Work Text:

"Is Ma coming?" The pup was bouncing as he asked the question. Sky grabbed his hand before he could run off.

"Ma is busy. He will join us at the park later."

Prapai had tried to leave his meeting early but at the end he couldn't. Another last minute project he couldn't leave unnatended. Daw nodded as he found the answer acceptable. The pup was so easy going. Sky had no idea what they did to deserve the sweetest pup ever. He also feared what would happen when he would grow up. There was no way a mix of Prapai and Rain could stay so calm forever.

"Ma will bring ice cream," Daw's voice took him out of his thoughts.

Sky smiled at this. It was not a question. The pup expected Prapai to bring ice cream with him. He had told Prapai he was giving him a bad habit bringing snacks to "apologize". He also knew his mates couldn't resist the puppy eyes.

They arrived at the park and Daw ran to the play ground as soon as he recognized some of the children already playing. Sky made sure he got there safely before walking to a bench near the entrance. He sat and quickly sent a *bring ice cream* to Prapai before going back to watch Daw. Afternoons alone with the pup were something Sky enjoyed. He liked to see their son so carefree. He liked even more when they got home and how he always had to tell everyone how his day was.

The best time was when he sat next to his little sister and focused on retelling every little details of his day.

Ok. Everything's fine? Prapai texted back. Sky shook his head at the speed Prapai had answered him. He answered and added a "focus on your work" at the end. He only recieved a kissing face emoji as an answer.

When he looked up he noticed Daw was not with the other children anymore. He quickly found him at the side of the playground and a woman was next to him. Sky stood up, a low growl ready to come out. He quickly walked to him. Something was wrong.

"Pup, something happened?" he asked as he kneeled next to the pup.

He was surprised to hear Daw was growling. The pup never growled. He'd rather hide than growl at a stranger like he was doing. Sky had no idea what was happening but he didn't think before he stood up. He stepped inbetween the woman and his pup. It didn't stop Daw's growl though. It seemed to grow even louder now than Sky was next to him. He pushed him behind his legs.

"You're not his mother so move away," the woman dared try to order him.

Now Daw was not the only one growling. Sky had felt a little under the weather that morning and had already snapped at Rain. He really wanted this walk with Daw to be relaxing and that woman was ruining everything.

"I'm not his mother so what?" His voice turned colder. He wanted to jump at the woman's throat but still didn't know what that woman wanted.

"So let me discipline him."

He was sure he heard the woman wrong. There was no way she had just said this, right?

"Discipline him?" he repeated as if it would change what he heard.

"Yes, misbehaving pups have to be disciplined."

Sky could feel people starting to gather around them. He didn't care what they were thinking. There was no way he would let this pass.

"Do you have pups?" he asked. Daw was still behind him, holding on his leg. He could feel the pup trembling and the distressed pheromones pouring out of him. He had to end this quick so he could focus on what was important.

He could see how the question unsettled the woman but she still answered, "No, but I don't –"

"That's what I thought. Who would want you around their pups."

"How dare –"

"How dare you," he cut her off once more. He could feel Daw's grip on his leg tightening and the low growl the pup had still going on. "You just come here and bother pups wanting to play. And why exactly are you doing here? You just told me you had no kids, right?"

There were whispers around them and more people got closer.

"So care to explain what you really intended to do with my pup?"

Sky watched the woman scoff and turn away without another word. He didn't look away until he was sure she was gone for good.

"Can we go home Ma?" Daw asked tugging at his pants to get his attention.

"Of course pup," Sky crouched down to be at eye level, "just let me send a quick text to warn your ma we're getting home sooner."

Daw had fallen asleep during the time it took them to get home. The confrontation had exhausted the young boy. Sky tried to not think of it too much or he would start to growl again. He didn't want Rain to go on a war path when he could better use his time. Sky was thinking of some cuddle time to sooth their pup before bed time. If it helped him too, no one had to know it.

"How was your day?" Rain asked, taking Daw from his arms.

"Good. We went to the park but had to leave early."

"Daw was tired?" Rain asked. He understood his surprise. They never left the park early.

"Just a little pest issue but I took care of it."

Rain knew better than to ask questions. If Sky said it was taken care off it meant it was.
