Minty has never really fought up until recently, but even he knows how good of a trainer Pixel is. Like, unusually good. Scarily good. He had talked to his other teammates, those being Le Truffles (a Lechonk with an admittedly stupid name), Yarnball (a rather shy Tarountula), Robin (a bold and active Fletchling), Diantha (a Ralts no real personality to speak of), and Noodle (a Shroodle with a strong will yet humble tendencies), and none of them other than Robin had really seemed to pick up on it.
Minty wasn’t expecting to be much help during a bug-type gym battle, but when Pixel sent him out against a Teddiursa, he figures he can take this opponent.
And then Katy holds up her Tera Orb.
In a dazzle of light, one that the grass cat has to close his eyes to not be completely blinded by, the Teddiursa is sparkling like a diamond with a crystal crown on her head. All signs indicate towards her now being a bug type.
Fuck.
“Feast your eyes on my shining bug decoration!” Katy exclaims, throwing out her arms. “Though this one is not so sweet!”
The Teddiursa seems to know what that means, and for one moment Minty concludes it must be a rehearsed order disguised in theatrics, but he barely gets to think as she darts forwards and slashes at him.
Minty gasps, being thrown out of the battle zone and hitting the roped fence. He groans, trying to stand up, before collapsing in on himself. He’s dizzy, his chest hurts from where the Teddiursa had cut him, and before he loses consciousness, he has one thought.
Am I dying?
Minty wakes up after an unknown (to him, at least) amount of time. He’s back in Pixel’s dorm room, with Robin laying next to him. Truffles, Noodle, Diantha, and Yarnball are all in various places around the room, though only Yarnball, Robin, and Minty himself are awake. Yarnball looks up and waves, before going back to... weaving something? Hm.
Robin yawns like she just woke up, blinking at Minty. “Hey, how are ya feelin’?”
“...I thought I died,” He mumbles. It still feels a little surreal, being alive and awake and aware of what’s happening when he feels like he should be dead. “How am I still here?”
“That was your first time fainting, eh?” The Fletchling says, nudging him playfully, though she frowns when he still looks admittedly fearful. “You’ll get used to it, kid.”
“Does getting used to it make it any easier?”
“...Not really.”
