Tim and Lucy had been together for two years, living together for one, and engaged for three months. They’ve seen each other at their best and worst.
Today, Tim was called in early for a Metro job. She knows it happens, but she just wants him. Her period started and she is in more pain than normal. She’s had her period for years around Tim and can usually manage the pain. Today, she can barely get out of bed. She texts Angela to let her know she’s taking the day off.
She rolls over in bed and curls in a ball. She wants Tim, chocolate, and a heating pad. Lucy nods off for another hour. When she wakes up she realizes the bed is a mess.
On top of feeling awful, she has a mess to deal with. It’s only 10 in the morning and she knows Tim won’t be home until later. That’s metro for you. She knows she should clean up, but she wants a hot shower. She grabs Tim’s metro shirt, panties, and a pair of his sweatpants, hoping they stay clean.
Lucy turns the shower on hot. She sits on the toilet peeling her clothes off. She cleans up what she can before stepping in. The hot water cascades over her body and it feels wonderful. What she doesn’t realize is Tim’s case went faster than expected and he rushed home when he found out she wasn’t feeling well.
He walks into the house. “Lucy. Baby. I’m home.” It’s quiet. He heads upstairs and enters their room where he hears the shower running. He sees the bed and sees the blood. He quietly slips into the bathroom and gathers her clothes. He sprays everything down before starting the washer.
Tim pulls his phone out and starts a grocery order.
- Pads
- Tampons
- Heating pads
- Chocolate, lots of chocolate
- Ice cream
- Tea
- Diet Coke
- Bouquet of sunflowers
He then places a lunch order for pizza, getting her favorite.
He goes back upstairs and hears the shower is off. He sits in the bed when Lucy emerges from the bathroom, in his clothes and her hair thrown up in a messy bun. He stands up and she jumps back not realizing he’s home.
“Hi baby.” Before he can say anything else, she’s in his arms. He wraps her in a big hug and she melts into his embrace. “Did you take anything Luce?”
She mumbles into his shirt.
“What? I can’t understand you sweetheart.”
“I did. It’s not working and I left a mess. I’m so sorry Tim.”
He puts her head in between his hands. “You can’t help it Luce. I put all of it in the laundry. I placed an order for the things you’ll need including four types of chocolate and ice cream.”
She looks up at him. “You’re amazing. God I love you.” She leans up to kiss him and hisses at the cramps overtaking her.
“Couch or bed?” He asks.
“Couch please.”
He helps her downstairs and they settle on the couch. She leans into him and he tries to help sooth the pain by massaging her back and stomach.
“Mm Tim that feels amazing.”
“I ordered you the heating pads you like. It should be here soon.” They stay like that until the doorbell rings. It happens to be both lunch and their groceries.
Tim gets up to grab everything. He puts the ice cream in the freezer, the drinks in the fridge and most of the chocolate in there too. He grabs the pizza and a drink for each of them.
He grabs Lucy’s favorite dove chocolates because he knows her sweet tooth is even higher during her period. He hates seeing her in pain and hopes this will help her feel better. He also grabs one heating pad to place on her belly.
“Pizza and chocolate? Thank you babe.” She says with a small smile.
“Stand up first.” He tells her. He lifts her shirt and applied the heating pad to her stomach. He helps her back onto the couch and sets her food in her hands. They eat lunch while watching the newest episode of Top Chef.
When she’s finished she looks at Tim. “Thank you.”
“For what?” He smiles.
“Cleaning up everything I bled on, lunch, helping with cramps and my chocolate, of course. You even got me extra pads and tampons. How did I get so lucky? No other guy ever wanted to come near me when I was on my period.”
“Baby it’s a part of you. I know you don’t need me to take care of you, but I want to. You always do everything to take care of me. This one seems to be particularly bad. I’ll always take care of you and clean up anything that needs to. There’s more chocolate in the fridge.”
“Thanks babe.”
He cleans up lunch while Lucy happily munches on her chocolate. Tim switches the laundry, glad the stains came out. He knows Lucy would be upset if they didn’t even though it’s not a big deal to him.
He quickly goes upstairs and puts new sheets on the bed. He goes back down and can see Lucy’s exhausted.
“Come on. Upstairs you go.” They walk upstairs and Tim helps Lucy into bed. He quickly changed into sweatpants and is about to put a shirt on.
“No shirt.” Lucy says tiredly. He just chuckles.
He lays in bed and pulls Lucy into him. “You make my clothes look so damn sexy baby.” He says into her hair.
“I don’t know about sexy right now. It’s so unfair how hot you look in those sweatpants. Stupid period.” She winces.
“Feeing any better?” Tim asks.
“The heats helping. I’m just tired.”
“Sleep baby. I’ve got you. Whatever you need.”
“Mm I’ll need more chocolate and you.” She mumbles as she falls asleep with Tim rubbing her back.
He kept his word. He helped her through all the pain and he always made sure he had her favorite chocolate on hand. Oh, and himself, shirtless just as Lucy loved it.
