," Daw said back.

And if that was not the truth. Prapai would not care about proof when it came to chocolate cake. Sky sighed at the smug look of his pup. He wanted to ruffle his hair and squeeze his cheeks. He was so adorable even when he was being a menace.

"You win this round little pup but it won't work next time," he said seriously instead of acting on his instincts and hug him. He had to keep the face of the "stern parent.

They were almost home when they saw it. Daw was the first to slow down. He tugged on Sky's hand and pointed at the side of the street. There was a pile of fabrics and something moving under.

"Ma?"

Sky didn't think when he saw the blue eyes and the cute snout poking out. He walked closer, making sure to not scare it.

"Lost?" Daw asked unsure, squeezing his penguins against his chest.

"Looks like someone left this baby here. Do you think we should take him home little star?"

Sky heard the front door opening and someone getting closer.

"Sky, why is there a sleeping puppy in the living room?"

Sky had not thought about this. He looked at Prapai, Daw and Storm. According to Daw Storm was not a penguin name but was perfect for the grey puppy.

"Daw? Now we run."

The pup looked confused but didn't ask questions. He stood up and grabbed Sky's hand. Sky lifted him up in his arm and ran out of the room, to the garden. They went past a confused Rain but didn't slow down. Prapai was still behind them, asking about the puppy.

They were laughing all the way to the garden.
