Chapter Text
“With all this I can finally finish the Amazing Ray 50 million! And I can show Basketball how smarter I am than her!” Golf Ball held a bunch of tools and metal junk as she walked back to her house. Tennis Ball was walking beside her, smiling, “That’s great GB, I can’t wait to see it!”
Tennis Ball then saw Match and Pencil on the other side of the road, staring at them talking about how ugly boys are or something. “TB? What are you looking at?” Golf Ball then looked, and saw Match. “Who’s that?” Golf Ball pointed at the red haired girl.
Tennis Ball looked surprised, “You don’t know who Match is?” Tennis Ball questioned, as he kept walking with Golf Ball. “No, am I supposed to know her?”
“She’s like, the most popular girl in the neighborhood! She’s best friends with Pencil, and you know her.” Tennis Ball explained.
“I only know that pink haired geek because she won that 2nd grade science fair convention. I will never forgive her for that, and her project was a stupid volcano! So unoriginal!” Golf Ball ranted about how stupid Pencil was and how she had no reason to be popular amongst their community, and Tennis Ball listened.
“Since I do not know this Match I will speak to her tomorrow.” Golf Ball blabbered. Tennis Ball nodded, as Golf Ball reached her house. “Bye TB!” Golf Ball waved goodbye as Tennis Ball walked away, also waving.
Golf Ball walked inside as she was greeted by her pet cat, Axis. Who meowed right as Golf Ball walked in the door. Golf Ball then did her daily routine as she finished her Amazing Ray 50,000,000. When she looked at the clock, it read 2:34 am. “Yeesh. Have I stayed up that long?” Golf Ball put her goggles down, as she exited her basement that she turned into her factory. She got ready to go to bed.
As she snuggled up in bed, she let the stress of meeting this new person she never even heard before. What if she’s just like Pencil? She tried to sleep it off by turning off the light and dozing off.
Her alarm clock then violently interrupted her sleep as it beeped loudly. Golf Ball woke up as she rubbed her eyes and reached her arms out to put on her glasses.
She then got up out of bed as she changed into her polka dot shirt and white jacket, but she needed to cut the sleeves because they were too big. She walked out as she then called Tennis Ball.
“Oh hi Golf Ball!” Tennis Ball said through the phone, he was cooking himself breakfast as he put the phone on his shoulder, “Do you need anything?”
“Yes. Do you know where Match lives?” Golf Ball asked urgently as she pulled out a small notebook and skipped through the pages of math calculations. “Oh, well. I know what her house looks like, but I forgot the address.”
“Good enough! Tell me.” Golf Ball then got ready to write as Tennis Ball described her house. She then wrote down “RED EXTERIOR WHITE FRONT DOOR FLOWER CURTAINS” as she thanked Tennis Ball and hung up. She walked as she looked at all the houses, but couldn’t find Match’s. “Hm. Must be around the corner.” Golf Ball then saw it. The red exterior, the pale white door, and the flower designed curtains. Golf Ball got a bit nervous as she shoved the notebook in her jacket and knocked on the door, waiting fir a response.
“Bye Pence Pence, someones at the door, call you back later!” Golf Ball could hear Match behind the door. Match then opened the door as she looked down at Golf Ball.
Golf Ball was surprised, she only saw her from behind but not this close, as Golf Ball looked up, she couldn’t help but to feel red. “Hello?” Match was confused as she looked down at her. Golf Ball was snapped out of her thoughts as she then spoke “Uh- Hi. I wanted to meet you because I have never seen you before and I was curious.”
“Ohhhh hi! You must be Golf Ball. Pencil told me about you.” Match then crossed her arms and slightly leaned on the doorway. “Yes. I am. I was just wondering if I could get to know you more.” Golf Ball asked, she had no idea what to do after this, sure she was smart and all, but she didn’t really know anything about social life. She only ever regularly talked to Tennis Ball because of the shared interests they had.
“Oh sure! Do you wanna hang out somewhere like a coffee place?” Match suggested a way to get to know her more. “Uh, sure.” Golf Ball had never been somewhere without Tennis Ball, so this was certainly new to her, also she didn’t drink coffee. “Great! I'll go put on some other clothes, you can wait on my couch.” Match moved to let Golf Ball in, as she went upstairs to her room to change. Golf Ball walked over to her couch and sat down. She waited a few min as she then heard Match run down the stairs.
She was gorgeous. Even if she was only wearing a tight black shirt and some jeans. Golf Ball felt as if her face heated up again, but quickly shook it off. She admitted, Match was pretty, but Golf Ball wouldn’t be attracted to her. She barely even knew her.
“We can go now!” Match exclaimed, as she got her purse that was laying on the kitchen counter, and waited for Golf Ball at the door. Golf Ball got up and followed Match. “Soo.. what are you into?” Match them striked up a conversation as they both walked to the coffee shop. “Obviously science. I like making things.” Golf Ball then continued, “What are you into.”
“Oh, I’m into Invader Zim.” Match replied, she could tell Golf Ball didn’t know what it was by her face. “It’s a show about this alien named Zim who was hated by his leaders so they sent him to earth for a quite on quote mission, and he has no idea that he got sent there because they ddin’t like him! So he spent so long fighting this human 12 year old boy named Dib-“ Match then continued blabbing on about her favorite show like she had all the knowledge about it in the world, and Golf Ball listened to her ranting.
A few minutes later, Match then stopped as they both read the sign above them, they were at the coffee shop already. “We’re here!” Match then took Golf Ball’s hand and went in. Golf Ball was surprised and flustered at the sudden approach but didn’t act or say anything against it, she just followed behind.
After they were done ordering, they both sat down at a small table outside. “So, you don’t like coffee huh?” Match questioned, smiling. “No, I don’t. I just don’t like how it tastes.” Golf Ball explained, as she tried to get comfy in the metal seat. “Yeah, me neither. I just force myself to drink it to seem cool. That’s why I didn’t order it, because you don’t care right?”
“No, I don't care. You’re fine.” Golf Ball tried to think of questions to ask, before one popped in her head. “Do you know any biology?”
“I know Irken biology.. but I suppose that doesn’t count.” Match mentioned earlier that Irkens are what species Zim is, but Golf Ball decided she wanted to hear more about this Invader Zim thing. “No, I think it should count. Tell me anything you got.”
“In that case, did you know that Irkens don’t even need to sleep?” Match then started rambling again about Invader Zim. Golf Ball listened to her ramble, as she stared at Match, unaware she was blushing.
Match then got shut up as her phone beeped with a notification, she then got it out of her purse as she read the message from ‘Pence-Pence ❤️’ reading “..Where are you..” Match mumbled the message out loud, as she opened Messenger and typed back a response. Golf Ball then got shook out of her thoughts as she watched Match type back and put her phone down.
They then enjoyed the day as they talked and started to learn about each other more. Then the day ended as 6:23pm was on the clock, and they both needed to go home.
Match and Golf Ball walked back to their houses and said their goodbyes, and Match gave Golf Ball her number so they could chat.
